The light sensor on both my MBP and my girlfriends Air makes the keyboard dim up and down all the time. Is there any way to keep the lights on the keyboard on at all times? Some third party application perhaps?

I wanted to remove the battery like I do with my own laptop(pc) which usually works to reboot or fix a problem but there is not way to remove the Mac's battery )?

The past couple days I have been using my Macbook and all of the sudden out of nowhere the message that pops up when you press the power button on your macbook while in OSX would pop up out of nowhere. It would just come up out of nowhere without me pressing anything. My Macbook could just be sitting there and it would pop up.
Fast forward to today and I used software update to upgrade the firmware. After I restarted the computer my Macbook would not even turn on. No lights, no chimes, no nothing. I don't even get a light on my magsafe power adapter when I plug it into my Macbook anymore.I tried resetting the PRAM, resetting the SMC, reseating the RAM, and turning it on without the battery in and it still won't turn on.What else can I do? My warranty period JUST expired so I don't want to shell out $500+ to get this thing fixed. Could my logic board be dead?
My macbook pro 13" Mid 2010 model will simply not turn on! I tried does SMC and PRAM but still no results. The Macbook gives me 3 green blinking lights on the battery indicator and nothing else. I already tried switching the ram for a dead or faulty ram but still nothing. Also the power adapter doesn't seem to want to work. View 3 Replies View RelatedI just noticed this the other day when my friend had his day old MacBook out and I was helping him set it up. When I sat it next to mine, I noticed that his keyboard lights are WAY brighter than mine. Then I started realizing that they used to be brighter back in the day. What could be causing this? Could it be from an application? My MB is only 5 months old, and I've had the Moshi Clearguard for about 3 months now. Do you think the cover would have anything to do with the lights being weaker?

I replaced my logic board and couldn't get my Macbook to start, but last night I replced the RAM with the original one that came with my Macbook and it started up, everything is working fine, but the Fans are running high I can hear it loud and the keyboard light are not working, but the keys works fine. I have an early 2008 non-unibody MacBook Pro. For about a year now, the status of the battery has been "replace soon." I was still getting a pretty good amount of time off of one charge so I wasn't too worried. This past Saturday morning, I woke up, checked the battery indicator lights on my computer (it had been sleeping since the day before) and it said it had about 60% percent so I opened it. I was on the Internet for about 10 minutes before it shut off without warning.
It wouldn't turn back on when I pressed the power button, so I plugged it in and it turned back on. When I checked, the battery status was "replace now." After using it, I turned it back off and left for NYC for the weekend and didn't bring it with me. When I got home last night, I plugged it in and tried turning it on with no luck. The battery indicator light was flashing one light, so I just assumed it would need to charge for a bit before it would turn back on. After about two hours, when I went to bed, it still was flashing just one light. I kept it plugged in over night, and this morning when I checked it, the battery indicator lights showed that it was fully charged, but it still wouldn't turn on. I still kept it plugged in throughout the day just in case, but it still won't turn on even though all the lights are lit. Is the battery just showing me false information, or should I be worried about more than just the battery?

I used to just closed my Mac instead of pressing the shutdown button; I tried this time but I cannot shut it down anymore, also my keyboard cannot control the volume or turn on the keyboard-light. Also I remember there is like a back-up shortcut (or something like that don't know what is it exactly named) consisting of three keyboard button.

In regards to a 2010 13" macbook pro's illuminated keyboard.
1.) Is there a way you can make the keyboard's backlight become brighter in low light situations?
2.) Is there a way for the backlit keyboard to turn off in lit rooms and turn on in dark rooms?
For some reason the backlit keyboard becomes dimmer in low light situations. I'm finding it really irritating. I have a feeling this is the way it is suppose to be so that the keyboard doesn't blind you. Any programs to hack the light sensor?

I was surfing the web when my keyboard backlight started to fade on and offat somewhat regular intervals. After about a mintue or two of this, the backlight just went off all together. Now, when I press the F5 or F6 key to brighten or dim the keyboard, the keyboard backlight does not respond. The usual screen pop-up that shows how bright or dim the keys are no longer increases or decreases but shows the symbol of O with a slash through (like the no smoking symbol).

I've recently noticed that my MPB Keyboard's light won't turn off automatically. I've checked System Performances > Keyboard, it should turn off after 5 seconds. but it doesn't do that.

I've started to have a problem with my 2007 SR MBP. The screen starts to gradually fade out to this purplish color gray color. Most of the time it occurs when I open the lid and the computer wakes up from sleep or is powered on. Everything on the screen gets "washed away" although I know things are still working because the brightness and volume controls still work.
Tapping the lid for a bit behind the LCD seems to "shake" the screen back to its normal state. However, sometimes it'll go right back to the fading out behavior.
Unfortunately I don't have anything to capture it on video at the moment. I've taken pics but still shots don't really capture the problem well. Most of you would probably think its just a pic of my MBP with a boring background. And since I can't reproduce the problem on demand I have yet to take it in for an Apple Store. I got a 13" Macbook Pro in June 2009, and I really like the quality of the whole computer.
I just updated to OS X 10.6.5, and then I noticed a spot on my screen that looks like it's fading or ghosting. It's easiest to see when there's just light being emitted from the screen and no color, but it's always visible. I highly doubt that it's ghosting, because I never leave my screen on when I leave the computer. There are also these little black dots in rows that are visible in the fading section of the screen, but you can't see them in the attached images. I'll be able to upload higher resolution images tomorrow after noon.
Any ideas as to what this could be? I put my laptop in my backpack for school, but I'm always very careful about how I treat it and never leave it unattended. I also have no idea what that image would be if it was ghosting, because it doesn't look like anything to me.
You know how on the bottom plate of the Macbook Pro with the engraving that says your serial number and how "This computer was designed by Apple" or something like that? Is that supposed to fade away because around half of that has faded away. I'm afraid my serial number will fade away too, but it hasn't yet. Is that because the serial number is engraved and the text above it isn't?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had my MacBook Pro for less than a year and usually very happy with it. However, in the last week the speakers have been playing up. When I'm watching a show or movie, at unexplained times, the audio will fade out so it sounds really quiet and sort of far away. This has been happening on different players, such as VLC and Quicktime. It also happens with different files, and at random times. It seems that playing a song or two on iTunes fixes it. The laptop has definitely NOT been around any liquid or anything that could have damaged the speakers.

I have had my MB for a year now and I just noticed yesterday that when I have ichat (or any program open) and safari in the background the inactive safari window fades to transparent when not in use (when another window is on top of it). Is there any way to disable this? Or has anybody else had this problem. I don't remember turing on an option like this.
