I've got a June 2007 revision MBP. I just got AppleCare. Techtools won't install. It just sits on "Items Remaining to Install: 0" and It's "Searching Macintosh HD" It's been sitting there like that for hours..

I need to create a split archive of a file over 1GB for posting on my blog. I'd like it to be in RAR format so that both Mac and PC users can access it. I heard I could do it with Stuffit Deluxe so I bought it and now I'm seeing no such option. Neither to create split archives or to create RAR archives, let alone both.
Does anyone know how to do this with Stuffit Deluxe? If not, can you suggest another software?

My 500gb internal drive on my less than a year old mbp has developed 68 bad blocks according to Techtools. Is this drive as good as gone or is worth reformatting? Would apple cover this under warranty?

alrightyyy so basically my unibody 2008 macbook crashed a short while back, needed to re-install OSX, files were saved, applications were not. I had been using iLife '09 off a copy that my mother got with with her 2009 polycarbonate macbook. After the crash I upgraded to 10.6 and attempted to install iLife '09 again. It told me thus: 'Alert: this software cannot be installed on this computer'. And that's it. I can't access any of my pictures in iPhoto or upload any(3 wedding albums :3), and I can't access any of my old Garage Band files, simply because they were created on '09 and since the reboot I'm stuck with '08. Major bummer. Bottom Line: is there any way to get iLife '09 on my computer without wasting $100 just to access files?

I,ve got a 2007 MacBook Pro running the Latest Version of Snow Leopard, with no problems. It originally came with OS X 10.4 (Tiger I Think it was called). I still have the original OS X 10.4 Installation disks.
I would like to install and play some early Mac games which no longer play with OS X 10.6, Snow Leopard. For example, the original Myst, which, I understand will play on OS X 10.4.
My question: Can I install OS X 10.4 on my MacBook Pro without overwriting or interfering with OS X 10.6, so that I can play some of these older Mac games. In other words, can I have both operating systems installed at the same time and choose which one to boot up and use.

I just got my update disc, but when I put it in, it just sits there cranking for a minute or so and then ejects the DVD. I made sure my software was updated first, and did a shut-down ... but it still just ejects it.
I zapped the PRAM ... and then it did hold on to the disc a lot longer, but it just cranks and cranks and then ejects. I did put in a music CD just to make sure it wasn't the CD driver, but the CD opened and played just fine. Any ideas on why iLife '11 won't install?

What is Bootcamp and how can you install it on Mac OS X without using a Windows disc? If installation through Windows disc is required, what other cross-platform software is present that does not require a Windows disc?

Whenever I download applications, I always hope to get just the application so I can drag it to the desktop and not have to install it to applications. But whenever I download a .mpgk file, which opens in installer, I have to install it to applications, so i need to have an administrator password. (specifically I'm trying to install mono or the C# plugin for Xcode). Is there any way to change the install destination ON macintosh HD, and move it to my user desktop?

When I open iPhoto on my new iMac it tells me that there is an update available and that I should goto Software Update to get it. I go there and it says that my software is up to date. I go back to iPhoto and it still tells me there is an update for 8.1.1 but it also gave me a manual install link. I manually downloaded it and it won't install because it needs iPhoto 8.1 from iLife 09'. I even tried rebooting and repairing hard drive permissions. I am using iPhoto from iLife 09 that came on my brand new Mac.

I was wondering if there was a way I could install X11 without the install disc? My MBP's slot drive does not work anymore for some reason so it refuses to accept my SL disc. I went to the Apple Store and they said it's broken and I have to pay since I don't have the warranty anymore. So how can I get x11 for SL on my mbp?

iTunes 9.1 won't install on my MBP (CoreDuo 2.0). Software update says I have the latest software, so I downloaded it from Apple's website. After it downloads I open up the installer and it goes through the process, and it says it was successful, but then I open up iTunes again and it's still ver. 9.0.3. I've done it twice now, and restarted and ran disk utility.

I have tried to update for my all apps but it says there's nothing to update.
How can I re-install my quicktime or even find it?

I have a ".iso" installation file and I just can't read it in my Mac (Mac OS X). When I double-click on the file, it doesn't work. The message I get says it's "not recognized". That ".iso" file installs properly in my PC. I searched this forum and learned that normally, ISO files should automatically work with Mac OS X. Well, it's not the case for me! I have a 4 years old Mac book with Mac OS X.

do I have any options or am I up ***** creek? Considering I have the actual disks I thought it was worth asking
