Im trying to make a copy of a DVD. Ive used Mac the Ripper to rip the entire DVD. I have it in a Video_TS folder waiting to be burnt. I was going to use the app "Burn" to burn it, but the Video_TS is currently too large to be brunt to a DVD. I need to compress it first. I know apps like Popcorn and Toast can do this, but I dont have the money to pay for any software right now, and I am looking for a free solution.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to copy 2000 or so files (jpg images) from the hard drive of my imac running show leopard to a sd card. I keep getting the item "filename.jpg" can't be copied because there isn't enough free space. I can go back and copy smaller groups of files and then the file that I get the error on. But even coping 10 files I run into the error on certain files but I can copy all the other files in the selection and then the file that gave the error without a problem. All the files were exported from iPhoto resized to fit a digital photo frame I bought for a christmas present. Looking for a way to get the files to the sd card without coping small batches.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI confess, Windows 7 is a good OS, even though 90% of its "features" you could find hidden in either WinXP or Vista, but the usability feature for me that fits in this 10% "new features" category was definitely Aero Snap and up to date there was no 1:1 Mac solution.Now I was extatic to download that handy Cinch tool fro And yes, in my opinion it looks even more elegant and feels more natural on Mac OS X than Windows but that is my highly biased opinion.

I tried using the Disk Utility but once it ripped it the image was over 6 gigs and I can't figure out how to burn it to a new disk...do I compress it as if it were a media dvd?is there a program that will rip the data to an image that is already compressed?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have automator running a weekly task of making a copy of a 10gb folder (database) and into copying 2 (120 seconds) minutes of the 10 minutes it is going to take automator comes back with an error "Finder got an error" Connection is invalid. I know its the size of the folder as i ran it on a different folder and ran successfully. How can i extent the "timeout" period of when it is copying a folder? it needs at least 10 minutes to copy 10gb.

As such I am wondering if it's possible to copy of selection of music from iTunes to an attached USB device/drive on a Mac. I'm thinking that I am going to have to go through Finder and copy it that way but I'm not sure.
When you select text that is not adjacent to each other using the command+drag method, in most mac applications you are able to copy and cut it, or delete it.
In iworks, it won't let you do anything with it! Is there any way around this? It's really annoying.
I want to copy my iTunes library from one external drive (currently connected to an iBook) to a 2nd external drive (connected to an eMac). The library is almost 60GB and so can not fit on either machine's hard drive.
The music currently plays through the iBook from the first external drive.
I want to be able to play the same music on the eMac (through the 2nd external drive).
Which is the best way to go about this?
Should I:
a) Connect the 1st external drive to the eMac and manually drag and drop the music from there to the 2nd external drive, or
b)Use Silverkeeper Basckup and do a backup of the Music folder in the 1st drive to the 2nd drive, after connecting the 1st to the eMac?
or is there not much difference in doing either? Or is there a more efficient option using iTunes?
All of my music is now on my external HD. When I add the music to iTunes it automatically copies everything to my internal HD. I don't want that. How do I add to iTunes without copying to my internal HD?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI had to restore my library a while ago...no problem, dragged it onto the desktop, iTunes rebuilt it from the .xml file and everything was fine...only problem is now I'm trying to tidy up my desktop and those two pesky library files won't stay deleted from the desktop no matter how man times I trash them...Now, I understand the library file needs to update itself and all, but why can't it keep it's business confined to the iTunes folder?

Moving files from Windows XP/VMware Fusion to a destination on the Mac OS side is as easy as dragging files over to Finder and dropping them when the Finder window becomes active. However, I haven't been able to do the reverse operation.
There's got to be an easy way to move files from the Mac side over to XP/VMware.. But I might lose my mind before I discover it.

On a PC I had a decent workflow that involved a decrypter, a compressor, and Roxio burning ROM. Now on a Mac I'm a bit lost. I've used handbrake to rip DVDs to be playable in iTunes and have Burn installed, but there seems to be something missing, namely a compression tool and the ability to keep the original DVDs menu structure, etc. I know about Mactheripper but am lost after that. Shed some light on this for me?

I update my contacts in my MacBook Pro. Other than manually re-entering the same info into my iMac, is there some way to "copy over" the data from the MacBook to the iMac? I also have a Mac Mini Snow Leopard server, and am not interested in using MobileMe.

What's the best (Software)Firewall solution for OS X. At the moment I work with a mixed environment ( ipfw, Apple Application Firewall and Little Snitch ). It seems to be secure, but this is an absolute overhead. I noticed, that my internet performance slowed down. For the moment I'm not able to spend money on a hardware solution. I'm searching for a complete Firewall software that controls incoming as well as outgoing connections ( Apple seems not to be interested in distributing a complete and easy waterproof solution ). Unfortunately ipfw offers no application control. I'm not a security expert, thus I need an easy configurable firewall.
