I had been sync'd with an old PC laptop previously. If I choose to sync my iPhone (4S) with iTunes on the MacBook, will it delete my apps and data (as the warning in iTunes leads me to believe)? I do use iCloud backup on the iPhone, and I've got all kinds of apps installed (and arranged to my liking). What's the best way to have my music sync with the MacBook without having to reinstall my apps?Â

Dec 7, 2014I moved my iTunes library to an external HD in order to free up space in my computer. Unfortunately, that HD is unreliable, so I'm moving things to a new HD. The catch is that I discovered that iTunes has been syncing music to the unreliable external HD but syncing iPhone apps to a separate iTunes library on my computer that I didn't know about until today. How do I get the apps into the external HD's library (so that I can then move it all to the new HD)?Â
I tried consolidation - apparently that only works in regard to music, movies, books and other media, because it didn't move a single app.

What I am thinking of doing is having a external running logic pro on it with all the vsts's instead of having it on my internal memory. Also want to have just one external with my iTunes library on? if i did that will the shortcuts still show up in iTunes?

Apr 4, 2012Two songs purchased from iTunes store today. Download looked OK, new purchases do show in Store>Purchased list. I added ratings, and songs went to smart playlist for top rated songs. BUT songs do not appear in Library>Music where all songs are. Search indicates they do not exist. It is from this library I drag to other lists. But without them there I am stumped. Never seen this before.

Jun 22, 2012I moved my iTunes library to an external drive, but now my apps are gone? I do have iTunes match and iCloud, so my songs are all on the cloud, but none of my apps are showing... I copied everything over, consolidated, but I must have messed something up as I think I have too many library files on the external drive now. I can see all my files on the external drive, but they are not showing up when I open itunes. It looks like it linked to a new copy of a library as only my most recent apps are showing, nad none of my existing ones are on itunes. What should I do to fix this? How do I know which files to delete?Â

But it would be very dodgy as nobody's first or last name is 'Mum', 'Uncle Bob' or 'Shaggy'. Is there a way to show nicknames instead of full names in Messages and FaceTime?

ITunes :: Transfer New Apps From Iphone Without Replacing Apps Don't Want?
May 10, 2012When you sync your iPhone you sometimes get the following message:Â
Itunes has found purchased items on the iphone thats arenot present in your itunes library.Â
There are two reasons for this:
1. I have deleted apps in iTunes that I don't want, but not on the iPhone. I don't want to transfer the apps back to iTunes because I want them gone.
2. I have bought apps on the iPhone that I do want to keep. I want these transferred to iTunes.Â
So if I have both types 1 and 2 then there is no good answer. Preferably iTunes should offer to sync and choose which apps to transfer and what not to transfer. Is there a way to change this behaviour? By the time I sync I don't know what I've done so I'm usually not sure how to answer the question. Sometimes I like to bulk delete apps in iTunes--it is easier than doing it on the iPhone.

Mar 5, 2009OS loads very slowly...then once it does load, regular apps load okay, but safari and firefox and finder will not show up. it goes to sleep much faster than it usually does. i get spinning beachballs all the time. strangely, if i click a link in adium, it will come up in safari just fine.

I couldn't transfer my files over from my old G4 because the video card died in that Mac, so I put the hard drive into an external USB case and did the transfer of my old settings that way using Migration Assistant. All my settings seems to have moved fine and I manually moved my web files to Library/WebServer/ Documents folder, but when I turn on Web Sharing none of my files show up on the server although they are all in the Library/WebServer/ Documents folder and Web Sharing is turned on Sharing Preferences. All I get when I access the IP is "It Works".

I have moved ALL my iTunes content (music, videos etc) to the Shared Music folder on my new WD MyBook World Edition 2 (just in case that's relevant info) and everytime my Mac attempts to load iTunes I have to repeatedly direct it to the library.xml file in the Shared Music folder.Surely there's a proper solution for this? Anyone else out there had this experience and has figured it out.I've noticed that it does this only the first time I open iTunes up, any subsequent bootup within a session is fine, but any restart of my Macbook Pro and I have to repeat this.

May 2, 2012I just went through the process of buying an app as a gift to be delivered via email. Typed my personal message to the recipient, confirmed the delivery address. Got the review screen. Then when I clocked to purchase the app, I got a security screen asking me to select 3 security questions and an alternate email address. Got immediate emails from Apple noting the changes to my account. But I never got an email confirming the gift purchase. How do I tell if it went through? The item is not listed in my purchases, but maybe that's by design?  Did the security question dialog hijack the purchase process?Â
(Also checked my credit card website, and it doesn't look like there's a pending charge yet. But I'd hate to purchase this app twice.)

Dec 5, 2014I was looking to access the file sharing functionality of one of my apps (AV Player HD) in iTunes 12 and wasn't able to find out where or how to do this in the new version.Â
After a bit of searching on the internet I gathered I needed to select my device (iPad in this case) from the devices drop down, then on the left hand sidebar under the menu heading 'On My Device' I should see "Apps" listed there along with Music and Movies etc. I have:
Music
MoviesTv Shows
Books
Audio
Tones
and then some music playlists..That's it. So my questions are:
1. where is 'Apps'?
2. how am I supposed to access file sharing on AV Player HD if I can't see this menu item?Â

Sep 7, 2010I just updated my iTunes but it appears it deleted my library. This sucks because I have spent HOURS upon HOURS sorting it, renaming crooked song titles, finding covers and all that stuff. I used time machine to back up my computer like 5 days ago, but I can't figure out how to use it. I wish I could just select that given day (when I made my last backup) and make it turn everything back to what it was back then.How do I do this exactly? I don't care at all if I have to go back to the old iTunes (obviously they will fix this eventually!) - I just want it to look like it did a few days ago.
