Sep 7, 2010I've been looking around the internet for a solution to this problem. I'm currently in an apartment with a single wired connection running to my Macbook Pro, i haven't got time to buy a switch or router right now and i've been trying to connect my 360 to the internet using Airport. All of the how-to's i've found so far concern connecting the 360 and Macbook via Ethernet rather than Airport, and while i've tried to follow the steps as best as i can i haven't been able to connect to xbox live.

Nov 6, 2009I haven't been able to connect to my school's internet and every so often when I am at home I will have to turn my Airport on and off to get it to connect to the internet(sometimes it's rare and sometimes it can happen up to 3 times a day). Is there a way to troubleshoot this to see if there is anything wrong with my Airport or if it is just a problem with my connection at home and at school?

I can connect wirelessly to the Airport Extreme using my iMac (27", mid-2011), but cannot connect using my 11" MBA ( late 2010). When I use the adapter and connect the MBA with an ethernet cable, I can get online briefly with a restart, however the connection is lost within two or three minutes.

1 week ago my computer as stopped to connect to internet.
I was used connecting with my airport express, but at one point my macbook pro stopped receiving ip adress from interenet.

I have try everything...:
the Airport is working becouse all the others computers inside on my office are working well with airport.
If I connect my computer with a cable I have the same problem.
I have reset and restart Airport and computer.
I have let my connection and computer disconnected and switched off for 24 our.
I have verifyining that is not an hardware problem because I have installed a fresh OS on an external drive and when I boot from the external drive everything working well.
The OS is on boot installation 10.4.9
the machine is a Mac book pro 17 2.16 GHZ intel core duo with 2gb 667 Mhz.
My problem is that on the old installation I have a lot of software installed and will be take a lot of time doing all the new installation. I wondering if there is a way to recover the situation.

Basically it will not connect to the internet when plugged directly into our cable modem. In order for it to work, I have to leave our old Belkin wireless router plugged in between the APX and cable modem.

It will connect to the AE fine, but the Airport Utility will show that the AE is not connected to the internet. Which is a lie, because other devices (iOS, Windows) will connect to internet through the same AE. working on the MBP under Bootcamp. So we can also rule out hardware issues with the WiFi chipset. This must be a MacOS (Mavericks) related issue.

May 7, 2008It could be a firewall setting. It could be a software update. Whatever it is, I cannot connect to the internet using Extreme (it does connect to the internet using just plain old wifi). This is a sudden problem--it worked fine last week.

Mar 31, 2012I have an aiport extreme card in my emac. It was installed around a year and a half ago and has workd fine until yesterday. it suddenly says that it is not configured. It also says the antenna cable is unplugged and that it is turned off. I tried to trouble shoot it with internet connection assistant which says cable is unplugged and aiport is off. I have taken the card out and reinstalled it and reattached the cable mutiple times to no avail. And yes, I know how hard it is to push in.

Jan 1, 2010I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro, and today I've been unable to connect to the internet via ethernet or wi-fi, unless I'm in safe mode. Then everything seems to work as it should, which makes me believe that this is a software issue rather than a hardware problem. I've tried making a new account with administrator priveleges, but that doesn't solve my issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can connect to the internet under my normal user account, rather than in safe mode? I should note that I won't be able to get my hands on my repair CD or perform a clean install of OSX because that stuff is at home, and I'm in college. Also, I'm at a university and don't have a router. I just use the campus-wide wi-fi. Finally, my roommate has no problem accessing the internet in our room via ethernet or wi-fi, but I do. May 10, 2009I have a macbook a little over a year old. It's my first mac and I love it. Yesterday though it started acting really weird. I first noticed that it was really, really hot and the fan was running. I turned it off and back on and here's what I found out:
Applications are being deleted from macbook. ITunes, IPhoto, iChat have clear question marks over icon. There are 8-10 blank spaces in the Applications folder where applications have been deleted. However, data is still there (ex. pictures still there, but no iPhoto).
Internet= Says I have internet but wont connect.
Cannot open " System Preferences" or "Internet Preferences".
If connected to home computer will connect to internet and allowed to open internet preferences but still no system preferences.
If shut down....takes a while to come back on and starts up 2-3 times.
Also "Preview" is gone. Now " ColorSync Utility" opens.
Is this my hard drive dying? I'm tech challenged, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.
*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?

Previously, I used a Windows7 laptop and I used to connect my PS3 to internet using an ethernet cable, while my laptop was connected to internet through a 3G USB modem. Mar 5, 2012So i normally just close the lid on my mac and put it to sleep when ever im done with it, and when i open it it reconnects to my wireless internet connection in about 10 seconds and i can surf the web. Well yesterday i opened it and it connected to the network but it wont open the web page. i click the network diagnostics option and it says it detects that nothing is wrong with my connection, but when i try to browse, the same message come up. after about 5 minutes of clicking refresh and quiting safari and opening it again it will randomly start working. i have had this computer for about 7 months and i have never had this problem before. i have also tried disconnecting and then reconnecting to the network but it still wont work.

May 20, 2012The source of the internet hasn't chaged, same provider, nothing new. I could connect yesterday a bit but it was in and out for a while, now today nothing.
Under the "Network Status" my AirPort is green, my AirPort Settings is green, my Network Settings is yellow, my ISP is green and then my Internet and Server are both red.....however I'm currently sitting on my boyfriends Dell, that is fully connected wirelessly to the exact same wireless network. Jun 1, 2012I've been searching the forum for an answer and have found close but not quite. I'm running a Macbook on Snow leopard as is a friend that I am now working with. She (or rather, her husband) also has a NAS connected via a wireless router on a home network. We would like to load the files that we are both working from on the NAS so we are working from one set of master files. We both move around alot (btween Fance & Italy). Now, I can access the NAS easily from her computer on their network - the Mac picked it up automatically but now that I'm home, I can't seem to find it on my computer. I've tried putting the IP address of the NAS into Safari - error message, server not responding. I've also tried to connect to server via afp - same thing
how can we access the NAS via the internet? Does her husband have to specifically creat an account on the thing for me? I'm at a loss here as I have no experience of NAS devices.
