Mac :: Macbook To Sharp AQUOS Via HDMI - NO Sound On Tv?
Aug 28, 2010
Just got the new macbook connected to a newish Sharp Aquos HD tv. Done this with hdmi to dvi cable and adaptor all supplied by apple. Have the tv on HDMI2 channel and the image is great and worked out the mirroring etc... but...NO SOUND. Have tried everything on the tv i can think of and found in the menu options.
I have a 2011-model 60-inch Sharp Aquos TV and I'm trying to connect my MacBook Air to it via HDMI. The two devices seem to be aware of each other because the MacBook Air resets its display when I plug in the cable; however, there is no picture on the TV. It's just black. I know that it's some kind of incomatibility problem rather than somethign broken because (a) it doess exatly the same thing with two different MacBooks, different adapters, different cables; and (b) it works fine with other computers (Windows). I've tried jiggling all posible settings through System Preferences (there aren't many though).
So here's the thing: is there some under-the-hood way I can jiggle with the settings of the signal the MacBook is sending out to the TV, to try to give it a signal it recognizes? I mean, simple-mindedly, maybe it's sending a refresh rate that the TV doesn't like or somethign like that - but System Preferences doesn't give me a way of changing that.
I just purchased a mac mini and I hooked up the vga cord, however there are two black bars on the left and right sides of the output (everything else is scaled fine but it looks like it is showing on a tube screen). What resolution/tweaks do i have to make in order to get this to fit my entire screen? I am using the typical VGA adaptor for output from the mac mini to the tv.
When I click on the built-in mouse (whatever it's called), it's a lot louder/snappier sounding and feeling - makes more of a loud clicking sound - then my old Powerbook G4 did. Might I have got one that's a little out of whack or are they all that way? If it's normal, why so "clicky?" These days aren't they able to make things softer/quieter? I also noticed how sharp one of the corners is in the area where the latch (or lack of) is...that center area where you lift up the lid. I like that much better than the old one but does anyone else have the problem of a corner being too sharp?
I just bought Samsung UN46C7000WFXZA. I want to connect my macbook pro to the TV and i got all the cables that i need.
1- HDMI cable 2- Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter. 3- this sit that include Audio Cable
[URL] I did connect everything my macbook pro very well to the TV using HDMI cable from the laptop to HDMI/DVI port in the TV. Also I connected the Audio cable from my Headphone port in my laptop to PC/DVI Audio IN in the TV. Yes I got the pic and everything is good but no sound at all. I tried everything and i searched the net but no luck or answer at all.
When I connect my macbook air to my television with a HDMI and minijack I get no sound ... Why is that? Other computers (including macs) work with my television that way.
I've just purchased a Mini Display Port to HDMI Adaptor, The picture is great, quality is super, however I can only here sound through my Macbook pro. I know my MBP supports sound through HDMI, I've checked System Information and under Audio built in, there is HDMI Display port output. I don't know how to tell MBP to play sound through HDMI.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Magic Mouse, and airport express
I have a vizio hdtv and I have hooked up the video with a hdmi cable adapted to the mini display port and that is working fine but I cannot send sound through it or idk how to. So i bought a optical toslink to mini toslink cable to send audio form the laptop to the tv but the audio still doesn't work. The laptop says that it automatically recognizes it as a digital output.
Total newbie here bought a new 17" i7 macbook and I bought an minidisplay to HDMI adapter and when I connect I can see a picture but no sound, i tried going into the system preferences and seeing if there was an hdmi output but I cannot see anything.
I have a Sasmung LCD HDTV that is connected to my Macbook Pro via HDMI (MiniDisplay Port). The TV is connected to a Sony receiver that is capable of surround sound (reads AC3).The video and sound is working. However, I have an AC3 encoded video file, that doesn't pick up on the receiver. It just says "Stereo PCM" but it's not surround sound. Is there any way to fix this? What information would you need from me about this?
Just received my new minidisplay port to HDMI to connect my macbook pro 2010 to my LCD. I did connect and got perfect image but I can get how to transfer the sound from the mac to the lcd.
It was working fine for the past month and now I reconnected everything after moving the TV and I can't get sound... I've triple checked all settings on TV and MacBook.
I have the MDP to HDMI and i want to get the audio from my macbook to come out of my Samsung 32" HDTV ive tried 3.5mm M/M didnt work and optical cable didnt work either am i doing something wrong? How would i get audio to output from my TV?
I have the first generation of the silver macbook (with the black keyboard- before it went to macbook pro). I have been watching movies from my computer onto my TV via a HDMI cable. For a while now I have been trying to get the sound from my computer to go onto my TV, but I do not have the option of HDMI on my computer.
today i bought the mini display port to HDMI Adapter at the Apple store. The video display is fine but there is no audio. I checked my preferences and there is no option for the TV's speakers. My macbook is from 2009 if this would make a difference.
I have just ordered a Macbook Air. I have an external monitor that has speakers seperate. If I use a minidisplay port to hdmi adaptor to connect to the monitor, will the sound be able to be played out of the speakers of the Air? If not, can I connect an audio jack and have it play through the seperate speakers?
Mac Book Pro retina ( OS X 10.9.4 ) 10 months old; Apple Tv 10 months old connected to Sony TV . Get picture but no sound. I then connected Mac Book to Sony TV via a HDMI cable. Again picture but no sound. Rebooted Mac Book tried again, no success.
I would like to have audiosignal out on both HDMI and analog jack simultaneously, but it seems like i only can use one at the time - is that really true...?
Can the new MAC mini output sound over HMDI. I have an older mini with DVI and it cannot output sound so I am considering buying a new one if sound is supported.
Sound was working fine on mac mini (mid 2010) until I updated to 10.7.4. Now Toshiba TV shows up as an option under sound, but no sound comes out. I tested that my stereo system is not the problem - it still plays sound through hdmi from the blu ray player.I tried resetting PRAM and SMC on the mac mini, neither worked. I followed all the troubleshooting steps prior to resetting the SMC and the problem persisted.
I've been ghosting here for months, eagerly awaiting the new MacBook with all of you. I now own one (as of Monday morning) and am loving it, except for one thing -- the sharp edges that cut into my wrists while I type! I've read various threads with complaints about this, but haven't seen any suggestions for fixing it (sorry if I missed postings about this elsewhere). My two ideas are either to sand down the edges until they're rounded and smooth, or put something on it (a piece of cloth? glue?)
Not too long ago I've bought myself a Macbook Pro 15 inch (version 10.7.3) and with it I also got myself a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (by Moshi). After I got those I also got myself a HDMI-cable to connect my MBP to my Samsung tv (1080p full HD). After getting the 2 connected and inserting the right variables (resolution to 1080p)(frequency to 60 hz), also tried to change the settings of the TV itselft but the screen is just VERY blurry, not sharp at all.

I've seen various posts about the sharp edge on the front of the MBA keyboard. Although I think the MBA is fantastic in every other respect, I find this "design flaw" to be a real irritation, and can't imagine how it got through Apple's meticulous product testing process.
In my office I normally wear long-sleeved shirts, so the sharp edge doesn't present much of a problem, but on a long flight recently, my lower forearms were literally chafed after a 2-hour session with the MBA. I find it uncomfortable to rest my wrists on the keyboard for even a few minutes.
I just bought a new MacBook Pro 15" a few days ago. I am completely in love with just about every aspect of it except for one pesky thing -- the edges of the aluminum unibody are ridiculously sharp and dig into my wrists after prolonged use. I seriously don't know how this feature ever got passed Apple's design team and the user test trials. Anyway, I've seen some similar posts about this but no one seems to give any good solutions. My question is - does anyone know of any good accessory products (wrist rests, etc...) that would remedy this? The ones I've seen just seem to be palm rest protectors and don't address the actual edges of the computer. Or, does anyone have any ideas for home remedies? I thought of maybe buying some moleskin or foam and applying it over the edge but that would prove to be quite unsightly I'm sure.
if i buy the mini display port to dvi adapter, could i use it with a dvi to hdmi cable for my monitor. This is because the dvi and vga ports are already taken up.
