Are there any programs that clear out a mac for what I used to use in windows, like the temp folder, unused programs, caches, cookies, etc. For some reason my mac has been acting a lot slower with the color pinwheel of lag coming in more and more, I only got it in October and i rarely have more than four programs open at a time.
View 1 RepliesAs it's a .exe file, only able to be executed using Windows through BootCamp or Parallels, would you be able to run it and overclock gpu/cpu through profile options and have them take effect in Mac OSX or would they only take effect when running Windows on the mac? Trying to find a way to clock my Mac OSX 10.5 2.2ghz 9400 chipset. Have read about it on forums, though i've not read if it will work when just running OSX as I don't regularly use windows.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIt would appear that the new iPhoto app that is being prepared for cross-platform use is being optimzed for cross-platform as iWork applications have been. The tools for altering photos only has a fraction of the tools currently available in Aperture (and even less than available in platforms like Lightroom. There had been hope that with the new iMac Pro that there was going to be a supercharged version of Aperture...but no mention at that role out, nor in today's WWDC.

I defraged my hard drive with Tech Tool and when doing the reboot, the G5 powers back on, the grey apple shows up then the screen goes to a blue background with just the mouse pointer showing.

I'm aware that with windows computers you need to defragment regularly to keep processes running top notch. However, I read that the macbook runs on fragmentation, thus, defragging is not necessary.
However, I saw in another thread that defragging is also important for a macbook. My question is:
1. Is it necessary to defragment?
2. If so, what is a good program for defragmenting on a macbook?
Noticed with a Win7 bootcamp install the SSD is not detected and scheduled disk defragmentation would best be turned off manually. You may also want to turn off hibernation to save from 2-4GB of disc space. A full install of Win7 takes about 10GB and runs excellent.

I've got 20 MP4 files I'm trying to merge into a single MP4. When I drag any one of the MP4 files into MKV Tools it comes up with an error that says: "The variable theTrackData is not defined. (-2753)". Can someone either help with a solution to the MKV Tools problem or suggest another program to merge MP4 files without losing any video quality.

Microsoft word doesn't help me to do that since I need to something professional that is easy to understand shows all relationships among different components. I'm eagerly waiting for the new MBP updates and when it finally arrives, i will be purchasing it for 2 reasons, school work and recording software. i have done i little bit of research on both Logic and Pro Tools and they equally interest me, but i was wondering which one would be more versatile for my needs: ill be recording guitar, bass, and vocals and mixing them, mostly Death Metal genre, but i dont want to drag my amp to school so i was going to use a USB interface, which program has better/more realistic amp tones?
We all know, spaces are great for organizing. But when I use Adobe apps such as Photoshop CS3 Extended or anything in my CS3 suite, there's some weird glitch. I usually switch back and forth between spaces. And when I go back to the space with my Adobe app open in, on the stage my tools don't work. I select something such as lasso and go onto the stage but then, it twitches, from normal cursor to lasso cursor. This happens on all tools, and only some parts of the stage I can draw/use the tool on. Sometimes I can't even use it at all. I'm forced to quit the app and restart it to keep on working.

I am using Comcast as the internet provider for my computer.They recently sent an email saying they highly recommended downloading Norton Internet Security for Mac [Norton 360 Technology].They are offering this Security package at no charge.The reason they say they are offering this is because their "Constant Guard" has identified my computer as possibly being infected with a bot.I am fearful of installling this if it will "mess up" anything already on my iMac.

When I was downloading the norton security suite, there was some problems with certain files not being "properly downloaded". Now I can't access any app or program that uses internet access. I've tried deleting and wiping the Notron program using the systemac uninstall.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Quicken software suddenly stopped being able to connect to my bank via the Internet yesterday, giving the error message "Could not establish Internet connection with . . . check your Internet connection" Quicken support said others had been reporting the same problem recently, and it seemed to have something to do with Norton Antivirus. I uninstalled my "Symantec Solutions"/ "Norton Internet Security for Mac" applications (Norton Antivirus, Norton Firewall, Norton Confidential, LiveUpdate, and Symantec Scheduler) and the problem disappeared. I then contacted Symantec/Norton support and learned that they sent out an automatic "LiveUpdate" to their software this week that replaced everyone's working copy of "Norton Firewall" with a defective Version 4.1.0 that blocks connection to the Quicken server (and perhaps other programs?) unless the "Application Blocking" setting is manually turned off. Symantec says a patch to correct the problem will be released through "LiveUpdate" soon.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running a virus/addware/etc. Scan on my Macbook, with Norton (yes I know some of you hate Norton but thats what I got back in the day so its what I'm using) and the scan keeps stopping about half an inch from completion and just sitting there. The computers fans start to run like its working too hard or something and it will not go any further. It has stopped with around 49946 files left three times in a row now. What's going on? I have tried to delete the file it keeps stopping on then it just stops in the next in line. I just got Leopard and don't want to install until I know my system is ok. I received my copy of Snow Leopard and I would like to do a fresh install. However, in doing this, I will lose my copy of Norton Antivirus that I downloaded from my college. I cannot get another copy of this until January as I am not currently a student. Is there a way I can save this program so that I can do a fresh install versus simply upgrading?
