I have a VGA monitor plugged in to my imac using the VGA adapter to the mini-DVI. All was working well. Since I updated over the weekend, the computer will not detect the monitor.Â

This is my first Mac. I cannot get it to detect my external display:Â It is an ASUS PA248Q, manufactured Aug 2012.
The HDMI cable according to my Amazon history is at least 1.3c from 2010, "Fanatic Digital Imperial Series Gold-Plated HDMI Cable (6 feet)". It works with perfectly connecting an AmazonTV box to an old Samsung TV, with vivid clarity, unlike our cableTV signal.
Just in case, I have a new HDMI cable on order, which claims to be of newest standards. The Macbook Pro Retina (late 2013) has the standard Intel Iris from the Haswell chips, as well as Nvidia GT 750M, the latter which I don't think has been used yet.
The ASUS display says:Â HDMI NO SIGNAL.Â
I have tried shutting them down and replugging the cable. I don't know what the ideal order is. The Macbook Pro is plugged into AC power, as suggested.
In System Preferences>Display, I press the Option key to select "Detect Displays" option (seriously unintuitive).Â
I have also tried resetting the NVRAM:
I shut the machine down. Pressed the power button, then quickly held the quadruplet: Option-Command-P-R (a double handful) and waited for the machine to chime a 2nd time. Tried to detect external display no luck.Â
Next, I reset the SMC:
I shut the machine down. Then I pressed Shift-Control-Option-Power  for about 5 to 10s. Then I turned on the machine normally. NVRAM & SMC steps were from an old youtube video, as the instructions I had did not explain how to do so clearly.
I own a MBP 13 that I wish to connect with my Acer external mobitor. I bought a miniDisplayport to HDMI [male] cable for this purpose. Now the problem I am facing is that even though my 40" Samsung TV detects the MBP and works as an extended monitor, the MBP fails to detect the Acer monitor. However, I currently use the Acer monitor with my Mac Mini, Tata Sky+ set top box and also my Playstation 3

Formatted my MacBook Pro and clean installed Snow Leopard after I lost connectivity to any external monitor I plug in to my MBP. I noticed that as soon as I restarted with the Snow Leopard DVD, I regained the connection with my external monitor.
After format all was well until I updated all to the way it was. No problems showed until I loaded the recent update of Snow Leopard.Does anyone suffer from this? Does anyone know a solution?
I bought a MBA 13" last month and now I'm trying to connect an external monitor through a Mini Display Port-to-HDMI adapter and most of the times the display shows a message "No signal detected"...

My mac just told me to install a security update and restart and I did it because its a security update, but when I logged back in and checked the official list for updates [URL], there are no official security updates for around the 10th of February. I have a MAC OSX 10.5.8, after the recent software update my flash player no longer works.I have read that there is a problem with security for the version of flash that I was using and this is the reason it was disabled. However, I have tried to download the most recent version from the Adobe website, but nothing happens and a message says I already have flash installed on my computer.Â
I have a version of flash in my HD>>Library>>Internet plug-ins, and there is also one in HD>>Library>>Internet plug-ins (Disabled) which I have tried to move but it only lets you copy it and it seems unable to be moved back to HD>>Library>>Plug-ins I have also tried to download the "No Script" addon for Firefox so that I can at least have flash working in Firefox, but that doesn't seem to be downloading either. I cannot now watch videos, listen to my favourite radio stations or even upload pics to ebay to create ebay listings. This problem ruining my internet enjoyment and I just hope that it can be fixed again. How dare Apple just do this without any warning or giving any info on how to easily fix this problem once flash has been disabled.

I just did and automatic update that consisted of about 6 items, now my external hard drive is not even recognized! Long story short, Time Machine can not find my external to do a backup. I have already done all the unplugging and restarting and searching for the disk... Nothing! my external is Lit and seemingly functioning.Â

Since I updated Snow Leopard to Version 10.6.8 on my MBP15, I can't use my SyncMaster P2770 HD (Samsung) in its highest 1920x1080 resolution anymore. I can choose 1920x1080 in the monitor-preferences, but having done that the resolution remains at 1680x1050 @60Hz (I can see it and even the monitor's info-menu says, that i still use 1680x1050 @60Hz). I use a Mini DisplayPort to VGA-Adapter and a VGA-cable.

My external monitor stopped working after performing tonight's software updates. 2011 MBA 13inch running 10.7.4. Computer takes 2 minutes to boot to a grey pattern on the MBA and an all blue desktop on my external. Boots fine when I unplug the monitor and reboot.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 13" MBP and it won't detect my external display. It works fine on my sister's whitebook using, but won't detect at all on the MBP. I've went to "detect displays" under system preferences, played around with the cable, and made sure the monitor is on. It work's flawlessly on my sisters. What's wrong? Any suggestion on what I should do? I'm losing my mind right now. The screen on the MBP goes blue for a sec when the external display is connected, but then just goes back to it's original desktop.

View 2 Replies View Relateda mini display port. I purchased the mini display port to DVI adapter to hook my computer up to a Viewsonic vx2235wm 22" screen. I plug it in and get nothing. I've read on the apple support site that some people with older mac mini's and MacBook Pro's can hook it up no problem. But for me, my monitor is getting no signal and my MacBook Pro doesn't detect the monitor in the Display Preferences.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter updating earlier this week with the EFL Processor update and the Superdrive update, each time I bring my MBP out of hibernate or log on the CD drive starts to run like it trying to load a disc.
But there is no disc inside to cause the drive to think its loaded. It will do this 3 or 4 times before giving up. The noise is annoying especially when at the library studying for finals.
I assume this must have to do with my recent software update (installed today)
Now, when I open my email and many web pages - notably google, it seems as if the default viewing font has changed.. even the text on the "submit" buttons and things like that has changed...
and whats worse is the new font is barely legible. I don't have any idea what has happened or how to fix it... can someone please help, this is really annoying!
I remember reading somewhere that a new updated was released a few days after the MBP's that everybody should download if you bought one.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed iTunes 10.6 a few days ago. Ever since then, iTunes will run until I try to sync any of my devices. I have tried sync'ing iPad, different generations/typs of iPod and iPhone. They all cause the app to quit "unexpectedly". I can play music from iTunes on my computer - it just fails when connecting to a device via the USB port or wi-fi. I reinstalled iTunes today.

Ran Software Update on mother's iMac (20"/2.0GHZ/1GB/250GB - at least 200GB free, running 10.4). Many updates (Safari, Flash, Security Update, whose number I did not get...). Message that one update could not be installed, did not say which one. Computer will no start up (grey screen).
Started up from Disk 1, repaired Permissions, ran Disk Repair, which indicated no repairs needed. Removed only peripheral (ADSL modem) & ran Safe Boot; it stalls. Last four lines are.
I did the latest firmware update few days ago and went through that series of boots. It's a shame on me that I didn't jog down the ROM revision info before the update. According to the this link:

My MBA 13 is still read MBA31.0061.B00 after I thought I did the update. Does that mean the update didn't go through?
I have a MacBook Pro running Tiger. After installing the most recent update, I find that Safari keeps crashing every time I open a new tab. I've tried cleaning out my plug ins and history.plist, but it hasn't helped.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIm having my first ever problem with a Mac, bummer! I have tried Googling an answer, but didn't find anything specific enough for my situation.Last night I installed the SL Graphics Update, hoping to be able to run Starcraft 2 on a higher setting.
Anyways, I installed it, and now the computer wont boot. It is stuck on the gray screen with the spinning symbol. It appears to be installing the software update, since it shows a gray progress bar, but then once that finishes, it just stays on the gray screen with the spinning symbol and goes nowhere after that.
I have a Macbook Pro available to use, if I need to target the disk. Not sure how to do that though, just found that idea in my google search.
I have no problem just being able to grab my important data off of it, and starting on a fresh install. I just dont want to lose my huge library of pictures and music.
Since I did a recent upgrade of iTunes I cannot get videos to play. The videos I downloaded with an album only play the audio and not the video.

Recent update was midweek of June 17-23. Have been having constant issue with connecting to the Internet. I have to stop the airport then restart airport and wait a minute then it's working fine for like 5 minutes. It is unbearable! I get an exclamation on the airport icon in the menu bar. I have to repeat steps again, over and over and over.
