I've been trying to find out what kind of guitar it is.
I've seen that type of guitar out in the wild, but I could never remember out what type it was (the similar rounded shape) when I went to find out more info.
I admit I have never really touched a real guitar in my life (obviously a Rock Band guitar does not count). But since I just got my new 27" iMac, I came to the realization that learning guitar with GarageBand might actually be pretty interesting.
So, what is the minimum buying requirements in order to start learning guitar when you are starting with nothing (other than GarageBand itself, of course).
Here is what I think I need at a minimum, but I want to make sure: Acoustic Electric OR Electric guitar. A regular acoustic guitar won't work because it does not have a line output (is that correct?).
I have seen some acoustic electric guitars on eBay for less than $100. What do I need to make sure the Guitar comes with before buying? [By the way, I have my eye on one acoustic electric guitar that comes with an Active Pickup ... is active pickup necessary?] 1/4" to 1/8" adapater
Here are some extras that might be nice for better tone, but are not required: USB or Firewire Audio Interface. I think I have seen I can get one of these for $50-$100 A microphone to connect to the audio interface An amplifier
I was thinking of starting with the minimum requirements (assuming what I listed is the minimum) and if I decide I enjoy this, go for the extras I listed.
I've linked my guitar up to GarageBand and am trying to get a setting which sounds metal like, but at the same time sounds clear and i'm failing. It produces a good sound but its so full of noise its unbelievable.
The guitar has no noise when its on a setting which doesn't have distortion/fuzz or gain on it, but then i don't have a metal sound.
Does anyone have any idea how i can make such a setting?
I have an electric guitar plugged into the instrument input of an Apogee Duet recording interface.
If I add a "real instrument" track, then I can select the input channel in the "track info" pane in GB. Works fine, I can hear the guitar. But I can't access the various guitar effects and models.
To do that I create an "electric guitar" track instead. However, when I do that, I don't see any option to select the input channel in the track info pane.
And I don't hear any sound. Apple help just says I should "select the input channel in the track info pane" but I don't see it there, like it is for a "real instrument"...
I'm trying to record my guitar directly into Garageband or Audacity using my mac, it's running Tiger 10.4.8. Here's my setup, my electric guitar is connected to my amp and my amp is connected to an external sound card through the line in port which is then connected to the mac via usb.
I have set everything up as per different peoples instructions and i can record in Garageband, the problem is that there is a massive amount of excess noise, it's a like a massive roar when you try to record.
If i turn the input volume down really low it's not so bad but then you can't hear the guitar properly, if i turn it up you can hear the guitar but the roar makes it unrecordable. What should i do?
how do i plug my guitar into garage band, i mean once i plug my guitar in. how do i switch from my input source from built in microphone when that is the only option under input source?
I want to use my guitar hero controller with my mac to like play music not play games.I plan to use GamePad Companion, but I need a driver to make the guitar work. Right now I am looking at the driver called xbox 360 controllers" the only is that its not detecting my controller. If it matters I am running a ibook G41.33 GHz 1.25Gb OSx 10.5.8.
I've heard Office:Mac isn't that great, and doesn't make up for what iWork 09 is missing. So I'm wondering what people think about it and why does it get such a bland reputation? Also, do people use a combination of the above? Such as iWork and Office:Windows? Both Offices? I do mainly word processing, some soft Excel work (no hardcore giant spreadsheets...yet), and general PowerPoints for presentations. I have access to cheap iWork/Offices (school discount) and a family pack of the top-level edition of Office:PC (family) so it isn't a big deal to get any of the above.
Lastly, what's the difference between Camino and Firefox? I use Firefox currently and love it, mainly due to the add-ons (weather at the bottom, Gmail alert, skins, page views, other customizations). Tabs seem to be on all browsers these days, so are there any other key differences?
in the last two days, when i make something in garageband and i want to export to disk. before i would choose my desktop and after normalizing and converting...it would put a mp3 on my desktop. recently when i do this, it normalizes the track...but it just stops after that....no mp3 on my desktop....i have to send it to itunes now and then pull it out of itunes to have an mp3....what is going on?
Instead of reinstalling GB on another HD by CD/DVD, is it possible to just take the GB Library Folder and take the app too? Or is it not possible? If I can, do I need any other files?
I'm having Trouble when i connect my guitar to my imac I'm using the midi guitar cable that i bought from the Apple shop along with my imac a few years back.
I'm just about to start recording some of my own music Bass,Drum, guitar. Everything is pretty much sorted but since i started to use garageband 09 i keep getting this message pop up (Below).
It's getting to the point of frustration because no matter what option i select it will still pop up. Please can anyone shed any light on this for me and help please.
I have a couple questions regarding GarageBand 08 and recording with it.
1) Is it possible to connect a vocal mic to GarageBand, put an effect on that, and have a live output of the signal coming from the mic with the effect on it without having to record the audio first?
2) I have a Yamaha keyboard that has a MIDI and 1/4" jack output on. I am interested in connecting the keyboard to my Mac for use in recording. Would it be possible to run the audio signal from the 1/4" jack to the 1/8" jack on my Mac and record the audio in GarageBand and be able to apply effects to that track (i.e. synthesizers)?
Can anyone send original icon of Garandband 11 please. The problem is that I change the icon for another one and now I want the original but I can find it in any sit web.
I'm having trouble getting sound out of Garageband - I've boiled it down to simply trying to play simple Apple loops or use musical typing to play software instruments. Sound is working properly in all other applications, including iTunes, Peak and Final Cut Pro. Audio input/output is set to Built-In in both GB preferences and Audio-Midi preferences. The MIDI is recording (ie, I can see a track appear when I play, and I see levels in the track) but for some reason the audio is not getting down to the mixer below (volume is up all the way on individual track and bottom right main, mute is off). I'm running OS 10.4.8 with Garageband 3.0.2.
I can't figure out how to use a new microphone with garageband. It plugs into the line-in part on my gf's MBP (the one next to the headphone port, right?), and i choose "Line-In" from the sound preference pane... but it's still using the internal mic when recording on garageband. I also remember trying to record with my guitar plugged into the comp, and that didn't work either.
I am going to purchase Yamaha DTXpress electronic drum set and I'll want to connect it to my Mac with GarageBand. The sound module of the drum set has midi-in-out (big round ports). What cable to I need to make garageband see not a single audio-wave, but a track where each hit on the drums is actually a separate note?
Is buying logic advisable if I use garageband? The thing I cannot wait to try is MainStage, it looks fantastic. Is there seriously that much of a difference between logic and garageband? Right now however, I'm just messing around with garageband and such. Is there seriously that much of a difference between logic and garageband? Though in the next few months, I plan on utilizing my mac more professional reasons. The reasons I bought it for, recording. (So far, its just an expensive type writer).
I switched to a mac almost a year ago. About a month after purchasing my macbook, i installed this application, and then i didn't want it anymore. The app didn't uninstall properly and it crippled the mac (in my rookie mind). I then made another stupid decision of reinstalling leopard on the macbook. Everything installed correctly except garageband 08. It wasn't there, since i never used it, i just forgot about it later until i got a copy from a friend who recently purchased an imac. I just copied the app onto a flash drive and put it on the macbook. The app worked, except there wasn't any instruments, loops, etc. Now i want to use grageband and i was wondering how i can get those back. Are they on one of the install dvd's? Do i copy folders from my friends mac to mine?, if so which ones and where?
