Applications :: RSS Feeds Not Opening In Safari

Nov 10, 2010

I am using Safari 5.0.2 on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.5.8. I have Safari set as my default browser and I have RSS feeds set in Safari preferences to use Google Reader as my default RSS reader. Problem is when I click the RSS indicator in the address bar of Safari to add the feed Camino opens up with the dialog to add the feed to Google Reader.Obviously this should happen in Safari not Camino. I also have Google Chrome, Firefox, and Opera installed along with Camino and Safari. All the other browsers RSS work as they should. What could be causing this in Safari?

Applications :: RSS Feeds In Mail - Won't Go Away

Sep 19, 2009

I have tried several feeds in Mail and liked the info as it came in. But starting a week ago, I would delete the read feed messages, close mail and an hour later reopen mail. The feeds that I deleted, from the trash no less, reappear. No mater how many times I delete them, the reappear every time, all of them so 40 deep. I sent feedback to Apple, but wonder if anyone else has had this issue. OSX Snowleopard on a Macbook. And NO, after I upgraded to SL, it worked fine.

Applications :: RSS Feeds - Only Display Short Summary?

May 30, 2010

I've just started using Gruml to sync with my feeds in Google Reader. Just wondering why some feeds, including Macrumor's, only display a short summary and not the full post or images as other feeds do? Can I change this? I want to be able to read the full article without having to click through to the site - kind of makes subscribing pointless otherwise.

Applications :: Safari Not Opening PDF?

Apr 9, 2009

So, I am using Safari Beta 4 however I don't think its the beta that is the problem.

I am clicking a link to open a PDF in Safari and it brings up the window asking what program to use to open it... however, Preview is grayed out and I cannot change to "Enable All Applications" like you can normally, i guess because it's in Safari it's different.

I am pretty sure this started happening when I deleted an Adobe Acrobat Pro trial.

Any one have some insight they would like to share?

Applications :: Safari Not Opening Links In New Tab?

Oct 27, 2007

I can't seem to find the right preference order to make it so when I click on a link that should open a new tab, it instead keeps opening up a new window. I have the first and third option checked in the tabs preference but it doesn't seem to matter. I might be delirious from playing with leopard all day/night, but I just want to figure this one last option out before bed. I Would like to open links in new tab WITHOUT having to hold down the command key.

Applications :: Tabs In Safari / Opening In New Window?

Jan 12, 2010

Is there a way of getting Safari to open a link in a new tab in the existing window rather than opening a new window? Before anyone shouts I have got that ticked in the preferences, but it doesn't do it.

Here is an example of what I mean, in google mail, if I choose the google finance option, it opens it in a while new window, not in a new tab in the same window.

Applications :: Safari Freezing Computer When Opening New Tab

Jan 21, 2010

I run a MBP early 2008 2.5 Penryn. I have 6GB OWC RAM and a 500GB Hitachi HDD. I run SL 10.6.2. From time to time, Safari freezes my computer for a time between a few seconds up to about 15 seconds, when I open a new tab with "CMD+T" or a new window with "CMD+N". As the whole computer freezes during this time, it is pretty annoying.

Applications :: Safari Lag - Freezing On Opening New Tabs

May 22, 2010

I'm having serious issues with Safari 4. It's extremely glitchy and laggy, freezing for seconds when I open new tabs, or even when I scroll down. Many times I'm forced to force quit because it remains frozen. I have a Black Macbook with Leopard on it. The computer still performs excellently, so perfomance isn't an issue. When Safari freezes and I have to quit, I'm typically on flash heavy sites (which I'm sure adds fuel to the fire). But Safari almost always lags for me.

I thought it was the "fastest web browser" and yet it has issues opening 5-10 pages at the same time in tabbed mode when selecting "open in tabs" from bookmarks.I understand it can't load all pages quickly at the same time but even after few min (and i have a fast DSL connection) some pages appear crippled, some missing entire images, etc.

Applications :: Safari Not Working Fine - Opening Tabs Uselessly

Nov 27, 2009

When I try to open a new tab it leaves the new tab blank and changes the tab I'm already working on...doesn't do this all the time, but enough to make it irritating. Basically it makes additional tabs uselesss

Also, if I am working successfully in 2 or more tabs for a while it will freeze on the last URL I used on the newest tab and not allow me to go to any new pages on any of the tabs...the only solution to this seems to be quitting Safari and restarting..PITA

I really like Safari, but it's been doing this to me for a few weeks now. Gonna go back to Firefox for the time being and hope that a future update fixes it.

OS X :: Mac RSS Feeds And IOS Devices

Jan 5, 2011

Is there an OS X/Mac only RSS feed? Seems like all the news is about iOS devices, which don't apply to me. I'd really like to see iOS and OS X platforms separated into two feeds. I'm one of those dedicated Mac fans, but couldn't care less about iOS. I do see an iPhone news page, so I thought iOS could be wrapped into that page, but really would just like an RSS feed that's OS X/Mac only.

ITunes :: Can't Open Radio Feeds In 10.6

Mar 12, 2012

I just upgraded to itunes 10.6 and find that I can't open radio feeds. I had been having no problems until recently. Before I upgraded I had a couple of occasions of difficulty opening the link but now it is impossible. In my old version of itunes if it couldn't open the link it would indicate that I should try later. Now it just shows the horizontal barber pole and says it is refreshing the category and I can't stop the one I clicked on or start a new one. I got Jazz to open but Classic Rock and others won't open. If I try to open another category it won't stop the refreshing on the previous one.

I work on a G5 with 10.5.8. I checked on Apple's support sight and checked my settings in preferences for firewall and it allows all incoming transmissions, so it shouldn't be a port accessibility issue.

Software :: Pubsub And Feeds Folders In User Library?

Dec 5, 2009

In user/library/pubsub/feeds: the Feeds folder contains a gazillion items and I am not sure what they are. I am also not clear on the definition of the pubsub folder and what feeds are. Is it some sort of cache that I can get rid of on a routine basis? I am one to keep things clean and know that SL does a lot of its own maintenance and I don't mess with the system or system library folders. Just at times in my user folder, only when I know exactly what I am doing.

OS X :: Opening Software's Since Safari Update 4.0

Aug 24, 2009

I have a problem with my MacBook Pro (1st generation, Mac Os X 10.4.11, 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, 512 Mo 667 MHz DDR2, bought in Feb 2006). Since the update of safari 4.0, I had a lot of problems with my Mac. First Safari kept closing all the websites I was visiting and after that I couldn't open safari again until I reboot my mac again. This changed with the new update 4.02 (I now have Safari 4.0.3). But the big problem is that I can't open some softwares anymore. Such as Office 2004, some games and the most important ChemDraw Ultra 12. Each time, the icon jumps in the Dock and then disappears. I tried to repair my harddrive but everything was alright. I don't know what to do anymore. I never had a single issue with my computer before. I have to give back a chemical report at the end of the week for my studies and I can't use ChemDraw!
