Applications :: Airport Won't Auto Connect?

Apr 12, 2008

My computer stopped connecting automatically to my airport. I have it as remembering the password, and the password is saved in keychains. In the network system preferences, I have it set as a preferred network. However, every time I wake my computer up or bring it back to the house it says it can't find any of my networks, and asks me to choose from a list (which contains my airport). When I click on it, the password is already there, and I tell it to remember this network, but it never does.

OS X :: How To Auto Connect To A Server But Only For A Certain Network

Feb 13, 2009

I use my laptop many times throughout the day, and due to classes, and studying at friends' houses, etc., I connect on average to 3 different networks a day. All of my music for iTunes is stored on a server at my house, and it easily auto connects at login when I am there. I was wondering if there was a script, or maybe even an application that would allow my laptop to only attempt to auto connect to the server when on my home network.

Obviously this isn't a dire issue, I just think it would add a little convenience to my life

OS X :: Mac Does Not Auto Connect To Wifi Network

Jun 19, 2009

my mother's MacBook Pro doesn't automatically connect to our home's wireless network. It's encrypted with WPA2. My MBP and my sister's MacBook stay connected fine. My mother's, however, requires her to click on the AirPort icon at the top and select our network each time she wakes it or boots it up. This only started happening when I put WPA2 on the network. How do I fix this?

OS X :: Wireless Network Auto Connect

Aug 4, 2009

I recently started having this problem, it just started out of nowhere. Whenever I turn on my iBook, it autoconects to my neighbors network, and not mine. I cannot use their network it's too slow. So now I have to go to the top right and specifically select my wireless network in order to connect to it. There's many networks found on my laptop, and it used to autoconnect to mine. Any way to make the apple automatically connect to my network? The keychain definitely has saved my wireless security password. It just annoying for me to go and click on the wireless icon and select the network everytime i turn my laptop on...

OS X :: Auto Connect To Server On Startup?

Sep 9, 2009

So at school there are a number of servers that I commonly use and access. Everytime I want to connect to these I have to manually go to the Finder then in the toolbar click 'Go' ---> 'Connect to Server' and then type in the addresses for each of them. I have to do this everytime I restart my computer. Is it possible to have some kind of thing which will make them automatically connect o them on start up?

Also it would be even better if it automatically logged me on as well so I didn't have to manually enter my username and password.

Hardware :: Auto Mount A HD Attached To Airport Extreme

Apr 29, 2009

I have recently purchased an Airport extreme and all is well with my network. This morning I attached a small USB HD to learn how to use this as network attached storage. It is working, but it will not auto-mount. Per the Apple KB-there should be a setting in the disks section of the Airport Utility to automatically mount hard drives. It is not there.I can access the drive by using the finder>go>network option which is fine for me, but would be too difficult for other members of the family.

Hardware :: How To Connect To NAS - Auto Mount Device

Feb 5, 2009

Just a quick questions for anyone with a NAS. I am thinking of purchasing a NAS and my question is this, how do you connect to the device? What I want is a storage device connected to my AEBS which can then be accessed from my laptop and desktop. Also I want this device to auto mount on start-up, I think this is relatively easy by dragging the HD icon into your start-up items list. The NAS I am looking at is this one: WD ShareSpace

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Does Address Book Have Auto-capitalization Or Auto-fill Feature

Mar 31, 2012

In a previous contact software program I have used for years, the first letter of names, streets, and cities, were automatically capitalized as I typed them in. Unfortunately, that software does not work under Lion and the developer is out of business. Because of that, I am trying to convert to Address Book. I can't find the ability to have that same thing happen in Address Book. Is there something I can turn on in Preferences or some other obscure window? My old contact software also automatically filled in cities, names, or states that I previously entered. Great time saver but doesn't seem to exist in Address Book.

Safari :: Deleting An Incorrect Auto-complete/auto-fill Entry

Jul 1, 2012

I don't know if this is properly autofill or autocomplete - the two overlap too much anyway so I'm not wasting brain cells trying to come up with a distinction that makes sense to non-engineers. ANYWAY. Here's the point.

I'm on my bank website. My login is xtnjohnson -- just like here. Only I mistyped it once, so in autofill/autocomplete (whichever it is), I get a little drop-down showing two options: xtnjohnson or xtnjohson.

I want to delete only the second option. I recall at sometime finding a very simple way that involved highlighting the offending entry and hitting either control-delete, shift-delete, command-delete, or function-delete, only I can't seem to get any of those combinations to work. And of course I can't find the thread anymore.

The solution did *not* involve dealing with the autofill preferences in *any* way -- I've seen that option and it doesn't help (a) because there's no quick way to find the website where the problem is occurring (my list is long), (b) even when I go through my list, I don't see my bank's url, (c) the place for entering my login appears to be in something like JavaScript, so I'm not sure it'd be tracked in one of those lists, and (d) I don't know that this is properly an "autofill" problem anyway.

OS X :: WPA Log On With AirPort - G4 Cannot Connect To Network

Jun 4, 2009

I have recently upgraded my wireless network to N+ using a Belkin Modem Router. Security is WPA2-PSK, and MAC access is disabled. All MacBooks (Leopard & Tiger), PCs (XP) and iphones connect without any problem, however my daughter's PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.4.11, and with the most recent Airport software, can't connect to the network. The password prompt when selecting the network only allows for entering a WEP password.

OS X :: Cannot Connect XP To Airport Express?

Apr 27, 2010

This is driving me crazy. I bought a Belkin F5D9050 802.11g compatible usb wireless card, and it will not recognize my airport express!

I have changed the settings in windows, and know the drivers are correct, it just won't find it as a online router/hub.

It says the network is unavailable, and there was an issue setting up wireless, it is like the windows wireless setup and the card are competing, so I cancelled the windows g setup and still nothing.

I am running SP 3 for XP, and tried chatting Belkin support and no one knows.

I installed Airport Utility, and etc and still doesn't connect.

The only flicker I had was when I went into my mac and tried creating another network, and then it signaled a device, but would not connect.

Hardware :: Sawtooth Will Not Connect Via AirPort

Mar 24, 2010

I recently upgraded my old Airport Extreme Base Station (looks like a lumpy cap) to a newer AirPort Extreme Base Station with dual-band support and 802.11n. I installed the software on my Macbook running Snow Leopard, created a new set up with new passwords, etc. The Macbook and a G4 12" rev A PowerBook running OS 10.3.9 connect fine, but a G4 500 GHz Sawtooth, running OS 10.3.9, with an original Airport card installed will not connect. Initially the new networks showed in the AirPort inverted triangle bars, but now the triangle is grey, and I can't get any connection with Internet Connect or the network diagnostic that comes with the OS. 2 out of three ain't bad, but I want all the computers to connect.

OS X :: Airport Connection Has Ip Address But Still Won't Connect?

Oct 3, 2010

Recently moved and had a net connection installed yesterday, the guy set it up and it connected fine up until last night when i decided to mess around with OSC control and had to set up my own local network to do it.

Now today I'm trying to connect to the net again back on the default 'automatic' location (i made a seperate location for the OSC to try and avoid this sort of trouble) - and although Airport is picking up the router and is saying it HAS got an IP address, the internet is still not connecting.

I've done a few common sense diagnostic checks, its not Firefox becuase I'm running Little Snitch and thats not showing any movement either..I checked that its automatically configuring using DCHP and supposedly wiped the network settings by deleting the .plist files but its still doing the same thing: reporting that it's connected and has an IP address, but still with no connectivity.

Diagnostics says it 'appears to be connected' but the Network Setup Assistant gets to the last stage of the setup and asks me to check my diagnostics because it can't connect. When seconds later it has an IP and is 'connected'.

OSX 10.5.8
Router is a Netgear VMDG280

MacBook :: AirPort Won't Connect Automatically In OSX 10.4

Mar 2, 2009

After installing OSX 10.4 on my wifes' Clamshell iBook 466 Firewire, and accepting several software upgrades to 10.4.11, I was annoyed to find that the AirPort Card would not connect automatically on start-up. This seems to be as a result of the AirPort software upgrade to version 4.2.

There seems to be no way of reverting back to the previous version, leaving us with the problem of having to connect manually. This involves several steps, starting with choosing "Other" from the AirPort drop-down menu, selecting the network from a drop-down list, then selecting the WEP option from the next drop-down, entering the Password and clicking 'OK' to complete the connection process.
