How do I stop a mail merge from Address Book to Pages from throwing a new page for each entry?I've got a row of 'first name: second name... etc, etc, and just want a single page with all the address book group on it.But the merge makes each name and address on a new page.

Whenever I print a mailing envelope in Lion's Address Book, it prints fine but then prints a blank page following. How can I stop this?

A friend's G4 iMac has died - possibly with a fried mainboard - and she didn't have a backup of her Address Book, which is a big problem for her. I've pulled the hard drive and using an IDE-to-USB adapter on my MBP have confirmed that it's still working.
We need to merge the Address Book details from the G4 HD into the Address Book on her MacBook - so at the risk of asking a dumb question, what's the best way of doing this?
I've just taken a look at the Address Book import options, and it looks like "Import... Address Book archive" might be what we want, but do you need to have specifically exported an archive first (which of course she hasn't, and won't be able to do anyway), or by "archive" does it mean "older version of Address Book"? I don't want to try it without getting some kind of clarification first, just in case it wipes the existing contacts from her MacBook rather than simply merge the ones from the old drive.
I have created a document in Pages that consists of 10 certification cards on one page. I want to mail merge names, dates etc. from a Numbers file but have each card on the one page contain a different name, date etc. When I mail merge it adds the same person to each card on the page and then creates a new page for each additional person.

I purchased a Mac computer with Snow Leopard already installed on the computer, and somewhere along the way I deleted iCal. As I understand it from the Apple link below, iCal is "bundled" with Mac Mail and Address Book [URL]. And that Mac Mail can be configured to include online email accounts like gmail. I'm currently using Mac Mail 4.3 (1081), and as far as I know, I cannot use this version of Mac Mail to include online email like gmail. This particular version of Mac Mail is corrupted on my computer as the plus sign and edit buttons on the bottom of the Address Book are not visible. I am interested in re-gaining the use of the plus sign and edit button within the Mac Mail Address Book, and also in accessing online email accounts within Mac Mail.
Since Snow Leopard was already installed on my computer when I purchased it, I don't currently have a Snow Leopard installation disk. As such, what is the best way for me to update my Mac Mail application in order to use the Address Book and online email account applications mentioned above within Mac Mail. My best guess is to purchase the Snow Leopard installation disk independently, and use Pacifist software to extract iCal from this disk, and through iCal, use Mac Mail for my two applications of interest.
I've recently IMAP-ed my Gmail to my Apple Mail.
When I press 'Get Mail', it begins importing my entire GMAIL inbox (complete with 1000s of emails). Is there any way to stop this?
For years I had no trouble printing envelopes straight from Address book. But since I upgraded to Lion, when I print an envelope, it prints (1) the envelope just fine, but then also (2) a blank 8.5"x11" page. How do I get it to stop printing the extra page?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI save all my contacts in Address Book in the First Name field (not using Last Name Field). When I use Mail to send emails, somehow last name of the sender/recipient gets added to that person's contact. So John Harris becomes John Harris Harris - super annoying!
Someone suggested to delete all from Recent Recipients in Mail - I did that, it helped but only in relation to those contacts who have been deleted from Recent Recipients - is there a way to disable Mail poaching surnames from my emails and inserting them into address book automatically?
Using a G4 IBOOK with OS 10.5.8. Recently converted IBOOK from just my wifes computer to both of us so it is now dual usuage with both of us signing in to our respective files/e-mail, etc. My side has a problem never experienced before. My apple mail system address book has all the names the dock address book does but is missing almost 2/3rd of the actual e-mail addressess. I have tried to redo the dock address book in hopes it would change the "internal" mail book, but to no avail. It id difficult to add a recipient to an outgoing e-mail via the dock address instead of the apple mail address book.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery time my co-worker exports a group vCard for me to import into my address book, a note is added (in the notes field) to each vCard which begins "Categories:..." followed by a list of Address Book Groups which that card belonged to on his Mac. How do we STOP address book from appending this note every time he exports a group vCard - it's hard for me to individually delete this text from every card that I import (I do NOT want or need this "Categories" information in the notes of my address book cards). I wish iCloud was an option for us right now, but since I cannot upgrade my computer right now, it is not.

In going from Tiger to Leopard, I backed up my HD to an external, but I apparently didn't do it correctly because Migration Assistant acted like the files were not there. So, I manually copied my files over along with select apps & preferences files.I got everything (Firefox, Thunderbird, etc) working exactly how I left them in Tiger. But, I messed up my Address Book and Mail. Now when I try to use them it says "You cannot use this version of the application [app name] with this version of Mac OS X.Is there a way to just reinstall these two apps without starting over with a fresh install?

My Mail and Address Book do not appear to be talking very well. Out of the box, the mail application does not appear to let me select recipients from the Address Book when composing a message. I added the "Address Book" button to the toolbar for composing a message. I can click this and bring up the address book, but there is still seemingly no way to select recipients from the Address Book.
I read somewhere that the "auto complete" function is supposed to reach out to Address Book when entering recipients' names in the "To" line. This is not working. I found some suggestions to go and delete a file in the Library that governs this function. I did that, but it has not worked.
What am I missing? Why is it so difficult to select people from your address book and send them an email from the Mail application? Is something broken here or is this a reality for this Mac? My wife is ready to kill me for throwing out her beloved PC.
My mail and address book (contacts) were working fine, but now Mail does not recognize the address book. It is still there, but Mail says it is invalid.

Unless there was a way to back up all the info to a thumb drive or CD for later reinstall.

When I wanted to send an email, I would drag and drop from Address Book to the "To:" field in Mail and it would add the contact information to Mail. I upgraded to Lion, and now when I try this, the address icon moves like it should, the little green circle with the + in it appears when I hover over the field, but when I release it does not add the address to Mail. The drag and drop does not work at all, but it looks like it should. I have searched all around but have not found any information about this.

I'm able to create groups just fine in Address book. However when it comes to using them in Mail, they won't work: I type the first couple of characters and Mail offers to auto-complete, so it does know about them. When I hit return at that point *nothing* appears in the address field, it just stays blank.
