I'm new to this forum so please bear with me. I swing both ways in that I am a windows user but I use Apple products like iTunes and Safari.
Here is my question.
In Windows Vista what folder does Safari keep its bookmarks in? I'm not familiar with Safari on Leopard itself but in the Windows version you can do an EXPORT and save them to a file. Long story, on the drive I'm working on I no longer have that option and I want to rescue my Safari bookmarks before I totally erase my HD.
after looking around in my folders I saw something called a plist or something like that.
I have Firefox 3.5.3 running on PowerPc iMac with OS 10.4.11. When I search for a bookmark in "Organize Bookmarks" window, the found bookmark shows as 'location" the web address. However, it does not show the location of this bookmark in my bookmark tree. So I really can not find where this bookmark is located which was my problem in the first place. If this bookmark was misplaced in one of the folders I can not find it to move to the right spot. Is there any way to find the real location of this bookmark with the search and in any other way?

View 3 Replies View Relatedis there a way to open file location folder through Spotlight search function? I mean when you do a search on spotlight and it finds the file you are looking for, if you hit ENTER it will automatically open the file (in iTunes if it is a mp3, in InDesidn if it a .indl an so on) what if you want to access the folder the file is on?

It looks like the most recent revison to OS X, that being 10.7.4 moved, or otherwise changed the way the system displays the background image for the login screen. I use a custom image file for mine, and now that same file does not display in 10.7.4Â The file (my coustom image) is still there, but it looks like OS X does not use that file anymore. This is the file name:[URL] how to customize the login screen background in the new build?

i did a "clean" install of leopard today and have everything back to normal except for my address book address's. i have backup's on my time machine drive, but where would the address file(s) be located on it? simply copying the address book from the applications folder does not do it of course.

How can I change the location of files created with the screen grab features of OS X Snow Leopard ? I tried to play with the "Keyboard" control panel, but I'm always getting an error when I try to capture a screen picture (something like : "can't write file to the specified location"). I really don't know what is that "specified location" and how to change it. Any idea ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly big photo library in iphoto 09 and I am wondering if there is an option to save information like location, description, date etc to the actual picture file. The reason I ask is because when I went to export some pictures it didnt save any of this information whatsoever and with 4000 photos thats a lot of work to go add all that information back to. Anyone else have experience with this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find a quick and direct way of displaying the file location of a file I am looking at using Preview.Â
For example, in Mac Word, I can use File > Properties > General and see the full file location but I can't see how to do this on Preview. Clicking on the name as shown below, does not show the file location, only the folder it's in (or the desktop) - i.e. the next level up. So if I have filexxx.pdf in folder1>folder2>folder3, clicking on the filename in Preview shows folder3.Â

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got to a point where the HD on my MacBook is just too small to hold my music library, so for a while now, I've been housing it on an external drive hooked up to an Airport Express. My setup certainly isn't without its fair share of problems.
Setup: I keep my own folder structure, with folders for specific categories and playlists. iTunes's music folder structure has never been organized enough for me, so I don't use it. Another reason is I have music in my library that isn't in iTunes (since I don't frequently use it). My music library resides on an AirDisk, while my iTunes database along with some local music folders resides on my Mac.
Problems: Whenever I move songs/albums/playlists from the local storage on my Mac to my remote library, I have to go through and reselect the file location on the AirDisk for every file. I've also noticed that files on my AirDisk typically appear with an exclamation next to them, won't sync to my iPhone, and won't play in things like iTunes DJ unless I manually mount the AirDisk. Even then, iTunes only sees the specific song I clicked. iTunes still thinks other songs on the AirDisk are unavailable (even though the AirDisk is mounted), and thus skips them when playing unless I specifically click a song. Finally, whenever I move my music library around (like putting it on a NAS), I have to go through and manually change the location of each and every song!
All of these problems makes me think there has to be a better way! I've read about using iTunes to relocate the iTunes music library or database to a different disk, using the "Consolidate Library" feature and other built-in features, but it doesn't seem like any of these would work with a custom folder structure. I also know there are various 3rd-party "helper" apps available, but I haven't looked into them. Perhaps a 3rd-party app could simplify the process?
I'm editing on Final Cut Pro but it's automatically saving all the files I am capturing to the hard disk using up all my storage space. I have a 2tb external hard drive how do I change the path so it will automatically save all the imported clips to the external hard drive?

How can I make spotlight show the directory location of a found file?Â
Previous Mac search engines would show the directory location of a found file. This feature seems to be missing from spotlight in Lion. Am I using it correctly?

When I search for a file in my computer (command + f) the results appear in a window. If I click on a FILE among the results, the detailed location of that file is shown at the bottom of the window. If I click on a FOLDER, however, no such location information appears. Before Mavericks, locations of folders was also given. Is this a Mavericks bug? Can it be fixed?

I've had Snow Leopard since launch. I want to do a fresh install, and then copy the files I want onto it from my external hard-drive. I have some questions though:
Will I have to redownload all the system updates that came out since Snow Leopard's launch? Is there a way around that?
Is there a way to save Safari's bookmarks?
If I want to keep a certain application, do I save the DMG or the installed icon onto the hard drive?
I copied the Pictures folder onto the hard-drive, which includes the 'iPhoto Library' file. Will this put my events back onto iPhoto?
How do I save address book contacts?
How do I save iTunes playlists/play counts/library etc?
Maybe there's an easier way of doing a fresh install while still being able to select these things to keep?
I've followed the usual instructions for deleting bookmarks but they keep showing up again every time I bring up Safari again. I've shut down the computer and reinstalled Safari without resolution of the problem. My OS is OS 10.6.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Mac has been having some issues with "Kernel Panics" and after taking it to the Apple store and them finding nothing wrong with it while doing their tests, their advice was to just do a clean install without using the "migration helper" feature. I already know how to move over my music files, documents, etc. However, I have a ton of bookmarks saved and I'd hate to hate to build my bookmarks from scratch after doing a clean install of OS X. How can I save my bookmarks?
