My friend showed me an really awesome program on Windows (sadly I have to work with Windows at work, MotionBuilder is not out for Mac, bloody Autodesk) It's called: Direct Folders [url] It makes you when you for example middle click, it looks similar to then you right click, but there you get shortcuts to folders you added, really neat/ I wounder if it exist something similar for Mac?
View 2 Repliesi am using dreamweaver 8 and am making a website. On the website i have a page where people can view/download pdf directions. I have it set up so you can view the PDF directions in the browser but i want to add another button where they can directly download the PDF straight off of the site without having to right click anything or open anything.. To make it short i want to be able for the user to click text that says "Click Here" and for a PDF to automatically download to their computer.

What happens is that when I'm viewing my Facebook news feed and start scrolling down the page (it then automatically loads new posts) my news feed "jumps". In other words, in doesnt keep in order and it jumbles me up back to stuff I've read.
In other words, somehow, loading the new posts causes my Safari to forget where I am on the page and take me somewhere else. Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm looking for software that can silently sync local folders with remote webdav folders.
It would also be nice if I could just relate to the local folder, and the software would automatically synce new files in both directions.
My Applications and Documents folder on my dock dont seem to have the folders with there symbols on it, they seem to other material. How can I get them to show the folders. Im running on Snow Leopard!

I would like to set this up in such a way that my friend will only be able to access a single directory (the Shared folder, for instance). Essentially, I want her to be able to download a file from my computer without giving her access to anything else, and without having to give out any sensitive information. View 12 Replies View RelatedDirect TV On Demand requires an access point for streaming video. The simplest fix is an ethernet cable between my DSL modem and the DVR. This is not practical, as the DSL modem has only one ethernet port, and it is going into my Airport Express. (and it is several rooms away) Direct TV recommends a Cisco WET610n ethernet bridge. My problem is that the Cisco techs say there appears to be compatibility problems between the two. The Apple tech said flat out that the WET610n cannot connect downstream from the Airport Express. He said he did not know if the WET610n could connect to the Airport Extreme, which does have extra ethernet ports. I can return the WET610n. I MAY be able to return the Airport Express and upgrade to the Airport Extreme. Does any know for sure wether or not the WET610n will operate wirelessly with the Airport Extreme, which boasts true 5 ghz 802.11n capability? Does anyone have a known solution? Direct TV has given me some Geek telephone numbers, but I haven't contacted them yet.

I bought a Seagate Free Agent Go Flex External drive. I transferred all my files from my previous external HD. When I went to access my folders on my external HD, the folders are all locked, with Sharing and Permission section in the Information "Everyone: Read" only! I can't change any of the information or move things! All of them are locked and "read only." I know how to change it, but only manually, individually. I have several hundreds of folders and I don't want to manually change all of them to "Read & Write." Is their a way to let me re-set the folders to "Read & Write" easily??

I have a question for the the Safari geeks out here (1.1.1 version 100.1, running on MacOSX 10.3.2): I have imported my bookmarks from a Mozilla install on a Linux box, based on a hint I found here with the debug options (worked great!!!), and I have the following questions related to adding a new bookmark (based on the fact that my bookmarks are organized in multi-level folders, e.g. OperatingSystems->Linux->Security->Firewall, etc.):
- when opening Bookmarks->Add bookmark ..., how could I possibly collapse all the levels, so that I can easily scroll, and open/drill down into the appropriate level of bookmarks, without having to scroll thrrough all (by default) expanded levels? ... especially critical as some sub-categories may match names, with different higher level bookmarks, thus having to make sure I am where I want to be (e.g. I have a Security folder under OS->Mac, as I have one under OS->Linux, and I have to remember which one I am under, if the "parent" is out of the scrolling window);
- is there any easy way to add a new "level/folder", through Bookmarks->Add bookmark, at the time of salvaging a new one, vs. having to open the Bookmarks in a new window, adding the folder, then returning to add the new bookmark?

I've seen a lot of the postings on the forum about the speed boost from SSD, but it seems like many posters install the drives after purchase. It also seems that many of the third-party drives are faster.I live overseas and want to get the computer while back in the U.S. for the holidays. I also want AppleCare to cover it should things go wrong. I know it's pricey, am I crazy for getting the drive directly from Apple?

I just picked up a Synology DS211 NAS and have been using my roomates' wireless router to connect to my 15" MBP unibody (OSX 10.6.5) and it's been working just fine but I need a faster connection to the NAS for the work that I do. I succesfully got the NAS to connect directly to the MBP through ethernet but I lost my wireless connection to the router.
