Apr 29, 2010A friend sent me a .mp3 file of a theme song and asked me to speed it up to 1.5 or double speed. I tried adjusting tempo but it doesn't seem to do much. Can I do this in GB?

Jan 10, 2009I'm really new for Garageband on Mac. I import file to the Garageband - ( orange line). I want to adjust it to higher key but cannot adjust the pitch (the pitch turn grey and I can't adjust nothing). How can I adjust the pitch for make it higher key.

Feb 13, 2010I recorded a single track on GarageBand, and I can only get the audio to come out of the left speaker. There is no sound of any kind coming out of the right speaker. If I pan the track all the way to the right, no sound comes out at all. I've tried duplicating the track and panning one all the way to the left, and then panning another all the way to the right, but I've had no luck with this either.

Dec 2, 2014Recording a track this morning - 1,2,3,4,5, all going well, overdubbing acoustic rhythm, lead, vocal, and so forth-
Recording track 6, my song just comes to a screeching halt at 00:48.
Press PLAY and it just plays a split second right at 00:48.
"Loop" feature clicked on, off. Same same. Song starts at beginning, everything ok, then at 00:48, track stops. Press "play" and hear a split second of 00:48 music.
Deleted track I was working on, created new track, song halts at 00:48.
Saved project, quit GB, relaunched, song stops at 00:48.
Plenty of memory, I back up every day.

Feb 23, 2009I took everyone's suggestions and downloaded NeoOffice instead of using TextEdit. Since my entire document was in TextEdit, I just decided to copy and paste all the text into NeoOffice. Little did I realize that my book I'm writing has grown to 98 PAGES! Obviously, as soon as it got the document imported, the entire thing froze up. I haven't been able to get it to work well at all. I'm using a Powerbook G4 1.67ghz 1GB RAM, Radeon 9700. I can't believe that such a computer can't handle simple word processing tasks, and I'm convinced that it's a software issue.
I'm running Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.6 with all latest updates.

Jul 23, 2008in the last two days, when i make something in garageband and i want to export to disk. before i would choose my desktop and after normalizing and converting...it would put a mp3 on my desktop. recently when i do this, it normalizes the track...but it just stops after that....no mp3 on my desktop....i have to send it to itunes now and then pull it out of itunes to have an mp3....what is going on?

May 23, 2010I'm having Trouble when i connect my guitar to my imac I'm using the midi guitar cable that i bought from the Apple shop along with my imac a few years back.
I'm just about to start recording some of my own music Bass,Drum,guitar. Everything is pretty much sorted but since i started to use garageband 09 i keep getting this message pop up (Below).
It's getting to the point of frustration because no matter what option i select it will still pop up. Please can anyone shed any light on this for me and help please.

May 31, 2010I have a couple questions regarding GarageBand 08 and recording with it.
1) Is it possible to connect a vocal mic to GarageBand, put an effect on that, and have a live output of the signal coming from the mic with the effect on it without having to record the audio first?
2) I have a Yamaha keyboard that has a MIDI and 1/4" jack output on. I am interested in connecting the keyboard to my Mac for use in recording. Would it be possible to run the audio signal from the 1/4" jack to the 1/8" jack on my Mac and record the audio in GarageBand and be able to apply effects to that track (i.e. synthesizers)?

Jan 25, 2007I'm having trouble getting sound out of Garageband - I've boiled it down to simply trying to play simple Apple loops or use musical typing to play software instruments. Sound is working properly in all other applications, including iTunes, Peak and Final Cut Pro. Audio input/output is set to Built-In in both GB preferences and Audio-Midi preferences. The MIDI is recording (ie, I can see a track appear when I play, and I see levels in the track) but for some reason the audio is not getting down to the mixer below (volume is up all the way on individual track and bottom right main, mute is off). I'm running OS 10.4.8 with Garageband 3.0.2.

It plugs into the line-in part on my gf's MBP (the one next to the headphone port, right?), and i choose "Line-In" from the sound preference pane... but it's still using the internal mic when recording on garageband. I also remember trying to record with my guitar plugged into the comp, and that didn't work either.

Feb 19, 2009I switched to a mac almost a year ago. About a month after purchasing my macbook, i installed this application, and then i didn't want it anymore. The app didn't uninstall properly and it crippled the mac (in my rookie mind). I then made another stupid decision of reinstalling leopard on the macbook. Everything installed correctly except garageband 08. It wasn't there, since i never used it, i just forgot about it later until i got a copy from a friend who recently purchased an imac. I just copied the app onto a flash drive and put it on the macbook. The app worked, except there wasn't any instruments, loops, etc. Now i want to use grageband and i was wondering how i can get those back. Are they on one of the install dvd's? Do i copy folders from my friends mac to mine?, if so which ones and where?

Mar 9, 2010Have MacBook Pro, running on OSx and on 10.4.8. Using Sibelius 3. I am the only music teacher in my school so do not have the luxury of an accompaninist. I thought all my problems were solved when I discovered the wonderful real sounding steinway piano in garageband. So I input my piano score note for note into sibelius, then save it as a midi. Before I do it I input all my tempo edits such as rits, pauses and accelerandos and so on. I then drag my new midi into garageband and yes it plays beautifully only problem is it doesn't play any of my tempo instructions. Yes I have checked that they're playing back correctly in sibelius before I saved as midi. Pleas help me as I have practical exams for my students coming up very quickly and it is causing me severe stress

I have an Apple Lossless file over five hours long in iTunes. When I try to drag it into Garageband, it acts as though it is importing, but then tells me the ".aiff file is empty". But if I play the file in Quicktime, iTunes and in the iTunes section of Garageband, it plays fine.

However on the new version of garage band i cant find this anymore. has it gone or can i just not find it?
