Intel Mac :: How To View Photos Full Size And Then Delete If Not Sharp
May 4, 2012
I have my photos stored on extrnal hard drive and want to view them full size to see if sharp and then delete.
I could always do this in windows on the one screen with no problems. On the Mac it is very difficult and time consuming have rung phone support a few times and have not come up with a solution.
The last suggestion was to go thru Bridge shurly I should not have to use othere software to do such a simple thing. I thought a Mac was supposed to be easy and good for photographers but I am finding it very fustrating.

I have exported the albums from iPhoto. I want burned to the desktop--which should return the photos to their original file size. When I burn to a DVD via the Burn folder--the photos are compressed.
They are usless to me in this compressed state. I need the full size files of the photos to print quality pictures and to load onto a PC for other work requiring large sized files for quality printed pictures. My DVD does not show up on my desktop so I can just drag the folder to the DVD to burn it I have to use the burn folder.

I have burnt photos from iPhoto to a dvd using the iphoto burn programme. I used a dvd as I have a couple of hundred I wanted to burn. Now I would like to view them on the computer. As soon as insert the dvd, iPhoto opens and there is a section in the lefthand column called Shared. Under this heading is the name of the file I copied to the dvd. When I click on their name, the dvd's contents are displayed in iphoto and I can view them.
When I click on the dvd's icon on the desktop, I get a window with a picture of a folder, under which it says it contains 4 items. I clicked on the folder icon and it opens a new window showing 4 options:
Database
Masters
Previews
Thumbnails
Clicking on each one produces a variety of results, but nothing so simple as starting to show the pictures. My question is: How can I simply watch the pictures? Do I have to watch them in iphoto or is there another way?

I changed my partition size firstly from (full disk size) about 160GB to 80GBs in order to create a new one which was another 80GBs after that I decided to just leave this 160GB and one partition, so I did what I decided, but now there is a problem. I did everything under Installation CD and than it shows in Disk Tool that the partition is 160GB on diagrams but under it it shows: total size 80GB... and the same is when I launching Snow Leopard. I'm clicking Macintosh HD and informations than it shows total size: 80GB, I tried to change again partition sizes but it does nothing, I cannot do anything under Mac OS and bootable installation disc. I'm completely stuck it shows, always and always that "Spliting in to partitions finished due an error - could not modficate partition's map".

Here is the back ground information of this situation. I have a IMAC 21 inch 500GB Hard drive 4 GB RAM, which is up to date with OS X Ver 10.7.3. So my wife loves to stream her favorite USA TV shows via the Internet, considering we are stationed overseas. She pulled me away from the NBA playoffs because she kept getting this error of start up disk full delete files (or something to that effect.) So last week, I deleted about 40GB of old shows that we downloaded and various other files and pictures. Not even four days later the Hard drive is full again, and I think it is from my wife's streaming habit. I went to "About This IMAC", to find out where the memory was being used from and its 377 GB used in a "OTHER", and the rest being utilized from APPS, MUSIC, PICTURES, etc. So next I cleared the history and deleted the cache files and reset safari on both our log in profiles, then logged out and restarted the computer, which did not minimize the Hard drive memory being occupied. Where are those streaming files getting saved specifically, for maybe a manual delete?Â

Is there an option/tweak/add-on to show the size of a highlighted file in icon view? I know I can change to a different view or use 'Get Info' on the file but that defeats the purpose. Is there anyway to see this information on the information bar on the bottom of the window (instead of just number of files and space available on disk)?
Nothing major, just something to make life a little easier.

Any way to do that? I simply find it a hassle to click on -show view options, increase the size of the icons (128x128) then quit the menu to view my photos.

I want to know if there is a way to view photos on an external hard drive that is hooked up to my mac. I backed up all my photos to an external hard drive but don't necessarily want to transfer all of them to my mac. I can't seem to figure out how to view those photos. It's so easy with a PC.

How do I get photos to open in Preview in their Actual Size? I have checked the Preferences to open photos in Actual Size but it still zooms out leaving me to have to zoom in. I have also checked off 'Respect image and screen DPI for scale.'
Also during slideshows, how can I get the photos to be viewed in actual size? Is there a better app out there designed at what I'm getting at here?

I had to re-boot my MacBook Pro and when I turned it back on, all my photos were gone from iPhoto. I can see them in Finder in my Originals folder but I can't view them in iPhoto. If I try to import the pictures into iPhoto it tells me that the photos are already in iPhoto. How do I get all my originals so I can view them in iPhoto?

Bear with me if you already knew this, but after a few of years with OSX I've only just found it out (accidentally!)As in finder, where you can use the space bar to quick-look at files, you can do the same in Exposé hover over one of the windows and hit the space bar to get a full-sized view of it!

I moved my iphoto library to an external HD (WD Passport) and everything seemed to be working fine. Recently I added more pictures to iphoto, importing them from my camera, and when I tried to view there files, the originals on the passport hard drive, they weren't there. I went into iphoto and clicked on one of the photos and went to show file and it took me to volumes coming from the mac HD but it showed the iphoto library with all the originals. I'm confused where the volumes folder is located and how iphoto put all my photos there and not on my passport. What I should do to put all the photo folders in the same spot on my passport HD?

I have a MacBook and use iphoto. I have about 18000 pictures on it and now there is no more free space on my computer. I bought a Time Capsule and thought I would just move the photos to it. I also have other photos on two separate hard drives from an old PC. I moved some of the photos to the Time Capsule, but now I cannot view them like I can the photos on my MacBook. When I had a PC, I would just use the PC viewing program (that came with the computer) and select a drive and view the photos, but with iphoto I cannot seem to figure out how to view the photos that are on a separate drive (Time Capsule). So now I have a Time Capsule with about 9000 photos (half of what is on my MacBook) and I do not know how to view them. Also, I would like to back everything up on a web based platform like Carbonite. If anyone has any advise, ideas, suggestions, comments, etc.
