I've just learned a good way of having my company logo entered in the header with a fair bit of customization. Also a footer, but after creating a new sheet from template it crashes. Using office for mac 2004 11.5.5, what I can do or a different way to quickly enter, macros look a bit complex for an amateur like me.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to make an excel sheet on all of my photos. I have found a program to exports exif information in html or txt files and it is the only program I have found that displays the fields I need (Windows XP title, comments, keywords, etc). Anyway, the program will only export all of the data (I can't just select the fields I want) and it also makes a new files for each photos (and names them whatever the photo is named so yes sequential). I have been playing with importing html and txt files into Excel 2008 and need help. I am looking for a way to only import the rows I need and to automate it so I don't have to do 10,000 photos by hand.
On another forum, it was suggested to use VBA (visual basics) in excel on windows which looks promising but I know little about it and will have to borrow my sister's dell to do. Another suggestion was to combine the text files and use a Macro in excel in which I also have little idea on how to use. Can Apple Script or Automator or any thing else help me here? I know Excel 2008 for Mac doesn't have VB but what about macro on it?
Is there a size limit for importing an Excel File into Numbers? The error message says the file is too large. Has this been changed in i-work 09? The file has multiple sheets that refer to each other, but i can't even open at this point. It is 3.1 MB.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had great success with Excel 2011 on OS 10.6.8. Up until today. Now, Excel crashes on launch, tries to recover, and crashes again. I read the previous comments about a) hold down shift key and launch and b) delete the /plist file. Tried both, no success. I can still launch Excel 2008, fyi. And Word, etc, all other MS office products...

I am searching for a plugin, software or a solution for a situation I have with an Excel/Word Mail Merge.
It's a law firm we specialize in DUI/DWI and Reckless Driving defense. We subscribe to a data collection service that pulls data from various court systems around the state. We are then given this data by jurisdiction. The Excel files we receive come with 2 workbooks in one file for Traffic and Criminal arrests data with name, address, reason for arrest, etc, etc.
What I have been doing is opening each Excel file and copying and pasting into a new worksheet only grabbing the DUI and Reckless driving arrests because tis is all I am needing from the various files. I then save the new workbook and do a mail merge with Word from this newly created workbook.
Now my question is there such a plugin or software that will combine all the Excel files I receive from the Data collection house and then be able to filter out only the DUI and Reckless Driving arrests to a single Excel Workbook?
1. Turned the List Manager on by accident in Excel. Can't figure out how to turn it off now. I am using Excel 2004, and a MAC mouse - so no right-clicking for me...
2. How do I move columns in Excel? I select the column on top, but then try dragging it to a place I'd like it to move, but nothing happens. How do I do that?
3. General Mac Word/Excel question - how do I get to use "Home" and "End" buttons? When I hit them I simply jump somewhere, but not to the beginning or end of the paragraph. I have a MAC keyboard with the "Home" and "End" buttons along with the "Help", "Delete", "Pg Up" and "Pg Dwn" keys - basically it looks a lot like a PC keyboard...
I am sending out resume's to many different people and they each have very minor adjustments. I thought I could just make a 'draft' and change the receiver's email address etc. but when ever I hit send even if it was saved as a draft it is then gone after the send. Is there a way to make a template so it will send but I will still have it saved in 'draft's after?

I am really struggling with the weather part!! I need to somehow pull the temp and if its snowing or raining from the internet into excel. I have all the addresses and zip codes for each property. I was thinking i could write a formula that looks at an RSS feed or website (like yahoo or Google weather) based on the zip code of the address. I could also write the formula that pulls the weather to excel then VLOOKUP the zip. Does anyone have any ideas about this?? I am not sure what to do!!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a template consisting of two different pages.
I have created both pages, selected them individually in the Page Thumbnails bar and selected Format > Advanced > Capture Pages and they both appear in the Sections tab.
My problem however, is when I select the second of the sections (the one I wish to duplicate multiple times within a new document), it inserts two new pages - one reflecting the appropriate formatting I have created, and the other a seemingly blank page that carries on both the Header and Footer characteristics of the document.
When this happens, the newly added section appears in the Page Thumbnails bar as a group - that is to say that I am unable to delete the "blank" page by itself, I can only delete both pages.
Does anyone know how to create or get a nice Invoice template for Microsoft Word 08 ?
I have to write many invoices and it would be nice to get a template for this purpose that i could use in WORD 08....
Also, does anyone have a better solution to writing many invoices ?

I have no difficulty in inserting the date( from the date menu), and I saved it as a template. The question is that when I use the template next time, the date is the date that I created the template. While apple's template has no this kind of problem.

What I am looking for is a template style program with a calendar base, that will let me enter fields such as "revenue", "payroll" and "today's issues" on a business level. I don't need a "task" or "to do" list, as this program would hopefully help me present reports to my boss after the fact. Currently, we use an excel spreadsheet to report our financials, which is fine, but I would like the text box "issues" field to basically bitch about what other people aren't doing.

They had assured me of compatibility at purchase citing the new open format. The MAC Excel 08 file won't open on the MAC on which is was created with their Numbers program either.

I wanted to know how I can do this without running into any issues, because I know that most email applications (on both the sending and receiving ends) will not allow you to send and won't accept emails where 150 people are CC'd (protection against spamming).
I know of several bulk email programs (such as the one's that can be found on versiontracker here), but I wasn't sure if I would be able to use the built-in templates provided by Apple Mail??
Anyone have any ideas as to how I can set things up ahead of time so that once our baby is born, sending out the announcement (USING THE APPLE MAIL TEMPLATE) will be a simple matter of clicking a button or two?
One of the template I need to use in Pages 09 has a nice cover page but the background is burgundy. I need to change to something else. I have click everywhere on out side edge but I cannot edit the background. It shows the fill icon with a blue image looking thing but when I click on the fill icon I cannot select a color. The "define as media place holder" is grayed out.

I booted from install disc and recreated my system from Timemachine.. So i chose the latest full backup option, and after 7 hours of recreating, my mac is back.. Thank you TimeMachine.

When I send my .xls files from my Mac (Office 2008) to my boss's Windows machine (Office 2003), he gets an error message when he attempts to open the excel spreadsheet: Excel has encountered an error and must shut down. I've sent files to other computers and not had a problem, and my boss has received other excel files and been able to open them. So it must be something between these two machines/softwares that is affecting it. Any suggestions or ideas? I can add any additional info you need.

There are like a total of 1200 and I really don't need all of them on my new iBook so I've limited it to 200 of close contacts and saved them as vcf. Then I emailed myself the vcf file and try opening it on my new iBook which happily imports them into Address Book instead of Entourage (it also seemed to lose alot of the details, like categories).
I look for option in Entourage to import a VCF and it doesn't seem to have it. How do I import a VCF into Entourage? Or how can I these select contacts onto my laptop installation of Entourage?
problem is that if I stick the HD card into my mac and fire up FCP I can import straight into and editing etc is all fine until I take the HD Card out and then I lose the media connection. I have tried saving the imported clips into various places on my hard drive (by way of "save as in FCP) but when it comes to finding them, whilst the file can be seen in the relevant part of system FCP cannot connect to them. However, ll is fine again when I put the HD card back into my computer.
