MacBook Pro :: Attaching File - Icons Extremely Big?
Oct 11, 2010
Not sure if I am imagining this or I messed up something but when I go to a site to attach a file, whether it be tiny pic or gmail, when I do the icon view, the icons are extremely big. Not sure if there was a choice of shrinking them so I am wondering if anyone could check their comp for me. The option I am talking about is like when you open the finder, in the bottom right corner you have that slider that lets you adjust the size of the icons.
I am wondering why my MBP takes about 7-8 mins to copy 700 mb files from the external (Seagate FreeAgent pro 500 Gb) and of course, it takes about 1 hour to copy 7 Gb files.
However, this problem has occurred only copying file from external to my MBP, the transfer rate is fine when copying files from MBP to external
Note : I've already repair the disk by using disk utilities, but it doesn't help me at all.
I have a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070 monitor that I am trying to attach to a Macbook. The Macbook is aware of the monitor, I have tried mirror and non mirror display options, but the monitor remains blacked out with just a flashing yellow light. I have tried to match the resolution etc. but to no avail.
When I attach photos and some docs to an email they embed into the email rather than attach. I know that I can change to 'show as icon' and this does change but when the email is received by recipient the attachment is again embeded into the email and not an icon.
I have this odd problem on my i5 MBP. When I have no external drives attached AJA System test reports my SSD speed at about 227mb/s read and write. When I plug in a USB external drive the SSD reports the same speed. When I plug in a FW800 drive the speeds jumo to 234 - 245mb/s. When I unplug the FW800 drive they go back down.
How do I attach pictures to an email in Yahoo as a file and not as a picture. I just want the file to be attached, but when I click on the paper clip icon and select the picture I want, it places the picture in the body of the email. I use Macbook Air and Mavericks OSx 10.9.5
Info: MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2013), I use Mavericks 10.9.5
Downoaded a pack of icons and been trying to replace certain folder icons with the new ones.
I command click and choose 'getInfo' on the icon file I want, but when I select the icon in the getInfo window, copy is greyed out in the edit menu.
I am the only user on my macbook pro and therefore have administration rights. I've checked the permissions of rellevent files and all are set to read/write.
I recently installed Transmission (a bit torrent client) to see how good it is. Previous to this I have always used Limewire. I didn't like Transmission so I deleted it, but now all my .torrent files no longer have the torrent/limewire image on them. Now they are just plain white files.
I was dragging some files from one folder to another inside the (Snow Leopard) Finder and accidentally dragged them up into the top bar of the Finder window itself. How do I remove them from this position? I can't drag them off because as soon as I click on them, they open.
When I'm dragging a bunch of files, say in list view, from one open folder window to another, what is the purpose of their jumping around from one configuration to another as I'm dragging them? Is this supposed to make dragging easier? I've been trying to live with this for five months now since getting my new Mac and the purpose of this is still lost on me. I thought it was somehow supposed to make seeing what you're dragging easier in some way, but I find these constant acrobatics to be simply annoying. This never happened in the pre-Lion OS, and after giving it a lengthy and fair trial, I still can't see the point of it. It is distracting and makes it harder to see what I am dragging and where.
why are my saved photoshop file icons pixelated? I have not changed any settings but suddenly my saved file icons have become pixelated. The file opens normally and seems fine.
I have to hit program folder twice to see the icons in this folder.I have a 17" 2.9 GHZ Unibody, When I go into the finder and hit "Programs" the folder opens but no icons are shown, If I hit it a second time (via left menu in window) they are shown roght away.
On my Macbook, running Leopard, I recently changed all my icons. (applications, folders, default files, etc.) I changed the Finder and Trash icons via System/Library/CoreServices. But the Dock won't recognize that the Finder icon has changed-- it's still showing me the old icon. That's Problem 1.
Then I created a new user account, and discovered that on that account the Dock shows the correct Finder image. But Problem 2: the new account doesn't recognize my default file icons. It flashes them for a second when I save the file, and then reverts back to the regular white default image. (Even though all the .icns files are correct in the application's Resources folder.) I really don't want to download Candybar or anything, since I know it can be done without that.
I used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my drive to another higher capacity drive. The cloning process went smoothly. Afterwards I noticed my file icons were all blank and setting the default application would not work. The default appears as some .ico file. I ran Disk Warrior through it and it found some problems that it was able to repair. Now, setting the default app works but my icons still appear blank. I can double click on a file and the correct app will launch but the file icons are still blank.
I have recently changed all my movie files on my Snow Leopard system to be launchable by QuickTime Player 7 instead of QuickTime Player X [see note below]. For various historical reasons, these movie files have a variety of icons associated with them. I'd like to run some sort of utility which does a mass change of the icons of all my movies to the same, one, single icon ... and I'd like to do this in one fell swoop, instead of having to go through an icon change procedure movie by movie by movie by movie by movie by movie by movie by movie ...
After changing all my movies to be launchable by QT 7, I have restarted Finder and restarted my machine, but the old icons remain on all of the movies.
Is there any way that I can perform this mass icon change under Snow Leopard, or am I out of luck?
I am trying to retrieve all my music because they dont appear in itunes anymore. I accidentally deleted all files from trash and now most files appear on my desktop.
I'm running 10.5.4. Mac Mail won't allow me to attach a document to a message. Whether I drag-and-drop the document or open the menu and select a document, the file doesn't "stick." There's no error message or anything... it simply doesn't take.
The weird thing is that I only have this problem when I compose a new message. I can attach things just fine as long as I am replying to an email.
I have an iBook G3 with a busted logic board. I sent it away for someone to weld something, and that fixed it for a few months. I do not want to pay $75 dollars to get it welded again, because I feel like at this point I could try it myself.Does anyone know of any tutorials, or like some step by step instructions, on how to open this baby up, and where to weld? Thanks.Edit: I heard there is an easier way to do this, wedging something into the LB and attaching it with tape or something. This would be preferable.
I am having an incredibly frustrating time trying to connect my iMac to a Panasonic Viera TV.
Using a mini DVI to DVI adapter attached to a DVI to HDMI cable (I am not concerned about sound right now) I am getting nothing but a blank screen on the TV. The cable is plugged into the HDMI1 porrt on the TV (but I have tried both). The iMac is recognising the TV but despite playing around with the settings on the preferences I am still unable to mirror the iMac display on the TV. All cables are brand new.
I have tried rebooting the iMac whilst in the HDMI setting on the TV but without success.
Hi, I just acquired a PowerMac G4 500mhz that works great. However, the hinge is broken. It is on the right side (if you are sitting at the laptop). The screen casing is broken where the hinge is. There is nothing wrong with the screen, just the aluminum cases that covers it on the edges. I was able to remove the broken hinge from the computer. My problem is attaching a new hinge to the case without damaging anything.
Composing an e-mail on G-mail and I want to attach a file, the window opens in such a large size that I cannot see or can I click on the "Cancel" button or the "Open" button to attach it to the e-mail. How do I reduce the size of the Finder window
I have a 2007 white C2D 2.16 MacBook. Over the last couple of days it has been getting extremely hot, too hot to put on my lap or even touch sometimes. I have iStat pro but have never paid any attention to the temps before so I can't tell how much it has actually risen. Also my power adapter doesn't light up properly. It will go the right colour for a bit and then just go a really faint green that I can just make out if the room light is off. If I unplug it and then plug it back in it comes back on, but only for a few minutes or so. The computer still charges tho. I am out of Apple Care so I don't really know what to do.
I purchased a new hard drive from WD. It's "My Book Essential Edition", with 640GB of storage.
Anyway, I plugged the hard drive onto the Time Capsule's USB slot, and having an issue. The issue is that when I click on Time Capsule from Finder, I see the new hard attached USB hard drive. But when I click on it, it creates an error. The situation seems to crash my Time Capsule as well, since it doesn't respond, can't get on internet, and also doesn't appear on Airport Utility.
I must have unplugged and plugged back in Time Capsule about ten times trying this out, but I'm afraid that this might cause problems. So before I do anymore damages, what do you think is the problem based on my issues?
If I had to narrow it down,
1) maybe something about the format. (Mac OS Extended or MS-DOS (FAT)). I plan to use Time Capsule and share files on both TC and the attached USB Hard drive with Mac and PC.I mean it worked right out of the box. I didn't have to format it or anything, as it just kinda worked, when I plugged it in.
2) Something about the USB cable. When I first opened the box, I was quite surprised to see that the USB cable that came with the drive was one of those mini USB cables.
3) wrong with the drive all together. Maybe a defect or incompatibility with the drive and TC. It does say on the box "Mac OS X 10.3+" on the box.
When I attempt to attach a file of a photo into Apple Mail I get the image instead of a file. I googled this and the suggestion about right-clicking in photo browser did not work.
