I inherited an older G4 powerbook and while it has itunes on it, it lacks iphoto. Is this normal? I have OSX Tiger installed and I always thought that it would include iPhoto. Am I wrong about this?
View 6 RepliesI am transferring info from an iBook G4 running Tiger to a MacBook running Snow Leopard. Everything is going well, except for my ability to transfer the iPhoto library. I have mounted the iBook to the MacBook via Firewire. When I transferred my iPhoto library from my MB to my new MBP, it was easy: all I had to do was drag over "iPhoto Library" from User>Pictures>iPhoto Library But it isn't set up the same way on the iBook: in User>Pictures, "iPhoto Library" is a folder instead of a small iPhoto icon (which you would need to right-click on to see its contents). When I copied the contents of the folder into "iPhoto Library" on the new MacBook, it didn't maintain all of the organization (eg. the albums). Is there any way to do this so that iPhoto will keep the organization of the photo library on the new MacBook, or am I destined to reorganize my thousands of photos into albums again? Please keep in mind that the MacBook is being set up as a new computer, and I am copying over the files/docs/music/photos that she wants to keep from the iBook. I am not using Migration Assistant.

I created a bar chart to show the data, but I need the x-axis to be "to scale", asin, have the correct amount of space between the bars. View 2 Replies View RelatedIve recently had to repair my startup disc volume/reinstall Tiger and now my iPod doesnt store songs after I sync it. All of my music is in iTunes and everything else seems to be working however once I disconnect my iPod NOTHING is there.
Ive been looking through all the previous discussions but cant seem to fix this on my own. And Im not even sure if I should be posting this question on here or in another forum...because Ive also noticed that there are no pictures in iPhoto .when I did the repair...it asked me if I wanted to save a copy of the previous system which I did.

I have about 20 hours of low res digicam videos sitting in iphoto. When I launch Imovie, it loads all 20 hours without asking then proceeds to quit unexpectedly if I try to do anything. Is there a way to prevent iphoto from loading all of them without deleting the videos from my iPhoto library? I have about a 30 minute video I would like to edit I'm frustrated.How about removing all those clips except the ones I care about? Can I do that? (after waiting 20-30 minutes for them to load)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just imported some photos into IPhoto 09 and shortly afterwards my IMac did a hard shut down. Now when I open IPhoto I get the following error:
The Photo Library nees to be upgraded to work with this version of IPhoto.
After that I click on upgrade and get the following msg:
Can't open current photo library using this version of Iphoto.
Thought I'd start this thread for people to discover/add any info they have on what iPhoto Faces is doing behind the scenes to help with troubleshooting, since Apple doesn't have any preferences for Faces in the iPhoto GUI. This is only for people who like to understand what is happening behind the scenes. Please note this is not for everyone and anytime you do anything to your iPhoto library you risk corruption and should have a backup copy. What I've noticed so far:
- iPhoto scans the library the first time it opens, and creates 2 faces .db files with the iPhoto Library:
face_blob.db
face.db
- iPhoto creates Faces thumbnails files and places them in the iPhoto Library/Data folder along with the other thumbnails it creates................
reversing the way Time Machine lets you select the items you wanna back up?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know the prevailing opinion is to move the Users folder (i.e. all home folders) off an SSD boot drive and onto an HDD in order to increase available space and avoid thrashing the SSD. However, it occurs to me that by moving the users folder the Library folder is also moved (~/Library/). Doesn't this compromise the speed increase gained from having an SSD? The application will start quickly but then have to wait for the HDD in order to load preferences.

Besides this I have found the my Dreamweaver is not putting files to sites at all. I have checked this with a few different sites hosted by different companies and get the same 'Server not responding' messages. I am connected to the servers as I have tested this in "manage sites'. I know these are 2 different questions but wondering whether they are both related to the updgrade of my os.

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy brother is a windows user and as a gift i thought I'd get him an update to windows 7. I've bought the 32bit upgrade from software4students and selected digital download. Unfortunately it gives me a .exe download manager so i've downloaded the file on a windows pc and now transfered it back to mac as I'm trying to relearn how to do stuff the mac way (fairly new user ). So i now have the following files on my mac:windows 7 32bit imageas a .img file indows boot image as a .00 file Read me file and i want to make a bootable dvd. Disk Utility will let me make a new image from my usb with the files on, which just seems to be creating a .cdr file of everything on the stick. I was looking at the dvd options and it will let me burn the .img file to a dvd but wont let me include the windows boot image. Currently I'm creating a .cdr file of everything and then i'm going to burn that onto the DVD. This didn't work, it created a 16GB .cdr file as it captured all the empty space on my usb stick... Is this going to work? is there a more efficient way of creating this DVD on mac?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got my Mac Pro today and I installed a 1 TB drive as my main drive, and i've noticed everything I do such as typing this question and moving windows around is extremly laggy.
Do you think it is becauese the install CDs that came with the Mac don't included the 10.5.7 custom driver for the 4870 card? I didn't erase the default 640 HD that came with the MP yet so i'm going to reboot using that drive and see if that changes anything.
I have been using my airdisk as a method to share files. I was sharing them using a sharepoint but it required that I keep that mac on.
All seems to be fine using the airdisk (I share it over the LAN) but today I realized none of those files are getting backed up by time machine. My time machine backup is still hooked up directly to my main mac.

Hi all, here's what I'm trying but failing to achieve in Automator:
1) When files are added to "foldername" or any of its subfolders
2) Copy that file to "newfolder"
What is actually happening with my workflow below is it only takes action if something is added directly into "foldername" and ignores files added to subfolders like "foldername/subfolder".

To burn my music collection onto a DVD I used Select All in the edit menu and dragged everything from the Music Folder into the Burn Folder. When I burned the songs onto a DVD the songs were all there but the artist names were missing.

I've tried installing Final Cut Express 4 on my Macbook. I run Tiger. It can't be done. Just after I choose the hard drive for the installation, it starts installing for a split second and then stops saying that an error occurred and that I have to start all over again. Can anyone help me with this? Maybe the Final Cut Express 4 isn't compatible with Tiger?
