I'm looking for an Mac app that can be used to store and index/tag small electronic documents (like invoices,...), hyperlinks, text,....Basically it should be able to store non-relational information that can than be tagged and searched for easy retrieval later.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI believe the mouse pad is hypersensitive, but it also will click on items when nothing is near the laptop. Eg. I'm no where near it and it will play/pause/change the song in itunes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mac took a crap and had to rebuild the os. I have all my itunes music tagged properly with embedded album covers in the mp3 files and everything.
I want to have my music in this order: artist (alphabetically) ,year (ascending 2001 to 2008 for example for each artist) and albums that have various artist with them with to stay grouped together in itunes. Even though I click make a compilation. It wont order that way. I had it last time.
For example UNKLE's war stories has various artists collaborating on the album, it stays spread apart...I want it to be listed together as one album and not spread apart. But, i want to keep the artist names.
Looking for an app that will organize my e-books and .pdf files.

Why won't iTunes organise movies like it does music by grouping the files in the artist folder?
I've Handbraked a few DVD movies and extras.
They are scattered in the Movie folder by the name of each video, not by movie (album) title.
How do I organise them into Album folders like Music and TV Shows are
I recently imported 10,000 photos to iphoto covering the last 12 years of my life. The only problem is that the events are not in the correct order by date. It take me hours to reorganize by date manually. Is there an option in iPhoto or a workflow that will do this automatically? (the photos are all dated, just in the wrong order)
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I've been tinkering around with Automator lately and have been having some moderate success and fun coming up with different little workflows. I have now completely stumped myself on this one. I feel like it should be relatively simple but I just can't get it to work. Here's what I am looking to do. Within the iTunes Music folder I have all my artists listed alphabetically (I have iTunes set to keep my music organized). As part of my new backup plan I would like Automator create new folders based on the letters of the alphabet and then copy the artists over that belong to each letter so that the end result on my external drive looks like this
A
-Alexisonfire
-Audioslave
B
-Band of Horses
-Beastie Boys
and so on.
I've been able to do certain things in little pieces but they have all require manual intervention, i.e. filter finder items to items that start with "a" and copy to folder "a" but I have to manually enter the filter criteria and destination criteria. Is there anyway to do this without manually creating the folders and manually selecting the filter criteria and destination folder? I did find an applescript that will create the folders for me, can I add this to the workflow?
I've a collection of various movies and tv series in DivX/XviD/H264 format. They are stored on my file-server, which runs Rivet for streaming to my Xbox 360.
So my basic setup is as follows:
[macbook] <--> [file server with rivet] <--> [xbox 360/tv]
The files on the server are all in one directory..and with a growing list, it's getting confusing/messy. Does anyone know a tool to manage (Covers, Tagging etc.) all the files with my Macbook? If not, would there be a need for something like that? My exams finish on tuesday (8.6.2010), which means I'd have some time to code on a new project.
Alright, so I have two songs by The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and With a Little Help from My Friends. If you don't already know, these songs cut into each other, so if you play With a Little Help right after Sgt. Pepper, it will sound like one song (this was intended). What my problem is is that the way that the songs are sorted (by Artist), With a Little Help from My Friends is before Sgt. Pepper, where it should be vice-versa. Is there any way I can fix this problem, without having to change the way the songs are sorted (I like them organized that way) or creating a playlist? Maybe an Applescript or application?

Currently I am using Google notebook to do this It allows me to create a header for each section such as, "Pleasantries" and "Generic Phrases and I can tag each individual entry as I like. However, my list seems to have gotten too long for Google notebooks to accommodate it.

View 3 Replies View Related my problem i that when I import CDs such as the main artist but featuring someone else, the album flow wil not be sequential, instead when i sync my iphone/ipod i end up getting artists <blank> featuring <blank>. Same goes for front row.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome download links on the internet are re-direct links ie you can't right click to save link as (such as on the apple site for itunes 10.1) for some reason on both safari and firefox with these links it just loads the page and no download dialog box opens, i've disabled pop up blockers on both but it still seems not to work, what am i doing wrong? I know i could use software updates but i want to re-install the programs so that won't work

I have the first and third option checked in the tabs preference but it doesn't seem to matter. I might be delirious from playing with leopard all day/night, but I just want to figure this one last option out before bed. I Would like to open links in new tab WITHOUT having to hold down the command key.

-links from Mail app open in Safari(default browser)
-links from Entourage app open in firefox
Some semi-Flash-based links do not work in Safari(I'm using 5.0.3) causing me to switch to...pretty much any other browser like Chrome when needed. For example, when playing Whirled by Three Rings, when trying to navigate the non-Flash menus, equipping/"Wearing" avatars or pets and furniture and stuff do not work.

I'm using the Safari Beta but cannot locate a way to make links appear in a new tab rather than a new window. In the prefs it has the ability to place links from other Apps into a new tab, but it appears the only way to do that within Safari is by CMD + click. Is there anyway to make anything clicked open in a new tab instead?

When I click on a link, it takes a long time to load and sometimes doesn't load at all. If I click on the "stop" button and then "reload", it loads very quickly. This doesn't happen every time I click a link, or with every link I click, but it's happening often enough that it's seriously slowing down my browsing. I'm on a Mac Pro connected via ethernet to a Comcast high speed cable connection. The cable modem is also connected to a D-Link router with a wireless network, which we use for the three other computers in the house. Here's the strange thing: the other three computers aren't having the same latency problem. It's just my Mac Pro connected directly to the network that's having the problem.
