I'm on a new MacBook Pro and when I ask aperture to mirror on the secondary display it just dumps the mirror display over the main screen and the secondary display is untouched. is this a software uninstall/instal.
View 1 Replieswe are trying to hook up our TV as a secondary monitor (for hulu, netflix, etc) but it defaults as the primary monitor. We would like to keep the imac as the primary monitor, and have the TV as a secondary, but cannot figure out how to do it! The only way we can get the imac back to primary status is if we use mirror mode. Once we take it off mirror mode, the TV becomes the primary monitor again, and there appears to be no way of switching it in OSX display preferences.
I've done similar hookups with my laptop, and the TV defaults as the secondary monitor. Why isn't this happening with our iMac? Any ideas?
So for Christmas I received an Apple wireless keyboard to use with my macbook. All the regular keys are working just fine, but there is something wrong with the function keys. For example, the expos� dashboard and brightness keys just dont work, and when I press the key with the fast forward picture on it, it goes into expos� mode. Not even the sound buttons are working they are used as dashboard and clear desktop.

It won't be worthwhile to replace the monitor and it is not fixable without some expensive work being done on it, therefore I would like to use our TV as an external monitor and retire the macbook to being a mediia computer. I have connected it to the TV, and I see an empty desktop, as far as I can determine it looks like it is treating the TV as a secondary display - that the desktop is extended onto - so I cannot actually interact with the normal desktop. When I try to run things using keyboard shortcuts I hear some sounds of things starting, but I don't see anything on the TV. So what I need to do is to have some way to tell it to treat the secondary display as the primary display.

I have an external monitor attached to my MacBook Pro that I use as my only monitor (I leave the MBP closed). I'm also a heavy Spaces user. I want to start using the MBP's display as a secondary display, but I want to have Spaces treat it differently than it currently does. Instead of having Spaces switch both monitors, I want it to only switch my primary monitor, and leave my secondary monitor constant. This way I can have FireFox in Space 1 and iTunes on the second monitor, then switch to Word in Space 2 and still be able to control iTunes without going back to the first space. Is there any way I can do this?

I have played around with the DISPLAY variable with no success. Every time I launch the app, it appears on the primary display.
I use spaces with a projector as my secondary display for meetings at work. Any time I use the birds eye to view all of my spaces, my secondary display disappears, making it obvious that I'm tinkering around in spaces. Is there anyway to keep the secondary display stationary (IE not blacking out when I use the bird's eye view)? My goal is to keep my secondary display's desktop up at all times. I know you can press +tab to switch between apps, but is there anyway to tweak this in spaces so that the secondary display's desktop remains omnipresent? it does the same thing when you use the birds eye view in expose too. it would really help from being distracting when I use this feature for meetings at work. This way my secondary desktop could just serve as a digital banner that's always up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, for some reason when I have a secondary display connected to my Mac Pro, it will sometimes randomly get a yellow tint. Turning it on and off again will fix the problem, but then it'll only be a matter of time until it randomly gets a yellow tint again, usually when the display gets focus.

Now when i open few applications like Adobe Indesign cs3, Illustrator cs3 the application opens in primary display and when i drag the image or picture to the secondary display the menu bars on the top remains in the primary display.
So how can i move/detatch the menu panel? and move it to the secondary display.
I give presentations regularly, and I always lock (with password) my MBP if I need to leave the room for a quick break. However, I often need to leave the secondary display projected on the big screen. Is there a way to keep the secondary display showing even when locking access to the MBP?

For some peculiar reason, my desktop pictures do NOT change / rotate on my secondary display.
I have a MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2007) running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and I have dual displays. My primary display (the MBP screen) DOES change / rotate picture every minute, but I want my secondary display to do the same.
It seems that restarting does fix it, but only temporarily. I think it might have to do with plugging/unplugging the secondary display and sometimes if it's working, I disconnect and reconnect the monitor and then the pictures stop rotating.
All my desktop picture settings are correct in System Preferences. I tried unchecking then rechecking the "Change picture:" checkmark, but that doesn't fix anything.
I also tried clicking on different folders in the left column of the Pref Pane, then clicking back on my chosen desktop pictures folder.
Is there a way to exchanging/switch primary/secondary display in OSX via shortcut instead of manually dragging the menu bar between the "displays layout" in the displays pref under "Arrangement tab" ? I'm very surprised that apple didn't address this simple issue yet.

Just wondering if there is a way to have videos in iTunes play full screen on a secondary display. I know you can do it in Quicktime, VLC and eyeTV with terminal... but all my content is in iTunes..Can anyone help?I take it from this overwhelming responce that it is not possible to do??
View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Kanex iAdapt so I can use my TV as a secondary display. It works but there are a few annoying problems.
1) When I set the display output to any of the available resolutions (480p.720P.1080i) the picture is displayed - however the edges are cut off resulting in about 5 % of the picture being lost. this means that the taskbar on my mac is barely visible.Any ideas on why this is happening and how i can get it fixed?
2)This is more of a general question. A lot of the text that is displayed is blurry around the edges on all settings. Is this always the case for using TV's for secondary monitors?

I have a unibody macbook from summer 2009. My TV is a sony bravia 32" from the KDL range. (KDL 32S3000)
24" iMac running 10.6.3 and having some issues all of the sudden with my secondary monitor. It detects the display and the monitor comes out of standby, but only shows a black screen. Tried it with another monitor to see if that was the issue but it's not. Seems as if the iMac is sending bad video signal out... Couldn't find anything similar on a quick google search so I thought I'd try here to see if anyone had any similar problems.

I can see from these "pictures" only their information, rating, adjustments, but not the photo itself. Their is a message saying that the picture was edited with a previous version of Aperture RAW version. BUT the older photos are okay in my Library.

If I restart the OS (OS X 10.5.5) they work but only for a short time and stop working again. Other accounts on the system work fine and do not have this problem.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo you know how when you use a key command, the menu title under which it resides will flash blue momentarily? (i.e. file, edit, or view). No matter what application I am running, if I use Command + G, the edit menu flashes blue and nothing happens.
In Photoshop I need this command to group layers. In Bridge I need it so I can stack groups. In I-movie I need it to view videos as full screen. Of course I could drag my mouse up to the menu bar everytime instead, but I WANT MY KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS BACK :-(
I have tried using disk utility and doing an archive and install, but the problem isn't fixed. the command works fine if I sign in as another user. Ideas?
Suddenly command-W has stopped working on my system (OS X 10.6.4, iMac 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo). Instead of closing the current window or browser tab, it takes me to the Finder. I have tried rebooting, but it did not fix it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently have been running into problems with my Macbook Pro in that an hour or two after startup, the hot corners no longer work and command tab no longer works. That is when I try to use them nothing happens at all. The keyboard still functions normally other than that. Also, if I then try to shutdown the system appears to begin the shutdown in that my desktop icons disappear, but then the machine just sits there and will never shutdown. I am then forced to hold the power key down to force a hard shutdown. Then once I do a startup, I have my hot corners back and command tab works. Until it sits for a while and then I start the cycle over.

I couldnt write anything and it was like command key is pressed all the time because it worked like a key combination. For example, when I press the "w" letter it closes windows, I cant�t even write a web address neither my pass to fix something in the settings.

I've just bought Aperture 2, and during installation blithely told it to import all my 10,000 or so iphoto images. After several hours I'm just looking at it in browser view with 10,000 grey rectangles, and a little "thumbnails" flash appearing every few seconds on the bottom bar of the browser.
24" IMac 3.06 with 4GB RAM
Apparently Flickr has made another change & Aperture will no longer upload multiple images to an existing Flickr acct. I've tried 3 times & each time the 1st image gets posted but not the rest. Activity monitor shows all the files were uploaded but they don't show in my albums.
Apparently a switch from API to SSL (whatever that is) has also affected Adobe Bridge uploads.
Other than exporting & then using the Flickr uploader? Are the Flickr upload plug-ins still working?
I have an old version of Aperture (3.1.2) that no longer works on my mac following my update to OSX (10.9.4). I would like to update my Aperture version so that its compatible with OSX but am unable to do so. All the aperture downloads tell me I have to update through the App Store but the App Store does not recognize that I have a valid, if outdated, version of Aperture on my computer and wants me to buy the software again. Is there a way to update Aperture (for free) and keep my library of photos?

I can't find anything else on here about this, but I've tried several external keyboards with my new MacBook Pro (including the latest Apple) and Command+Delete doesn't work with any of them. It works fine using the notebook keyboard. I've reset the key combos to default several times. Nothing. Other key combinations that I use all work. And the command key and delete key each work for other things.

Not reboot nor Repair Disk Permissions helps. Did I accidentally trigger something with a typo?
