Is there an OS X/Mac only RSS feed? Seems like all the news is about iOS devices, which don't apply to me. I'd really like to see iOS and OS X platforms separated into two feeds. I'm one of those dedicated Mac fans, but couldn't care less about iOS. I do see an iPhone news page, so I thought iOS could be wrapped into that page, but really would just like an RSS feed that's OS X/Mac only.

I have tried several feeds in Mail and liked the info as it came in. But starting a week ago, I would delete the read feed messages, close mail and an hour later reopen mail. The feeds that I deleted, from the trash no less, reappear. No mater how many times I delete them, the reappear every time, all of them so 40 deep. I sent feedback to Apple, but wonder if anyone else has had this issue. OSX Snowleopard on a Macbook. And NO, after I upgraded to SL, it worked fine.

I have Safari set as my default browser and I have RSS feeds set in Safari preferences to use Google Reader as my default RSS reader. Problem is when I click the RSS indicator in the address bar of Safari to add the feed Camino opens up with the dialog to add the feed to Google Reader.Obviously this should happen in Safari not Camino. I also have Google Chrome, Firefox, and Opera installed along with Camino and Safari. All the other browsers RSS work as they should. What could be causing this in Safari?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to itunes 10.6 and find that I can't open radio feeds. I had been having no problems until recently. Before I upgraded I had a couple of occasions of difficulty opening the link but now it is impossible. In my old version of itunes if it couldn't open the link it would indicate that I should try later. Now it just shows the horizontal barber pole and says it is refreshing the category and I can't stop the one I clicked on or start a new one. I got Jazz to open but Classic Rock and others won't open. If I try to open another category it won't stop the refreshing on the previous one.
I work on a G5 with 10.5.8. I checked on Apple's support sight and checked my settings in preferences for firewall and it allows all incoming transmissions, so it shouldn't be a port accessibility issue.

I've just started using Gruml to sync with my feeds in Google Reader. Just wondering why some feeds, including Macrumor's, only display a short summary and not the full post or images as other feeds do? Can I change this? I want to be able to read the full article without having to click through to the site - kind of makes subscribing pointless otherwise.

After updating to MacOS 10.9.3, all my rss feeds are gone. Â
If I click a link on an rss feed on a website to reinstall that rss feed, I get the message that no appropriate application is available (before updating, the rss feed showed up in the mail program).Â
How can I recover these rss feeds?
In user/library/pubsub/feeds: the Feeds folder contains a gazillion items and I am not sure what they are. I am also not clear on the definition of the pubsub folder and what feeds are. Is it some sort of cache that I can get rid of on a routine basis? I am one to keep things clean and know that SL does a lot of its own maintenance and I don't mess with the system or system library folders. Just at times in my user folder, only when I know exactly what I am doing.

I just jailbroke my iPhone 3GS and installed MyWi to work with my iPad. I also tried it on my MacBook Pro using Bluetooth. After I paired my iPhone and MacbBook Pro together everything worked fine. Now under the Airport Menu I see a separate category labeled "Devices" which is just below where my Home Network is.
My questions is how do I go about deleting this? I've tried everything. I deleted my device under Bluetooth Preferences, quit MyWi, messed around with the Network Preferences and it still appears under the Airport Menu. I even clicked connect but of course that doesn't work since I quit everything and deleted the device in Bluetooth settings. It's not even listed under "Preferred Networks" when you click on the advanced tab. It appears as "(my last name) Hotspot" and is under a tab labeled "Devices"
My iTunes sidebar shows that I have two devices are attached when in reality no devices are attached. I delete them and every time I open iTunes, they show up again in my sidebar.Â

I don't think the IR receiver at the front of my MBP will be used, seeing as I'm not looking into buying an apple remote anytime soon. However, I was wondering if there was any software out there that would let me use it with other devices.
One specific thing i was wondering was if there was any way of accessing the IR receiver in boot camp Windows 7 to receive signals from an Xbox 360 controller (without the USB receiver attachment sold by MS)

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm fairly new to Macs, just got an iMac. So I'm working on getting everything transferred over and set up. I got my iTunes library working and I can sync my iPhone 4 and my iPod Nano 5g just fine. When I hook up my iPod its icon appears on the Desktop and I can explore it with Finder and copy/delete any videos that I've shot with it. The iPod also shows up on the left side of the Finder window in the Devices area. Now when I connect my iPhone it does NOT show up here and it seems like I must sync any photos or videos I have on my iPhone into iPhoto or Aperture. I would think it should show up in the Devices list and on the Desktop too but it doesn't. This seems funky to me but it does sync with iTunes fine. Is this normal? I just don't know if this is how it's supposed to be since I'm a Mac newbie. Is there a way to explore the iPhone through Finder to manage and copy the files?

I have a macbook pro with wireless N, but another computer in my house is only wireless G. If were both connected at the same time will my macbook still get the full speed of wireless N, or will having a wireless G connected slow it down to G speeds?
So all of a sudden Gmail is not synching with all my devices properly.. I use Mac Mail on my Powerbook, Iphone, and iPad, but if I read the email on one device, it won't get sent to other devices.. View 1 Replies View RelatedIn advance, a disclaimer: Please don't lecture me about how we shouldn't be using WEP...I'm fully aware of just how bad WEP sucks from a network security standpoint. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to change it at the moment. Now that that's over with...why is it that NONE of the Apple devices I've used have ever worked correctly on the WEP network here? Where I work, we've got all Cisco equipment, but unfortunately, we're still on WEP. We've got hundreds of Windows devices that operate just fine with it. On the other hand, on every Mac portable device I've had since I started working here 7 years ago, it's been an issue. I enter all the information correctly when I try to add the network as an Airport profile, and one of two things happens: It prompts me for the password over and over. It takes the information like everything is ok, but then it doesn't connect (no "bars") Every once in a while I will get a device to connect and work, but it's usually only temporary...it'll just stop working all of a sudden. It doesn't have to do with proximity to the access points; believe me, I checked. I'm positive I'm entering everything correctly, as I actually work for the IT Department here. I've had numerous portables through the years including various MacBook/PowerBook Pros, iMacs, and now an iPad which also doesn't want to work on our WEP network. We have four buildings here, which are technically four separate networks, all configured with the same type of access points, and Apple devices don't connect properly in any of them. Being that we have plenty of Windows-based devices, as well as Android portable devices that work on our WEP network, it would appear that the problem is isolated to Apple.
Is anyone else here still stuck using WEP (perhaps at your workplace), and has anyone else had similar problems to what I'm having here? What did you do to resolve them? I'm dying to get my iPad on the wireless here, but it just won't cooperate.
I tought that the problem was with my specific usb device, but i'v already tried with the 2 USB ports and with several usb devices. Everytime I insert a USB device into my computer, a screen appears saying that i need to turn off my computer and that i need to click on the power button for several seconds to do so. This has become pretty annoying since i can not transfer files nor make any backup on my computer because everytime i insert a usb (external hard drive or simple usb device) the screen appears and i don't know what to do. Does anybody know the reason why this is happening or a solution for this problem?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the most recent version of iMac 24" with a partition in the HDD to use Windows with parallels. I'm sure that the hard disk is almost full (about 3/4) but today, all the devices (mouse, printer, mac keyboard, external hard disk) are not recognized in the computer.
I was trying to startup the computer in SAFE MODE but once again, the keyboard is not recognized. I can't do nothing! Inclusive, I am available to apply a FACTORY RESTORE but when the disk 1 is inserted into the computer, I need to hit or double click the icon to run.
Is it possible to have a kind of dropdown list of the devices (hard drives, dvd drives, usb drives) from an icon in the menubar? It would be very convenient.

I have a 1.83ghz mini and lately I've been having trouble with USB devices not plugged right into the computer itself. This includes a few hubs I've tried and the USB ports on my monitor. Some examples would be: 1. My apple aluminum keyboard, sometimes I have to unplug it and plug it back in when I start the computer or it won't work. 2. Just today, my iPhone wouldn't sync through a USB hub I've been using for quite some time but when I plugged it into my mac, it worked perfectly.

I downloaded some new music apps for my iPhone 3GS today, only to find that some wouldn't sync to my iPhone. After much messing around I realised that some needed iOS 4.2 or above - mine is stuck on 4.1 at the moment.Â
When clicking on 'Update' in iTunes (9.2.1) nothing happened. So does that mean, this version can't support iOS 5 devices?Â
I tried then downloading the latest version of iTunes but of course it wouldn't install on my ageing G5 Quad which is stuck on OS 10.4.11, as it can't run the latest OS.Â
So it seems I'm stuck in an upgrade loop here. But if I upgrade the phone to iOS 5 from another computer - is it possible that I can still sync successfully from my old version of iTunes or not?Â
I had planned to upgrade my computer this year anyway but it's such a shame we are forced into it in this way. The computer itself still runs just fine but will likely just be heading for the recycling centre due to the abandonment of Power PC software/emulation. Â
