a program that allows you to check a disk against a image after you initially burned it? I have a disc that has gotten a few scratches on it, and I want to verify its all ok.
View 1 RepliesI've tried installing XP on my MBP using Bootcamp, but I guess the XP CD that I have is actually an upgrade CD and not the full system CD that I need for Bootcamp.
Now, I am definitely going to ask around to see if anyone I know has a XP CD, which shouldn't be a problem, but just on the off chance I can't find one(will ebay have em?) could I torrent XP and just burn it to a disc and then insert that when Bootcamp tells me to?
I was able to make a 4-minute movie on iMovie ('06) and burned it to a disc, but the following error message appears (the file is not too large for the disc, which is a DVD+R, 4.7GB).
"The project could not be opened, because the disk is full, the folder is locked, or the folder permission are incorrect.

I was playing around trying to get a Disc burned and now it won't eject. I tried using the button, and restarting the computer.

I have windows XP burned onto a disc with a few other programs so when I have to insert the windows disc will that work? Or would I have to burn it to a dvd by itself? Will windows install off a flash drive maybe? Also, When it asks for the MAC osx disc, can I just use the install discs that came with my new MBP?

Every time I bring my computer out of sleep, it makes this annoying noise checking for discs inside the optical drive. Is there a way to disable it?

Is anyone else annoyed that the billing for iTunes 8.1 implies that before 8.1 you couldn't rip CD's at the 256kbps iTunes Plus AAC? Why did they say this? Is it just for those people who are clueless about this stuff, since if 8.1 is your first install the default will be 256kbps?I ripped my entire library at 256kbps AAC (cbr). I have an Apogee Duet and Grado SR225 headphones and I can only just barely tell the difference between Apple Lossless or linear, and 256 AAC. Same goes for my home stereo system with Energy Pro 22 speakers and NAD 2200 amp and 1240 preamp and Rotel CD player. I don't have the best equipment in the world, but it certainly is good enough for these listening tests.Now, 128kbps is another story. I can definitely hear a difference between that and 256 or ALAC or linear.

My problem is I would like to do a clean install but before I erase my hard drive I would like to make sure it in good shape. I found my AHT disc and found that the version number is 3A127 is for a 24" iMac. I don't know why I have the wrong disc. Is it usuable in the 20" iMac?

Tried but couldn't find an answer to this exact question. Here's the situation: I created a movie project in iMovie, then burned it to a DVD using iDVD. The burned DVD plays in my iMac but will not play in a DVD player. I get a Cannot play this type of disk error message. I used a DVD-R disk (Memorex). I can provide more information if needed to figure this out, but is there a simple answer as to why this would happen? The DVD player says it plays DVD-R disks. The disk works in my computer. Any ideas from the experts?

View 8 Replies View RelatedEarly on after I got this G4, I messed with the settings in iTunes some and the first time I burned a disk and tried to play it in my car, it would not play. I burned about 10 different disks using 10 different settings (although I don't remember the particulars now). Never could get any of them to play. I have iTunes 9 and I wonder if anyone can tell me if it's possible to go back to default settings, or change the settings so disks will play on any standard car CD player? I just don't have the knowledge to do.

View 21 Replies View RelatedJust doing some pre-SL install research. I'm curious about running the kernel in 64-bit mode. I have a mid 2009 13" MBP so the hardware should be able to boot into the 64-bit kernel. I don't use a whole ton of 3rd party applications and not many external peripherals so I think I might be able to get away with k64.
But, is there a way for me to check for sure? How do I know if certain apps or peripherals/extensions are not 64-bit? If I click on the apps and use "Get Info" will that tell me? Perhaps there is a list somewhere similar to the SL compatibility wiki that tells people's experiences with 64-bit compatibility. What if I boot into k64 and try to run an incompatible item, will the OS tell me so, or just crash, or just not work, or what?

I get this error message when I try to check for purchases: "Unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. please try again later." This has been going on for months. Upgrading to snow leopard didnt change it. Various iTunes upgrades haven't changed it. What can I do? I'm running iTunes 9.0.2, OS X 10.6.2 on a Unibody Macbook.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have the latest unofficial MS Office 2011 and all the words in my documents that are in English are underlined with a red color telling me to spell check. When I right click on the word, it gives me the suggested words in Turkish. I went under tools/language and change it back to English but it automatically changes back to Turkish or sometimes to Portuguese. I had this issue on the MS Office 2008 as well and I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to fix this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBasically i've had a HD which refused to read some data off it (only about 5 files out of 1Tb files) and I suspect it was only a sector or two that wasn't able to be read. Now is there an app or something that would read the entire disk to make sure it can be read properly? These files arn't backed up as they in relative terms are not important, however if more and more files become unreadable then clearly it's on it's way out.
