i have a keynote file and for the life of me, i can't get it open.
I need to export it to powerpoint for a client.
The funny thing is that i sat with the person who created it and it opens for them and on a trial version. Go figure.
I know keynote to powerpoint export is a bit spotty in iWork 08' but is it any better in iWork 09'?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to use powerpoint 2007 for the presentations at the uni and I really like it. I also tried Keynote which in my opinion creates better looking animations and slightly better looking slide shows.
But Keynote does not have SmartArt Graphics which in my opinion reduce great amount of time when creating a slide show.
How do you cope with lack of SmartArt Graphics?
And what are your reasons for using Keynote not the Powerpoint?
i give lectures at a local university and wonder if you could suggest a few programs as a repository/organizer for a bunch of images (most will come off the web). I realize that Iphoto can do some of this, however, its tendency to group images by date is not terribly useful to me. What I'd prefer is something like Papers that would let me preview and tag the images.
I wish I could be more specific; however, my imagination is hampered by my lack of familiarity with what software is out there.
Also, if you have any suggestions for organizing materials for presentations--I give 8-10 different 1-hour presentations per week-
I am creating a presentation in Keynote for a project in school that uses Windows with Powerpoint 2003. Will my special effects and transitions work in Powerpoint when I present? Is there a way I can ensure they will work in a different format?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I have several CME Conference Lectures (slides made in PPT). Unfortunately, I guess these presenters love color, and so all slides are in a blue background with white text or some variation thereof. Personally, I like to have a print out of the slides when I am reading/preparing for my future cases. etc. and so I physically print these slides out. Unfortunately, the unnecessary background color is an unnecessary burden on my printer, and so I was wondering how I can change the the background and text in one shot so I don't have print out the unnecessary color.
I have tried trying to change the background from within powerpoint, but because the text is often in white, this causes the text to "disappear" on a white background. The only way to get the text back is to change the text color on a slide by slide basis. This is fine if the presentations are short, but most of these presentations are 200+ slides.
I was hoping there is some trick either in powerpoint or keynote to be able to change slide themes (such that background and text can change in one shot).
I'm using Keynote 09' to create a presentation which will be displayed on a windows machine so I planned on exporting to quicktime but there is no export menu when I press file. What's going on?

I just got a 8 core Mac Pro at work and it has developed a nasty crashing habit. I think that I have narrowed the problem down, but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice. The machine crashes whenever I view a PowerPoint (08) or Keynote (09) file in presentation mode. In the current setup I have the presentation on one screen and my notes and information on the other screen. I am running dual 24 inch LED monitors (not mirrored) and when I disconnnect one of them, there is no crashing and the presentations work great. I have two NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 video cards.

I'm currently trying trillian on OSX, seeing if its any good. And I've had a look at adium but trillian looks better.
I'm sure most people suffer from this but here goes.
So I make a presentation on Mac Office powerpoint, everything is fine. I open it up at university on the PC, all is fine. I maybe change some text on a slide and save it again. Open the same file again on my Mac, and it won't open some silly error comes up saying trouble accessing file from mac HD.
Then luckily I have keynote, so I just open it in that and use that.
Point is why does this happen?? Whilst keynote is better, sometimes I have to edit things on a PC at work or uni and then it becomes a giant mess on my mac.
Is there a quick fix, or will I have to throw Mac Office into my growing pile of Microsoft related garbage.
So i've recently gotten in the uploading to YouTube craze with my Flip Mino HD but i'm not too happy at the way i've been doing this and am hoping there is an easier way.
As of late i've been importing what i film into iMovie. In iMovie i'll edit the video to my liking. In iMovie i'll "export" to the media browser so it'll show up in GarageBand. Then i'll open GarageBand and edit my film further, dealing with sound; adding music. After that i'll export it as a .MOV to my desktop. Then i'll open iMovie again and import that .MOV file and from there in iMovie will have it upload to YouTube in its original HD format.
It even plays just fine when in presentation mode on my mac. The problem is when I hook up my mac and run the presentation over a projector. In this instance, the movie just won't run.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using PowerPoint 2008 and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I am printing out 6 slides per page, however, there is no option to make these 6 slides bigger. There is a lot of "free" unused space. The slides would look better if I could use this free space. If I were on a Windows machine, there is a utility called pdf995 that will take advantage of this "free" space.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have this weird problem.I can not open Excel and Powerpoint at the same time. I have to quit PP in order to open Excel or it won't open. Also Excel needs to be off or PP will crash when opened. Word seems to be working fine. I have reinstalled Office 2008 now twice with no help. I have also updated to the lates 12.1.5 version and no help. I also tried to repair permissions and deleted the .plist files but that did nothing.

If we get to discussing any one slide too long, my Mac goes to sleep. All the PC guys say, "Hit F7" but this does not bring back the Mac, so I restart PowerPoint, and then the projector does not recognize the presentation or various other mishaps and gremlins appear. The Help files with PowerPoint have not been helpful to my searches, nor have the PC guys because they don't have a clue about Macs. How I can become the smooth PowerPoint expert (manuals, books, web sites, etc.).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several .AVIs on my mac. Some of them will play with quicktime, some of them won't, so I've downloaded VLC to play them all. The problem is that I need to embed these videos into powerpoint (2008 for mac). The videos that work with quicktime will work in powerpoint, but the others won't. I've heard that windows users can install a VideoLan-VLC plugin to play videos in powerpoint, but I can't figure out how to do this on a mac.

say I have a Keynote presentation with four slides. In the first slide I have hyperlinks to pages 2, 3 and 4. Can I have a different transition effect for each slide so that when I click on hyperlink for slide 2 I have the cube transition, when I click on hyperlink for page 3 I have the flip transition... etc?
What is the best way for someone to save a Windows PPT file (XP version of PPT) that it will play the "most nicely" with Keynote? Does anyone know of any options on the Windows side that will help?
The main issues that I seem to be seeing are that the slides are opened in Keynote at 720x540 instead of 1024x768 and that there are a few font issues. I'm just wondering if there is anyway to "idiot" proof this and cut out any additional steps after opening the project on a Mac.
