ITunes :: Can't Drag Music/books Onto Iphone 4S
Mar 19, 2012
just purchased an iphone 4S for my wife and trying to sync music and a couple of ebooks. I am not able to sync individual songs as gives the no entry symbol when trying to drag over iphone and music. If I press autofill on the bottom it transfers the entire music library just can't do individual songs. Also can't sync any books. I am running itunes 10.6. Can do any of this on my iphone 4 on my own itunes account but not on wife's new account.

I don't know when this started, but it's been the case for months: let's say I drag 10 albums' worth of files to copy to my iPhone (under manually manage music)--that will take a minute or so to copy via wi-fi. But, now, if I drag another album over to copy before the previous batch of 10 has finished transferring, the 10-album transfer is canceled, and the new album starts copying in its place. Before, dragging new files over to the phone during a copy would add to a "queue" such that your current copy job was not canceled.

Prior to this update I could drag an album into my iPhone then drag another and it woud simply add those songs to the list being loaded. Not anymore! Now iTunes stops loading the first album, thiknks for a bit and loads the second drag. Utterly useless! I usually drag a selection of purchased and other songs in every couple of weeks for my daily commutes with this 'new' setup it would take a week to drag in a playlist coz I have to wait for every album!Â

For some reason when I go to drag music to a playlist in iTunes, it will not move. Then I restart the program and it will work, but only for a little while and then it is back to not being able to move again. I tried clearing the preference files and no luck.

Just like the title says Throughout the life of iTunes, I have been able to do this. Now, I cannot. It's super annoying, as I now have to go and sync each individual file. I've got thousands of files. It would drive me crazy to individually check each one to sync. Drag 'n' drop is much easier.Â
The only difference has been that I stopped using a mouse and began to use the Apple Magic Trackpad. I'm not sure if this has had any deleterious effect.Â

I freaking hate iTunes. Programs for simple tasks like uploading music onto devices should be efficently coded, not resource hogs that are incredibly unintuitive and needlessly complicated. Why can't we just drag and drop music and videos directly onto our phone like we can with just about every other media player? I already have all of my music organized just as I want it on my computer. Just let me drag the folders I want directly into the iPhone without having to bother with a 100mb download that runs like crap.
There's absolutely no excuse why such a simple function needs such a complicated program. Quote:..................

I have some audio books that i have on CD which I ripped and they show up under the "music" section on the sidebar in iTunes 10.5.3 (3) even though I set the genre to "Audio book" (in "get info") How can I get it to appear under the "books" section like audio books purchased on the iTunes store? It's really annoying to be playing my music library shuffled and then have to skip through audio book chapters. I realize that I could make a playlist with only music, but this seems pretty counterintuitive as I'd have to update it every time I added a new song.

I have a new-to-me MacBook (running Lion) and I just downloaded all my music into iTunes. I had been sync'd with an old PC laptop previously. If I choose to sync my iPhone (4S) with iTunes on the MacBook, will it delete my apps and data (as the warning in iTunes leads me to believe)? I do use iCloud backup on the iPhone, and I've got all kinds of apps installed (and arranged to my liking). What's the best way to have my music sync with the MacBook without having to reinstall my apps?Â

I have an older Power PC eMac that is running iTunes 9.2. I want to load up my new iPhone 4S with music and iTunes won't recognize it in devices. How can I do this? It is ridiculous to think that I would have to upgrade my mac in order to put music on my iPhone.

I currently had another mac with my itunes on it and since I got a new mac, I decided to download all my songs in it. I did it through icloud as it is the easiest way to download songs from my old library to the new one. I have songs from cd's that I burned to my iphone and itunes won't let me add those songs! why icloud did not download those songs, but now i'm trying to download the existing songs from my iphone to my itunes library and it won't let me! I also try to "manually sync music" but it tells me that it's going to delete all my music from my iphone and replace the music with the library in the new mac. If I do that, then I won't have the music from the cd's anymore!

I bought an iPhone 4S about a month ago and used iTunes from my old pc to sync songs. More recently, I bought a Macbook Pro. When I try to sync songs into the iPhone through the Mac iTunes, nothing is transferred. The pictures are syncing correctly through iTunes, but songs on the iTunes library are not. What should I do to transfer songs?

For some reason some of my iTunes music won't sync to my iPhone 4. All my software is up to date and I have the playlists I want copied over as you would if you wanted to add them to the phone's library. Maybe my settings are wrong or something. A few screenshots are attached for your convenience.

I recently bought an album via iTunes Music Store on my iPhone 4S, but I can't seem to figure out why it isn't syncing to my iTunes account on my computer. I am not using iTunes Match cloud or anything. This was happening even with automatic downloads set on iTunes, but I have since turned it off because I have bandwidth limits for my satellite Internet. One of the reasons I bought the album on my iPhone was so I could download it at a public WiFi.

My iPhone has finally hit capacity, mostly with music.I don't want to delete things from my library, because my comptuer has plenty of space, but I want to limit what gets sync'd to my iphone. I.E. There is old music that I don't listen to regularly anymore that I don't want on my iPhone, but I would still like to keep.I know one option would be to create a playlist and just sync that playlist, but I don't want to have to drag new stuff into a playlist every time (Because I know I will forget.)

I can't add music to my iPhone 4s using iTunes on Macbook Pro. I can add the music to my iTunes library though. When I drag the music to the iPhone, it just kicks it back out. I can add music to my iPhone using iTunes on a PC, so I don't understand what the problem is. I am using the latest version on Lion and the latest version of iTunes.

I am syncing all of my music library to my iPhone via iTunes on a MacBook Pro. There are only a very few albums not showing up. These have NOT been bought off iTunes - they are older than iTunes I put them on the computer from CDs.But for the same artist - about half of the music shows up - it seems to be whole CDs that don't. I tried highlighting the songs and making sure they actually had an artist - they do. They have albums listed, too. I have no idea what is going on. This is also on my husbands phone - but for a different artist (different computer, too and he has an iPhone 4s, I have an i4)Â

I can't seem to sync music to my iphone. I have done this previously without issue.Â
I click on sync but then it reverts back to the previous status, and syncs only photos and apps.Â
