Jun 4, 2012Which version of Image Capture should be in Snow Leopard Mac OS-X 10.6.8 When my wife attempts to run Image Capture 3.0.3 on her system (her Imac cannot be upgraded to Lion unfortunately) is unable to run. The error message is: You cannot use this version of the application Image Capture with this version of Mac OS-X.

Jun 17, 2010In order to install Windows 7 via bootcamp, do you have to use the full version of windows or can you use the upgrade disc to install? I figured I should ask before buying another license as I have an upgrade version of Windows 7 Pro that I don't use. I do own previous versions of Windows (all of them....just like I do Mac OS).

Thank you all guys at Strangedogs! It WORKS prefectlly! Since PC versions of the 3870 are cheaper than the PC+Mac version, I was wondering if I'd be able to crossfire the PC+Mac version, and a regular PC version. (Obviously I'd only be looking to run Crossfire on the Windows side.) Would this setup cause problems with either the OS X or Windows side? BTW, I've got the 2008 Mac Pro with 2 PCI-E x16 slots.

Dec 4, 2008I just bought my wife a new Al MacBook and need to migrate her Treo 700p from her old Windows machine to the new Mac. I used to use Palm Desktop for Mac and know it is a little quirky and may have some issues with Leopard, so I'm trying to decide whether I should go down that path or just install Fusion and run the windows version in a VM. Anybody have any recommendations either way? She uses Palm Desktop only for syncing, so I don't need to worry about the Leopard iSync issues.

Mar 16, 2009I just bought a mac powerbook afew weeks ago and have been downloading different applications for it on a PC. I have tried puting these files on cd's, dvd's, and external harddrives, with no luck getting them to install when put onto my mac.
I have followed tutorials for mounting disc images on macs with no apparent results.
The files are Dmg and I'm only familiar with mounting ISO's on pc's and am not even sure if there is a difference.
I have been using magic iso and magic disc to mount and burn the disc's on my pc. Am I missing a step or is this application no good for creating discwith mac's?
Do I need to convert the DMG's to iso's?

Sep 5, 2009I am a totally new Mac user and am struggling with the concept of these .dmg files that are downloaded to my desktop when i install a new application (example firefox) and then when i try to delete this file after the installation completes it appears the program requires this to run?
What do you typically do with the files after installaion? Is there a default setting someplace that tells the OS to dump and store these some place else in my HDD?
I also dont understand the icon that then gets placed on my desktop of the (in this example) firefox application... it looks like a new drive but its actually how i start the application? is it the equivalent of a link in windows or is that the .exe and my default file save settings are screwy?

Dec 25, 2008well i used to listen to my music on a site called projectplaylist.com it was great. this christmas i got a macbook and new ipod! so after buying some songs for my itunes, i had an idea. i decided to head over to projectplaylist.com before you put the song you searched for in your playlist, you can view the url. so when i put the url that ended with.mp3 into a new tab. it automatically started downloading and went straight to my itunes, and now the song is there working perfect. This is working great, but is doing this harmful to my mac? it was my only solution to the illegal and unsafe limewire.

Mar 1, 2009When I download the latest version of Safari from Apple's website and try to install it, I get a message telling me that I cannot install to my hard drive because I don't have some sort of security update.
It gives me numbers like the x.x.x version but when I search for it in Apple's website it gives me a few different versions for the update for both Tiger and Leopard.
Is this normal? If so, anyone have a link to the correct security update?

So it downloaded a 168mb file to update 10.4 to 10.4.1 It automatically tried installing, but then said it couldn't install and that it was moved into the trash. So I took it out of the trash and dragged it on my desktop. Then when I went to turn the computer on, it only shows the grey screen!

May 13, 2009I tried downloading the Mac OS X update from the update utility, and that failed. Then I went straight to apple and downloaded it from their website and it took about an hour--and I have a fast internet service! Once it finished downloading, I started the installing process. It installed, and then said it had to restart. I had to hard boot it THREE times because it would just freeze on the blue screen of death. Then it restarted on it's own three more times. Now FINALLY, I'm back up and running, but I've had some weird error messages and my Macbook Pro seems to be acting weird. Any other "success, or should I say fail" stories?
