I know Photoshop is somehow would be the best photo editing, but does anybody know the easy and FREE photo editing for Mac like the one from www.photoscape.org? I'm using it on my Dell, and quite overwhelming with it's ability to my need to editing my photos, and most of all, it's free! I don't use Windows on my Mac.
I have jpegs of a book that I need to put into one pdf file so that it can be more easily transfered. i have found that adobe has a program that has the possible ability to do this, but i dont have access to it and i was looking for a much more simple way to do this..
I need to download some of my photos from Flickr to my Mac and I'm wondering if there is any free/cheap software to do this on the Mac. I believe I could do this with Download on Windows but I'd rather not.
I am in need of a software that can resize my pictures, and do very light editing. Maybe adjusting contrast or color. Can I do this in iPhoto? I'm really trying to avoid paying 200 bucks for PhotoShop. If not in iPhoto, is there another program that comes with my mac, that I can use?
Does anyone know of a good application to find and delete duplicate photos. I'm trying to work with a massive photo library (40k+ images) and get rid of duplicates including thumbs created by Iphoto. I'd prefer freeware but am willing to pay if there is a particularly effective program.
Can someone recommend me a good exif program for photos. One that merely mouse over the photo, right click with exif info as well as resize function. I'm using Safari.
So I just recently converted to all Mac. With that being said, I purchased a couple seasons of Mad Men via iTunes.
Now with music, I know you can burn the album to a cd and then import from cd to have a non-drm album. Not knowing, I've come to realize that you can't do this with videos.
I've read that you can backup your iTunes library on DVD, but I really don't want to do this all the time. I have my iTunes library on my ext hdd with a TM partition, but I don't want to rely on it (also my media is going to eventually outgrow that TM partition).
So, with that being said, I'm looking for a program that will re-record (or as others put it DRM stripping) the original untouched purchased video and give me a DRM free copy for backup.
Or, if there are any programs out there or methods of completely backing up iTune's purchased video, then I'm open ears.
Close to pushing the 'buy now' button on an IMac after using Windows for a looong time, wondering what software I should be looking at to manipulate photos. From what I read iPhoto (Or Picasa for Mac?) will let me organise stuff perfectly fine but is a little basic for editing, Photoshop is WAY too expensive.
Which leaves what other options? I have PaintshopPro (old version, 7) on Windows, AFAICS its not available on Mac, Irfanview(free) which is excellent for basics like resizing (I presume iPhoto handles this?), and DCEnhance which is also free and does some automagic type changes to bring more detail out of shadows or put it back into highlights - any equivalents, either for free or pay?
Looks like Aperture might do the business, is that the 'tool of choice' for people who dont want to pay or have the large learning curve for Photoshop?
I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro, the new unibody ones, and I installed Windows XP, using BootCamp.
I made it a 29 or so GB partition, so it used the FAT32 formatting.
The program I tried to install is the eyeQ speed reading program, and the laptop exceeds every single one of the recommended requirements.
The problem comes when I am attempting to install the program, I keep getting an error message in which it says "This program cannot run on a computer with less than 64 megabytes of ram."
Last time I checked my laptop has 4 GB of ram, and it says the same thing when I checked it while running Windows XP.
My only guess, which I made while typing this, was that I should have formatted the Windows partition using NTSF.
How do i combine pictures on iPhoto? I have four jpegs, which i want to be on one jpeg. I thought i could do that with Pages, but i don't think i can save the files as jpegs.
I bought this little icon creating program and have used it for years and really like it for it's simplicity of creating custom icons for my Mac.
I've tried using the information sent to me by the developer when I purchased the shareware but I keep getting a Could not connect to host [URL] message and am not able to validate my registration.
I have imported an album from CD but iTunes INSISTS that track one is one album, and tracks 2-4 are another - though it gives both albums the same name. So the "second" album has tracks 2-4 of 4 and the first, 1 of 4. I have done all the usual stuff, selected them all and bulk changed / retyped artist, album name , cover art etc. Anything I might be missing?
I've created a 15 page proposal in Apple Pages, each page as a independent Pages doc. Is it possible to combine all into one Apple Pages doc/file so I don't have 15 separate ones?
I've been using Adium... but I wanted to try out iChat for a bit. I created my facebook account, AIM, and google... but they all have separate buddy lists. That's dumb haha
Is there a way to combine these buddy lists like Adium does?
What does iChat do that Adium doesn't? Pros and cons of each?
At work I receive various medical records for clients. It would be helpful to take a stack of medical records from a specific doctor, scan them into PDF's, and then tag each page of the stack with the name of the provider and date of service. Then, as additional records come in from various providers, and I repeat the process, I would hope to have the ability to combine all the records if need be sort the entire set of records by date, or if I choose to have them sort by provider. I know it would require some manual tagging but overall I think would save a great deal of time. I cant find a single program that will enable me to do this. I'm looking to have the ability to quickly rearrange the pages of a pdf file based on tags or labels that I add.
I have my mac setup at home. I have mobile me to sync 2 of my macs and my iphone. Mobile me synchronizes all that can be synchronized.
My boss got me a mac and is connected in a Windows Exchange environment. It works great. But I want to combine my work calendar with my private calendars.
So, I want to bring the exchange calendar of my work computer to show in my private calendars in my mac at home and in my iphone. Maybe through publishing and subscription...?
The issue is that I do not want to put my mobile me password in this work computer, since it is a "Company computer" and it's going to sync all my private info.
How bad can it get if I put my mobile me credentials in this work computer and syncs all my private info? Is there a potential that my info be out in the open for all to see in my workplace?
I want to capture selections on my screen and add comments. Is there a program out there that will allow me to do that? I don't like the "grab it" program because it saves the captured file in a Tiff format instead of a Jpeg format.
Okay, I was working with iMovie and did something cool...but I don't know how I did it or how to repeat what I did.
I managed to make one "clip" which consists of 6 or 7 photos (imported from iPhoto)...and on top of (inside of?) that clip is the "far far away" title (the Star Wars one). I tried to do the same thing again, and couldn't figure out how I did it in the first place! Oops. Any clues would be great (I tried highlighting several pics and dragging them down to the timeline together...didn't work. I also tried a few other things, but no luck).
My MBP has a 320GB harddrive with like 240GB used on it but I only have two 250 GB harddrives so you can see the problem I'm in. I would like to combine into a single virtual drive so that it can accommodate my Time Machine backups.
is it possible to take a program made from a PC and make it run on a mac? without crossover (it never works)its not a complex program but it never works from me
I'm looking for an app that will allow me to specify which folders I want to copy to my external drive, updating existing files within it and copying new ones.
I don't want to backup settings, my whole harddrive nor make a bootable backup. Just something to backup what I want to backup and where.
Not sure if Time Machine can do that, but it wants me to reformat my external before I can even find out..and considering how much is on there, I really don't want to have to remove that all elsewhere while doing so. [Don't think I could anyway, none of my internal drives have that much space.]
So, does anyone know of a relatively painless backup app that could do simply what I want? Doesn't sound all that complicated in comparison to some of the more convoluted backup apps I keep finding.
I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.
I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? I'm with Virgin media and have a separate set of email address through my website for my business so my email address are through freeola that I am using through Thunderbird.I'm sorry if this all sounds very stupid but I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out where I have gone wrong!
So, I've been using Windows all my life. Some not by choice.
My notebook died and I'm in search for a new one and I'm considering the macbook.
The only question I have is, will it run every Windows program without any issues? I'm going to be using this for work. Besides your typical Office suite, I run AutoCAD, Adobe CS, Audio and Video editing and burning. And all the licenses are for Windows.
I just want to make sure I won't have any software issues before taking the leap.
I guess what I'm asking is, is Windows under an Apple hardware work exactly as Windows would?
I just started a new class and it involves the use of a program that needs Windows to run. I have no idea how I will be able to use it with a Mac. I asked my professor and he suggested installing Vmware. I did this and I don't know what to do because the disc still won't run. Does anyone know how I can get Windows on my Mac so I can run this program? I am not that savvy when it comes to computers.
I ran the bootcamp utility on my Macbookpro with no problems. Selected the first option for partition of 32Gb, ran the XP Pro SP2 disc and it never gave me the option to format... Obviously got a "disc error, press any key to continue" message since the drive is not "bootable." So I found a thread online that sent me to the XP site to discuss FAT32 issues. The drive can't be larger than 32Gb (which it shows 32,600 after the partition), so I deleted the part. and rebuilt it at 30Gb. Still didn't give me the option to format the drive! It shows the partitions, so I select the C:yatta-yatta-/bootcampwhatever , press enter and it starts installing... Any idea on how to force the XP setup program to allow me to format the silly partition?
