ITunes :: Why Apple Id Was Locked
Apr 18, 2012It seems i can't figure out why my apple id was locked. So i think i will create a whole new id and email. Would this be advisable?

Apr 27, 2008Apple Mail has been locking up my system consistently when either receiving/syncing operations occur w/ IMAP mail. It's hard to trigger it but eventually I'll try to pull up a new message and.. bam. For it its just limited to IMAP, I'm not quite sure.

Jun 26, 2012I use an external hard drive for Time Machine backups and to store some larger video files in a folder called Videos. The Videos folder on the external drive is now locked and I can't unlock it. I go to Get Info, hit the lock icon and enter my password, but the "Locked" checkbox is greyed out in the General section. In the Sharing and Permissions section, instead of displaying my name, it says "Fetching . . ." and I can't change the Privilege from "Write Only".

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Preview Shows Files As Locked While They Are Not Locked?
Jul 1, 2012I can't seem to edit any pictures with Preview anymore since I upgraded to Lion. Every time I try to save an image after resizing or whatever, it says the file is locked. If I check the info of the file the "locked" checkmark is unchecked. And I have all the permissions to the file. Tried everything, switched the "lock after 2 weeks" thing of in Time Machine (even though tha would probably not help: images I took today are still "locked" in Preview), tried copying them and then saving them, and tried to lock them and then unlock them, but I can't seem to edit and save them.

May 13, 2009Getting a message within photoshop that files cannot be saved as they are locked. I check the same files with 'Get Info' and the locked file box is unchecked. I have changed file permissions on the entire disc so that everyone can read/write but still the same message. Tried terminal command to uncheck flags also to no avail. I can do save as but a little frustrating. Is there a workaround to get all my files back onside?
This is a new disc that I may have installed without due care to permissions/ownership when I formatted it.

Dec 10, 2008I've always had my iTunes window centered on my screen, until now that I realize that the iTunes window refuses to place itself anywhere on the screen except for in center! If I try to move it in any other position, it just pops back in place.

Feb 21, 2012I need serious help. I've tried just about everything I've read online. When I try to run iTunes, it claims that iTunes is on a locked disk or that I don't have write permissions. I've went into the secutiry tab and such and gave myself full control, yet it still isn't working. It also won't let me unclick the "Read Only" box. I'm on Windows 7.

Happened after iMac crashed and was restored from Time Machine. I shut down the iMac for 4 days and when started up said I need to erase HD and restore from Time Machine. Mar 20, 2012I have somehow lost all my iTunes. When I go to play something - I get the grey exclamation mark comes up. In trying to restore from Timw Machine, I find my iTunes is now unlocked. I have gone through the process of unlocking every file I can find and changing all the permissions to read and write. However it is still locked.
a) how to unlock iTunes using a defferent technique to that which I have tried.
b) tell me EXACTLY (step by step - because I am a mac newbie!) how I restore from my Time machine preferably. I do have my full collection (about 15 000 pieces) on my ipod if I need that - but I am terrified of loosing everything?

Jan 21, 2009I have an iBook G4 that runs on OS X. Today, my software update box popped up, and I downloaded the new version of itunes. It worked. Then the other update didn't finish. I'm not sure if that's connected. Now, my itunes won't open. When I first tried, nothing would happen. So I restarted the computer, but it wouldn't full restart (stuck on the box with an apple, acting like it was starting up but never did). So I did an archive install with my discs. That worked. But now when I try to open itunes, a box pops up and says that "you cannot use this application with this version of OS X." What?? I feel tricked and panicky. What can I do?

Mar 30, 2012Since installing 10.6.1 (which I was very much looking forward to, for the TV Show sort order bug fix), I can't use Apple TV (gen 2) at all for streaming my own movies. It'll play somewhere between 0 and 30 seconds of video (usually closer to 0), then give "An error occurred". I have installed it on two different Macs, one running Snow Leopard 10.6.8, one running Lion 10.7.3. Same error streaming from both machines. I reverted the SL machine back to 10.6, since that machine holds most of my media, and the error went away.

May 9, 2012I have a valid Apple ID (as shown by the fact that I can log onto the Apple Support communities), but when I try to log into iTunes it says, "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store." I'm trying to log in so I can back up my iPhone with my iCloud (iCloud under my current, valid Apple ID). If I can successfully log into iTunes with this Apple ID, can I then successfully back up my iPhone with my iCloud?
