I currently have 2 mac. I am using the second mac as a webserver and just want to be able to connect to it remotely so I don't need a monitor. What is the best program to use to remotely connect to my second mac?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using Safari 5.1.5 behind a corporate firewall with a proxy server. I have proxy settings for http, https, ftp, and socks, that require me to login and authenticate. Everything works fine until I try to connect to my local development webserver running on Apache Tomcat on localhost port 8080. Whenever I try to connect Safari redirects to "localhost.corporatedomain.com." I have localhost*, localhost:8080*, 127.0.0.1*, all in my proxy bypass settings in Network Preferences yet Safari seems to ignore these? Chrome, Firefox, et. al, all work fine hitting localhost.

I just bought a Mac Mini that came with Lion installed. I couldn't transfer my files over from my old G4 because the video card died in that Mac, so I put the hard drive into an external USB case and did the transfer of my old settings that way using Migration Assistant. All my settings seems to have moved fine and I manually moved my web files to Library/WebServer/ Documents folder, but when I turn on Web Sharing none of my files show up on the server although they are all in the Library/WebServer/ Documents folder and Web Sharing is turned on Sharing Preferences. All I get when I access the IP is "It Works".

On windows there is a remote desktop feature that I use for work and it is pretty cool. I am wondering if there is a way to do that on the mac? My parents are up there in the years and have 0 clue how to do almost anything on their computer. Everytime they call me out of their other 4 kids for help it feels like someone is hitting me in the head with a steel chair with every question that they give. I like to be able to sign into their imac from my macbook pro and show them exactly what to do while I guide them. I keep telling them to go to iphoto and they keep saying facebook.

Now, I have no SuperDrive with my MacBook Air. However, I have desktop computer that has Windows on it that the MacBook Air uses as a Remote Disk.
Now, will my MacBook Air be able to burn a DVD remotely? If not, could I just copy the file over to my Window's desktop computer and burn it from there, or will that be a compatibility issue?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI administer my XSERVER remotely via the built in Apple VNC. However, the VNC service occasionally crashes, and locks my session. It also refuses any more VNC logins. This is particularly frustrating when I am off site! Apple has analyzed this and has no explanation or fix. BUT!!One talented and determined technician came up with this magic workaround. If SSH access is enabled on the server, you can connect to the server via an SSH client (PUTTY is great for Windows clients), and run this command:
sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/kickstart -restart -agent
You must log in with admin rights, and must enter the admin password again to run the command. It can take a minute to run. After it finishes, VOILA! you can login again via VNC.
I have a PowerMac (Quad 2.5) running Leopard and a black MacBook, also with Leopard. I'm trying to find the best way to control the PowerMac remotely, not out of a particular need but just to distribute some resources. Is there a better way than OS X's built-in screen sharing?

My songs were all authorized to play on my computer all of a sudden some are deauthorized and are asking me to authorize it again. Then it says 5 computers are already authorized. I only have 2 in my house right now. The screwy thing is they used to be authorized on this computer anyway.

I've had no issues with adium every since i downloaded it (5 months long?) but suddenly, i cannot connect to it. I've tried msn messenger and aMsn and neither does those 2 work. The only thing that is working for me now is msn's webmessenger.
