Apr 21, 2012My icons on any window are tilted and looked crooked. The same on my Mac mini. Any explanation?

Apr 22, 2010I just received my CTO 17" i7 MBP and the moment I turned it on I noticed the screen (actual LCD) was tilted slightly in the aluminum case. I use my computer for work 8+ hours a day. Will I be able to return/exchange this machine for a standard non-CTO machine at an Apple store? If not, will Apple charge me a restocking fee if I simply return the CTO and go buy one at a local Apple store?

Aug 24, 2009I replaced my Cd-rom/DVD player a month ago after it was giving me trouble. I bought a Superdrive on ebay and installed it. I'm still having problems though, and I can barely use it. I have to tilt the laptop back to get it to read or eject a disc. Do you think it's the drive or is it some other problem since I am on my 2nd drive? I don't have the money to have apple fix it, it's only 1.5 years old.

Mar 19, 2012My MacBook Pro occasionally has trouble connecting to the wireless network in my house, but that can usually be solved by turning Airport off and then back on. Today (very suddenly), Airport disconnected from my network and could not find it again. I tried restarting my MacBook Pro and router multiple times. Finally it was able to connect, but here's the thing: it only works if my MacBook is tilted at an angle. If I try to open a webpage while the MacBook is sitting normally on a flat surface, the page won't load. If I lift one side of the MacBook so that it's tilted at a 45 degree angle, the page will load. Once it's level again the internet will stop working and the Airport signal bars will turn gray.

May 6, 2012I bought my macbook pro at the apple store last week (brand new 6 days old, 15" 2.2 ghz i7) and am noticing a clicking sound from the right side of the track pad when i pick it up/ tilt it on my lap. This doesnt occur everytime I pick it up/ move it but often enough throughout the day. I recall the same sound when my powerbook hd crashed many years ago, so I'm a bit concerned.

Jul 20, 2010I have the rev. C Air, recently bought. It works fine but I have noticed that when I tilt the screen back almost all of the way that the front left side lifts slightly off the desk. I can see that the front left pad is not touching the desk. Is this an idiosyncrasy of the computer? Do others have the same symptom? Of course once I place my hands on the computer and start typing it's not really a problem, but I can certainly feel it click down to the desk or if I lift my hands off and slightly push down there is a space there. I think it is a weight issue, because once I pull the screen slightly towards me the space disappears as well as the issue.

Sep 23, 2006Ever since I sold it here on MR and got it back, there has been a problem with my 12" Dual USB iBook G3 500MHz's screen (lord, that's a long name). Whenever the screen is tilted back farther than 45 degrees or so, the backlight shuts off. I can open the casing and fix it if it's possible. Does anyone know what the problem with it is? I'm trying to get it fixed up and ready to sell back to my friend as his first Mac, and I'm trying to get every problem resolved

Sep 29, 2008i am a tad stumped by this issue i'm having right now with my new imac. i noticed one day that none of my desktop aliases show any longer. in fact if i go to the desktop folder through finder my files and such show in there however none of my aliases nor those files show on the actual desktop. another thing i've noticed is that whenever i now try to drag and drop anything to the desktop whether it be a URL from safari or an alias i made in finder the dragged item simply just drags itself back to where i pulled it from.

Jul 1, 2012I turned my mac on today to find that all the desktop items have either disappeared or are taking a very long time to load if they are there. I have tried turning my computer off and on by pressing the power off button due to being unable to turn it off or restart via the button on the desktop. Sep 17, 2010Having just migrated from windows I'm still trying to get my head around downloading music movies etc from my back up discs I made from itunes. I've reinstalled itunes on my new MBP and afterwards it puts a blue movie and music folder on the desktop. I'm not sure what to do with these as they must contain the actual music and movies. before I deleted these folders and found that when I tried to access the music a window couldn't locate it.
