When opening Word 2011 I get a message coming up that spell checker is missing and as a result I can close the dialoge box and use the program. It has been working fine until today.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy 3yr old was playing a game and when she was done it appears that she was also playing with my Mactop. My spellcheck is not working right, it underlines the word but when I right click nothing happens. The folders on my desktop are all shrunk and I cannot find a way to make them bigger. Most of my Apps are gone from the doc, and when I put them back they are not there when I turn the computer back on. What did she do? Is there a way to 'lock' the computer when she is playinga game on it?

I have an iMac, my wife and daughter have macbooks. All work OK except that my daughter is unable to have any application do spell checking.
How is spell checking set up? What should I tell my daughter to do to set it up, she is away at Uni so I have to be precise.
I have a 2007 MacBook, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS 10.4.11 (which I got free of charge from a friend who didn't like dealing with the "unrecognized" battery).
I would like to know how to unghost the Spell Checker "learn" button, if that is possible. There does not appear to be an option in the preferences.
On my Macbook running Leopard, I mostly write in French. When the OS is set to French language, the built-in dictionary spell checker is also obviously set to French. But I prefer running the OS itself in English. Is there a way to have the English OS, but the spell checker in French ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason many of my typing includes double letters not wanted, like a double "i" (ii) as in "askiing". My spell checker does not pickk up on this all the time. Have I told the Mac to ignore double i's or something? I have it set to red-underline mis-spelled words as I type. It has underlined both 'askiing' and 'pickk' words above, but in emails it does not.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Snow Leopard, I went to the Dictionary application and changed the preference to "British English (IPA)" but it still checks things like colour as misspelled. is there something I am missing? I went to System Preferences>International and under the Text tap changed spelling to "British English" but still it flags colour as wrong... am I missing something?

When I started using Firefox with my macbook, If I mispelled a word, It shows a red line under it, and I would double click it and it give me a list of words to choose from. Now it doesnt do this and just gives me the regular right click window.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I tried to save a word file, the system keep telling me "this file is being used by another program, please save again" then the file name turned into something like "Word Work File L_230232796.tmp" and I have to choose another name for the file. Besides, sometimes the new file cannot be opened correctly.

When ever I run Microsoft Word on my macbook pro, esp. publishing layout view, it runs super slow. When I add a picture to the doc, it spins its wheels. When I want to print, it spins its wheels.

I created a file yesterday and when I tried to open it today, it was somehow renamed to "Word Work File L_1.tmp". I tried to open it but i got an error message saying "The application Microsoft Word can't be opened- 108" and so i tried deleting it but i got an error " The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found.
(Error code -43)" ARGHh! I can't even rename it or anything! its just there and i cant even remove it.
So I copied and pasted a new one and renamed it (yes i could somehow copy and paste) and that one can open, rename and close, so its normal. I havnt tried restarting my macbook because i have another app opened and i would possibly like to not restart or anything at the moment.

When I am running spellcheck, sometimes I need to click on "ignore" and sometimes on "ignore all". If I click on "ignore" the first time and then move on to the second queried word "ignore" doesn't work. I have to click on "ignore all". Then the third time "ignore all" doesn't work and then I click on "ignore". So basically I have to alternate between the two options all of the time.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am running Lion 10.7.3 on a 2.8GHz CoreDuo iMac from 2007 and on a Macbok Air 2.13 GHz Core duo from 2010. The iMac has 4GB of RAM the Macbook has 2 GB RAM.
I run Microsoft Office 2011 on both machines. For the same file the Macbook operates normally on Word and Excel. The iMac is slow at best and when I try a Save As it hangs for up to 15 minutes brfor letting me change the FIle Name. This effectively makes it unusable.
As far as I can tell the set up of Office on both Machines is identical and I have eliminated duplicate Fonts as suggested by some posts but the problem remains. I have checked Activity Monitor and I am not getting any Page Outs so RAM does not appear to be an issue.
found it crashes every time I try to print or save a PDF version of my work. It's running on a Macbook pro under OSX 10.6.5, and printing to a Canon MP 150 connected to my G5 running under OSX 10.4.11. Pages prints just fine from the Macbook using the remote connection, so what the? Saw a post that talked about font weeding, which I then checked out, & found & deleted some duplicate fonts, but it didnt .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created a document that has a few check boxes in Word 2010 on a PC. On the PC, if you click on the empty check box, it will become 'checked' which is what I want. When I use the same document on Word 2011 on the Mac, it doesn't seem to have the same functionality.
