When I open my laptop occasionally it has obviously recognized updates and gives me the option to install, I click yes or ok can't remember. When I do it asks me to restart, which I do.When I restart it appears as if it never installed the updates?? When I go to system preferences and check to see installed updates it does not appear to be there?

When I try to update my IMAC with software updates a box appears saying: none of the selected updates could be saved. You don't have permission. How can I fix this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook with OS X 10.5 and I was looking at some of the updates I had installed and wanted to delete some that were irrelevant and that I shouldn't have installed in the first place. Somehow I deleted everything in the "Installed Updates" list, I know they are still on the computer because when I check for updates nothing new shows up. Is there any way to repopulate this list with the updates I have installed and is there anyway to remove the ones that I downloaded too hastily or should I just carry on since it is not a major issue? Of course I did not have Time Machine up and running yet.

I was browsing through my system preferences and saw something unusual. Under my sound menu, there was not only my Internal Speakers - Built in Output, but there is also an "XYAggregateAudio406." From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Sharing.
Click the Firewall tab.
Check the iTunes Music Sharing option.

my Mac has recently been playing up. The other day I turned it on to find just a white screen so I rebooted it though safe mode. Since then i have not been able to conduct sofware updates / save microsoft office files / install any programmes. I am trying to update my MacMini from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 and I am not able to. The user account I am trying to do it from is an admin account. I currently have 4 other updates and I am not able to install any of them and they are listed below.

I installed the software updates pushed to me the week of May 7, 2012 (installed them May 12th) and now cannot open certain web pages (examples www.cnn.com and www.ancestry.com) but am able to open others (ex. www.harrynorman.com). I installed an update to safari, one for security and another I cannot recall. Rebooted (twice) and still having the same problem. I have a Macbook running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.7.

My computer keeps notifying me that updates available when they've already been installed and are listed as installed.
The Command Line Tools, for instance, are listed as installed a half dozen times or so, yet it's cosnattly being offered as an available update. The list of updates available for the computer keeps growing, but they're all installed. Update All or Update will run and go through the process, but the list never clears.
How do I get Updates to work properly and recognize what updates are already installed?

When I install an update via Software Update, the installation appears in System Preferences/Software Update/Installed Updates, but then permanently disappears after a period of time. Same issue in Software Update.log.Is this normal?

So a while back I had final cut pro installed, and eventually deleted cause I no longer needed it. I used AppCleaner when removing to try and make sure I got it all.
Well every time I do a software update it wants to install "Pro Applications Update" and "Prokit Updates" Which are updates for final cut pro and its related apps.
Any idea how I can stop it from wanting me to install these updates for something I no longer have?
For whatever reason, when I installed Snow Leopard it did not automatically install the updates for the printer drivers already installed in my computer.
I then tried to manually install the printer drivers using the SL disk and still no luck. The printers that I use are both wireless and work when they are connected with USB. Am I missing something? I'm reading all over about how people have made the upgrade with no problems at all so I'm there's got to be something I'm not doing.
I recently purchased a 2nd hand g5 from a friend. When he bought it around it was not formated. The software update i have is 10.5.8, I have purchased a copy of snow leopard (box set with ilife and iwork on it too), Now i tried installing snow leopard and it wouldnt let me "My mac is not intel based" i tried the other installing via the other options, i need to have 10.6 or greater. my question is how do i get 10.6 on mac or how do i reformat the g5, its driving me crazy

So my question-
I was trying to put parental control to ask for password when my computer starts up. I did something I guess and messed up the info.
I can log in with my own account when I restart my apple - which says now it is a standard account (must have messed that up)- but can not make any changes on system preferences or anything else that requires login and password. It requires Admin info. My own login that I use now used to be my admin so do not have any other info set.
now on system pref - accounts - an account titled "test" seems to be admin but can not even access that and reverse myself to be the admin since I can not unlock system pref. Or cant click on "Login Options" for the same reason.
There are no other users on this computer than me.
What do I need to do to make myself admin again?

I recently took the plunge and installed Lion after being content with Snow Leopard....well now I have quite a few issues. When I open system preferences for some reason it automatically opens to Network...why I'm not sure. When I click show all, then click sharing, I can't make any changes in the Sharing preferences without my entire system locking up. I can't force quit or anything. I can still use the mouse but all I have is the rainbow wheel!
I have searched and searched and haven't been able to fix it. I have tried booting into the Guest account and the same problem happens there. I have trashed all the plist files everyone says to try. I have tried repairing permissions etc. I feel like I have tried everything. Is there anything else that I can do without have to do a clean re-install. I'm hearing if I do this that I won't be able to migrate my files from by backups due to permission problems?
I also took a look at my system log and it is full of this!
