Software :: Entourage And Hotmail - Access To Resource Forbidden
Feb 7, 2009I can not send or receive e-mail using Entourage with Hotmail. When sending e-mail, I receive an error message as follows: HTTP error. Access to the resource is forbidden. The Hotmail folder list could not be received.

I am using Entourage 2004 on my MacBook ver 10.4.11. I have a good internet connection. There is no problem with the hotmail account or password as I can access it on my PC but not using my Mac with Entourage. I called Cox Cable but they didn't have a solution or explanation why I was not able to use Entourage with hotmail.

Oct 12, 2010Setting up hotmail in Entourage. I've tried countless solutions but none seem to work in my case. The problem seems to be that I can't send or receive mail (typical problem). POP server is pop3.live and I've entered my hotmail address and password. The smtp server is [URL]. I've tried many combinations of POP and smtp ports like,
110, 25 (respectively) Error message: -3259
225, 25 Error message: -3259
995, 25 -17897
I've also had Error message -16999 but I've forgotten which combination I had for that. In advanced options for POP server, SSL and Secure Password is checked; for smtp server, SSL and require authentication are checked. I've tried using the same settings as mail server and also logging on using my Account ID and Password. Also, I have a rule set up for send and receive every 1 minute (Entourage doesn't seem to like that; it wants me to do it every 15 minutes which isn't suitable). It seems like I've exhausted all possibilities and I still can't send or receive my emails! The odd thing is that when I initially set up my hotmail account, it was able to download all the messages from the server without a hitch.

Jul 3, 2010I have a Macbook operating on 10.5.8. I have MS Office 2008 for Mac version 12.0.0 which includes Entourage. I have used Entourage for about 2 year with no problems but have accumulated a large amount of data.
A couple of days ago I got the message "Entourage cannot access your data..."...I have attempted several time to rebuild the database but at page 4/5 I get an error message.
It was suggested that I should upgrade so have successfully installed 12.1.0 but 12.2.0 won't install as "I don't have a software version....."

Sep 23, 2009We have Verizon DSL and use a Netgear wireless router at home. I just bought a new MacBook Pro and can access the internet wireless but cannot access either our Hotmail or Yahoo pages and accounts.
If I turn off Airport and use my Verizon AirCard then I can access everything fine so it seems like there must be an issue with info getting through the Netgear router.

Dec 1, 2005I've seen lots of threads go by about importing e-mail from one program to another, and my case is seemingly simpler, but I have had no luck so far.
I want to import into Entourage the e-mail from a backup of the disk. I know how to import mail into Entourage from other e-mail programs and I know how to import mail into Entourage from an archive created by exporting from Entourage, but I cannot figure out how to import from a backup of the folders under the "/Users/(username)/Documents/Microsoft User Data" folder, under which is where Entourage stores mail.

Nov 13, 2010I have recently deleted an old hotmail account. It was never used and had been hacked. Now that it is deleted, whenever anyone sends me an email to my .Mac account they are given a failed delivery notification. It says that the hotmail address is no longer active. I am getting what they have sent as it's addressed to the .Mac address though. The thing is I have never knowingly linked these accounts. I have been through all the system preferences and there is no mention of them being linked.

Nov 6, 2010I just installed Mac Office 2011 and am having trouble connecting my hotmail account to Outlook. I go to add my hotmail account and everything seems to work, but it does not show up on the left side under inbox or anything. When I go back into settings, it shows the hotmail as my default account, but I can't see any of my messages. Also, periodically alerts pop up in the bottom right hand corner showing "new" messages, however they are really, really old emails from my hotmail account.
I can click on the alert and read the old message, but I can't find where those messages are on Outlook. I have successfully added my gmail account and my home university's account. One other thing to mention, when I delete the hotmail acct and try to add it again, it always adds "On my computer" under the inbox section. This "inbox" keeps popping up with old old emails. So I go into preferences/general and hide it.

Jun 12, 2010just got a macbook pro and wanted to configure my hotmail accounts to be read in mail 4.2 in such a way any change I did in the webmail could be seen in mail and viceversa. When configuring it automatically (letting mail figure out all my account details) that didn�t happen; I was told that I need to set the account type to Imap for this sync to happen.
When I configure a new account in Mail 4.2 the account type (pop) appears automatically, and there�s no chance I can change it, not even afterwards when going to the account menu.

Dec 4, 2010so i intentionally/accidentally deleted my qt plugins in safari trying to solve a player issue. anyway i have spent 24 hrs reading alllllll the posts and kind find a solution to my new problem. i have QTX and QT7 loaded on the mac snow leopard. this was working before i deleted the plugins. after reinstalling the QT 7, the plugins are in the internet plugin folder in both my main and user library, but Safari refuses to acknowledge their presences and simply says "plugin missing" when i go to webpage with embeded media or tries to download the .mov from another site. The plugins while in the library, are NOT listing in the Safari installed plugin list.
