Aug 8, 2007I am tempted to buy iWork '08 but the killer feature in MS Word for me is the grammar checking. Does the new version of Pages have this feature?

Nov 4, 2009When the Word Spelling & Grammar Checker identifies a word it does not recognise in a Word Document the option to "Add" that word to the Dictionary is not available as an option. (The key is there but the colour subdued and clicking on it has no effect).

Im currently in college and I have like 5 essays to write for different classes and I would like to scan these papers before I turn them in. I want to be a 100% sure there is not plagiarism at all. I know this can be avoided but not copying anything exactly is it is online or in books but sometimes even if it not copied exactly the same it can be considered plagiarism.

Oct 19, 2009I have Office 2004 for Mac running on OSX10.3.9 on an eMac. In Word, under Tools, the Spelling and Grammar function is gone although when typing, errors are underlined as usual. On other user accounts on the eMac, the Spelling and Grammar function is there under Tools.
What gives/ How can i get it back?
Would trashing a pref file help? If so, which one?

Applications :: IWork 08 Pages Tables/Pages Does Not Retain Its Table Formatting?
Sep 17, 2008When copying a table from say a webpage or even a RTF file, Pages does not retain its table formatting. Instead it separates the rows and columns and puts them on separate lines.
See it for yourself, try copying one of the tables on this page into Pages [URL]
The only way I can get the table into Pages is to paste into NeoOffice (which retains the correct formating), save the file with the .doc extension then open in Pages.

Mar 24, 2010I need to open a few Pages files but I don't have Pages installed on this computer. I understand you can convert Pages files to .doc or .pdf within the application, but unfortunately I won't have access to the computer with the program installed for a while.
Is there some sort of (free) converter that can convert .pages files to .doc or .pdf or even .rtf?
Or even better, a document creator/viewer than can open .pages files?

May 12, 2010I'm trying to create pages that have all black backgrounds. I've been doing this by using the Shapes tool, choosing a rectangle, filling in the entire white space for the page, which is 8x11, and then filling in with black.
The problem is that when I do this, Pages seems to think that I want this page and the following page to be connected, in some way. When I look at the two pages in the thumnail view, the yellow outline is around both pages, rather than each individually.
Anybody know how to keep this from happening. Or the right way to create full black backgrounds for pages in Pages?

Dec 31, 2009For some reason many of my typing includes double letters not wanted, like a double "i" (ii) as in "askiing". My spell checker does not pickk up on this all the time. Have I told the Mac to ignore double i's or something? I have it set to red-underline mis-spelled words as I type. It has underlined both 'askiing' and 'pickk' words above, but in emails it does not.

The first time I ran the checker and just chose Keep. It then asked a similar question and I chose Keep again. Then it checked programs, etc. I rebooted and ran it again, and go the same message. This time, I just did not answer and the script time ran out.

My spellcheck is not working right, it underlines the word but when I right click nothing happens. The folders on my desktop are all shrunk and I cannot find a way to make them bigger. Most of my Apps are gone from the doc, and when I put them back they are not there when I turn the computer back on. What did she do? Is there a way to 'lock' the computer when she is playinga game on it?
