OS X Mavericks :: Print Icon Tends To Stay On Dock After Print Job Is Done And Disorder Print Queue
Jun 28, 2014I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer!
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.

OS X Mavericks :: App Size In System Information Not Same As App Size In Finder?
Jun 4, 2014As you can see from the image above, finder is showing that apps are taking up nearly 30 GB, nearly 25 GB less than system information. What is causing this or which one is the actual size of the apps. It's not as if I'm runing out of space , I'm just a bit curious.

Jul 23, 2008I have exported the albums from iPhoto. I want burned to the desktop--which should return the photos to their original file size. When I burn to a DVD via the Burn folder--the photos are compressed.
They are usless to me in this compressed state. I need the full size files of the photos to print quality pictures and to load onto a PC for other work requiring large sized files for quality printed pictures. My DVD does not show up on my desktop so I can just drag the folder to the DVD to burn it I have to use the burn folder.

I could always do this in windows on the one screen with no problems. On the Mac it is very difficult and time consuming have rung phone support a few times and have not come up with a solution.
The last suggestion was to go thru Bridge shurly I should not have to use othere software to do such a simple thing. I thought a Mac was supposed to be easy and good for photographers but I am finding it very fustrating.

I am running OSX 10.7.2 I have installed my printer with the latest downloaded drivers etc. The printer is a HP photosmart 5510. I have gone into system preferences, then print and scan. From here I can see my printer but can't see anyway of changing the print quality. Similarly, if I go into print settings via iPhoto I have the same problem. I have been able to change the quality in Safari but can't see how to create a default setting for photo printing at the highest quality

Apr 10, 2012The website where I pay bills online has a hot link that says "print" and when I click on it, the printout is in a teeny tiny font.
The document that I print after paying each bill is the confirmation of the payment transaction. But it's almost too small to be read without a magnifying glass.
I can't find where or how to increase the font size of the printout. Firefox preferences doesn't include any sort of font size preference to choose from; and my printer application in Settings doesn't list font sizes to choose from or to set as my default size.
PageSetup allows me to choose a paper size, but not a font size.
My computer is an iMac G5; MAC OSX 10.6.8 My printer is a Canon MX850

MacBook :: 750gb WD Passport Does Not Fit?
Jul 21, 2010Just to give anybody who doesn't know a heads up. The 750gb passport se drive is too tall for a macbook. At least my model (3,1).
Can anybody point me in the direction of another good external drive that is 750 or bigger that will fit?
Also carbon copier reformatted the drive for the mac. How do I change it back and reset it to factory settings?
MacBook :: It Won't Recognize WD Passport
Feb 28, 2012Recently, I plugged my WD Passport external hard drive into my Macbook's USB port. Suddenly, after over a year of working fine, the Macbook wouldn't recognize the WD Passport. The drive's blue light came on and it was whirring, but I couldn't get an icon to appear in Finder or on the desktop. I assumed the problem was with the Passport, declared it broken and got over the loss of my files. But tonight, I plugged in my boyfriend's WD Passport and encountered the same problem. It refused to recognize it, then when I unplugged it and my boyfriend plugged it back into his Macbook...nothing. His computer would no longer recognize it, even though it had worked fine not 10 minutes prior. Does that mean the problem is my Macbook?

Jun 10, 2012I have a MacBook Pro- purchased in September of 2011- that has now stopped recognizing my WD Passport. The Passport works fine with my wife's PC laptop, but is not showing up on the MBP. The light on the Passport flashes, but that's all. It does not show up in the Finder and Time Machine is unable to perform backup.
I have first restarted the MBP and then shut down and then turned the MBP back on. Neither time did anything. I have an older SimpleTech external that it now recognizes again- after appearing not to. After multiple attempts and using both USB ports, sadly have gotten nowhere.

Aug 30, 2014I have updated my system to OS X Maverick and have lost the ability to "print preview" my files before saving. I frequently save files as jpeg files, as well as pdf. I have found that many of our flyers print better when saved as a jpeg but since the print preview option has been eliminated, I cannot save anything as a jpeg.

Feb 16, 2010So here's the deal. I got a new WD Passport Essential + Smartware (the new one) as it was on sale. So I partitioned it with GUID map gave a nice Mac OS Extended Journaled partition then I made a FAT partition, went to my cousins PC and Ubuntuized the FAT partition with Unetbootin. I couldn't test it there because I went in a rush. Got home and tried to boot it. And of course while pressing alt it didn't recognize it. Did a little searching and supposedly Western Digital drives don't work well with PPC macs when it comes to booting. I can't test it with a LiveCD or a Windows machine. I would say it was because of the PPC issue but this is an intel mac.
