Intel Mac :: Uninstall Norton When Can't Find It
Apr 5, 2012I am trying to use ESET Cyber Security and can't down load it until Norton is gone. I have taken all of Norton off the computer I can and it still says I need to remove it before I can use ESET. I search and can not find any Norton on my Mac 3.06 6Hz inter core e Duo, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3, Version 10.6.8 How do I find and remove Norton?

Jun 19, 2014When I was downloading the norton security suite, there was some problems with certain files not being "properly downloaded". Now I can't access any app or program that uses internet access. I've tried deleting and wiping the Notron program using the systemac uninstall.

Jan 15, 2009I'm running a virus/addware/etc. Scan on my Macbook, with Norton (yes I know some of you hate Norton but thats what I got back in the day so its what I'm using) and the scan keeps stopping about half an inch from completion and just sitting there. The computers fans start to run like its working too hard or something and it will not go any further. It has stopped with around 49946 files left three times in a row now. What's going on? I have tried to delete the file it keeps stopping on then it just stops in the next in line. I just got Leopard and don't want to install until I know my system is ok. On a side note what Anti-Virus is best for Macs?

Risk To Imac For Downloading Norton?
May 4, 2012I am using Comcast as the internet provider for my computer.They recently sent an email saying they highly recommended downloading Norton Internet Security for Mac [Norton 360 Technology].They are offering this Security package at no charge.The reason they say they are offering this is because their "Constant Guard" has identified my computer as possibly being infected with a bot.I am fearful of installling this if it will "mess up" anything already on my iMac.

Jan 13, 2010My Quicken software suddenly stopped being able to connect to my bank via the Internet yesterday, giving the error message "Could not establish Internet connection with . . . check your Internet connection" Quicken support said others had been reporting the same problem recently, and it seemed to have something to do with Norton Antivirus. I uninstalled my "Symantec Solutions"/ "Norton Internet Security for Mac" applications (Norton Antivirus, Norton Firewall, Norton Confidential, LiveUpdate, and Symantec Scheduler) and the problem disappeared. I then contacted Symantec/Norton support and learned that they sent out an automatic "LiveUpdate" to their software this week that replaced everyone's working copy of "Norton Firewall" with a defective Version 4.1.0 that blocks connection to the Quicken server (and perhaps other programs?) unless the "Application Blocking" setting is manually turned off. Symantec says a patch to correct the problem will be released through "LiveUpdate" soon.

What I'd like to do is apply a full-body InvisibleShield to the MacBook, and then put it in a Speck or Incase hard case. After those, I'd want to store it in a Neoprene sleeve for when I travel across campus with it in my backpack.
My question is, can I do all of this? I want the hands down, absolute best protection for my huge investment while still maintaining the amazing aesthetics of the notebook itself.
However, I don't know if the MacBook would still fit in any of the hard cases once I've applied the InvisibleShield. Does anyone have this particular or a similar configuration?

I want to make sure i never get viruses or anything like that so do i need some kind of virus protection? I have a pc and it keeps getting viruses and getting fixed and getting viruses again all cuz im a comp noob lol . This is gona be my first mac..i just bought it on apple online store... And i wana do stuff like stream anime from random sites and my pc got spyware and totally messed up when i streamed anime and accidentally got tricked into clicking an ad..and i also wana download stuff from limewire and stufff like that..would it be safe to do that kind of stuff without protection on a mbp?? Apr 26, 2010Can anyone tell me the best way to protect my Mac in a storm? The other night there was really loud thunder but I didn't see any lightning. I unplugged my charger from the wall after I heard one clash of thunder (really loud, but didn't see lightning, weird). I believe my modem got hit because it no longer works. I tried a different modem and it works fine. Anyway, what is the best option... UPS or surge protector? Or neither? And can anyone directly recommend me a good product to buy, or what to look for when buying one of these?
