i've got some clips i've put into imovie and i want to remove the sound from them or maybe just make it lower so i can have music playing during it. is it possible to do this in imovie? what about qt pro?
View 11 Repliesas an extension to my question regarding RAM utilization, I've decided to upgrade my RAM. I went through the process of removing the underside of my MBP. After taking the screws out and mentally marking which slot they came out of (some are of different size), I pulled the lid up at the black trim area (the "neck" of the display mount) as this was the easiest way to get a non-damaging grip on the metal underside -- read: I avoided using a screw driver on the lid. As I started to lift, I was surprised at the amount of force I needed to use in order to remove the lid; something near the center of the cover was still holding the lid to the underside of the body. In fact, the amount of force I needed to use made me pause to question if I missed an important step other than simply removing the screws. I decided to "go for it" and applied more pressure while pulling the lid up and away from the body and heard a "pop" noise.

I do want to move clips inbetween other clips, rearranging their order, not deleting them. But whenever I drag a clip to fit splice in between two other clips, it just deletes whats underneath.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been editing compound clips and when I get half way through i notice early clips in the timeline are missing. So if there is clips ABCD in a connected clip, it will be now AC and the other clips are now gone. I've pressed undo until i saw when they were deleted and it seems when i'm selecting clips later in the timeline it selects earlier clips and deletes them with the clips i want to delete. This is causing a major headache as it seems to be random, I can't replicate it on demand, but it happens eventually in ever compound clip I create. I haven't noticed it while editing a project.

I've been having an issue with the latest iMovie and it's Trailers feature. When I've added the clips and play it through, after the majority of clips there's a slight pause before the transition to the next clip. It's noticeable and annoying.
I've tried with clips from various sources and resolutions but it doesn't seem yo make any difference.
If I switch clips around and keep playing and switching, it'll eventually play with no problems.
Has anyone else bad this problem.
How can I take 2 clips one with a women talking about her father and the other one is a shot with her and her father and I want to make one clip with the sound of the women talking and to see the women and her father. In imovie 09 it cab be done?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter you have downloaded say 10 movie clips from a video camera into I- Movie, is there a way to connect 2 or more of the clips and make it into one clip? When making movies every time you pause the video camera it creates a different clip. If you pause it 15 times at the same event you download 15 clips which in turn you have to create a button for each clip in I- DVD. I would like to combine some of them to somewhat fewer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedImporting videos from my camera into iMovie works fine and dandy until I hit a certain clip. From that clip on, all the movies I try to import have no audio. However, when I click "Show In Finder" on these clips that have no audio and play them in Quicktime, they have audio! So then I re-imported these videos into iMovie, and it worked! They had sound! Is this really what I'm going have to do every time I try to import my videos from my camera? Import, show in finder, RE-import?

All clip info like names, in/out markers, etc is still there. I have not had any problems in the past couple years with the program, and have not made any changes to it or my computer recently.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had clips from my camera that I put into imovie and it's just fine, then later on out of nowhere when I start it it says something like "this imovie project is made for an older version of imovie, would you like to upgrade it and make it match your current version".
Strange thing is I never upgraded my IMovie or anything and now I open it and the videos are in the trash, but instead of the clips I have, it's dragonball z clips with the filename of my files which makes no logical sense. How can I get my clips back and why did this happen?
I've just used my time machine to migrate my old macbook's contents to my brand new macbook air. While I was watching it restore 803,678 files to the new machine, I was wondering how many of them are unused applications. I've stupidly never set up separate user accounts before this, and I'm sure there are any number of applications that were placed on my old machine by my kids, my husband, and various visitors to our house. Since I'm using time machine instead of starting fresh, I know those have been transferred to the new machine. I've never worried too much about this situation before now, as about every three years I've bought a new machine, migrated the files I need to the new machine, wiped the old one clean, and handed it down to one or the other of my kids.
But now I'm realizing that with time machine, everything on my computer is now forever...everything anyone has ever put on it has been transferred to time machine and now to my new machine. I don't want to be operating with years-old versions of kid's games and apps on every machine I set up from now on for the rest of my life. Is there anything out there that specifically looks for stuff that hasn't been used for a specified number of years and asks something like, "Barney & Friends was installed 1/16/2003 and was last used 10/18/2005. Delete Barney & Friends and all associated files, yes or no?"
I want to completely remove final cut studio from my machine before I install Logic Studio. I used App Cleaner and then emptied the trash.
But still, when i put in the Logic install disc, it says it detects an install of Final Cut Studio 2 or older.......
And in software update it still has updates for final cut. But with the application being removed it shouldn't try to upgrade it right?
What else do I need to do to get everything off my machine?
I have two avi files on my mac that have swedish subs. Also the full length movie is split in two avi's.
How can I remove the subs and join the two files?
I've installed apache and php through MacPorts and would like to remove the ones that were installed by default. How can I do this?

I shall explain my problem.
Um, a few weeks ago[2 wks to be exact], i went overseas. Upon coming back, I on-ed my imac and found something very weird. There were icons at the bottom of my screen appearing to be a '?'. At that point of time I didn't know how to make em appear normal, thus i moved em to the thrash. I tried to open it earlier when it was a "?" but it wun open. However, what I didn't know and which was a careless mistake, i moved my microsoft office[entourage,word,ppt, i moved em into one folder] into the thrash as it appeared to be a question mark. However, when i checked the thrash, i saw no such folder... How do i fix this?
I did like everyone else and downloaded the Mac App Store yesterday. After it was installed and my computer restarted, I noticed that some of my apps were missing (Reeder in particular). This is a legitimate app downloaded from their site and now it is gone with no official Mac App in the App Store (even though their is one in the iOS store). Should I be worried about the Mac store removing other apps I have installed? If I have a "borrowed" version of say MS Office, will the Mac App Store detect and remove it once office becomes available in the App Store?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I know about the actual menu item in iTunes, but I'd like to know if there was a way to only remove true duplicates, not the same song on a different album. Like I there is one song from a particular artist that is on 3 different albums, is there any way to have all three songs read from only one file in the HDD? That way, the song would be a part of every album, but it wouldn't take up my HDD space. I could probably do this manually by deleting those other two files, and then "locating" them when iTunes can't find it, but this would take forever. So is there any app that does such a thing? Or am I dreaming?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to reset iCal by removing all my existing data, but removing my old calendars etc. seems for some reason impossible. No matter what I remove they still reappear!
Having read other posts I've now tried trashing the following folders:
USERNAME/Library/Application Support/iCal/
and
USERNAME/Library/Caches/Metadata/iCal/
and
USERNAME/Library/Caches/Metadata/com.apple.iCal/
I'm using MacOS 10.4.11
After deleting the above folders and reopening iCal I'm presented with just two calendars ("Home" and "Work") but after around 10 seconds all my old calendars pop up again!
I share my computer with my wife. When I login in I am asked for a password. How do I remove this feature.
