ITunes :: Burn Option Not Available Anywhere In Menu Or Playlist Window?
May 25, 2012
I am trying to burn some audio mix CDs from my iTunes collection, and as my MacBook Pro's Superdrive has got fluff in it or something similar, I am sharing my library with my girlfriend's iMac and attempting to burn from there. We both run the current iTunes, but I have the burn options on my MBP's menu but cannot see any burn options on the iMac's menu or in the playlist window. It's not just my library I can't burn on her iMac, I couldn't burn any of her library either. It's not that burn options are greyed out, they aren't there at all. Very odd considering we are both running current iTunes.
Whenever I make a playlist in iTunes to the order I want to burn the songs in, after the CD has been burned it has changed the order of the songs. I have tried clicking on the 'copy to play order' button on that playlist folder, but nothing seems to work.
I have been using itunes for many years and have burned countless cd's. Suddenly on many of my standard sized playlists I am getting the 'the songs in this playlist will not fit on one audio cd' prompt and nothing I do seems to fix it. A typical playlist size is 18 songs, 1.2 hours, under 200mb, and all of this should fit fine on an 80min., 700mb cd. I have tried changing from audio to mp3 in the burning preferences, then to a data cd {which actually looks like it sort of worked, but put the songs in artists alphabetical order- rearranging my entire mix}.. Since I imported my library from an older IMac to a newer one- many songs are cutting off at some random point in the song.. and, oddly enough, if an entire album the cut-off time is the same for every song in that album..
I started using OS X Lion last week. For some reason, when I launch iTunes, the window has no close button, zoom button nor minimize button. Moreover, the Mac menu bar doesn't show up.

I'm putting together a huge selection of reggae and island music for a luau and was wondering if, when I transfer the playlist to my iPod Touch, if it will keep the order of the songs or rearrange them to alphabetical. I'd like to keep the order I put it in, not alphabetical. Thoughts?
I'm trying to burn a playlist to a CD-R (which I have done successfully before). Now I get an error "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc drive didn't respond properly and can't recover or retry." I'm running 10.6.8; iTunes 10.6.3
I installed Windows 7 64bit on a boot camp partition on my new Macbook. I remember when I installed Boot Camp 2 on my iMac, it allowed me to burn a cd with all the drivers. There was no option for that this time around. I want to be able to use my multi-touch track pad and I just can't seem to find out how to do it? With the last version everything just worked and took me step by step, whereas this time, I'm a little confused.
This is a bit of a strange problem, and I'm not entirely certain what caused the behavior I liked in the first place. I thought it was a Snow Leopard problem, but friends of mine have said they've never had the behavior I seem to have lost. I use Adium every day, and I like to have my window in the bottom corner of my screen, below the top of the dock, like so: In Leopard, this window always stayed in its position, even if I closed it.
However, after upgrading to Snow Leopard, the bottom of the window aligns itself to the top of the dock. This is an irritating behavior and I'd like the old one back, however, I've done some pretty extensive searching to no avail. In lieu of getting this exact behavior back, could anyone recommend a program that might force the window to remember its old position or lock positions or something?
I added a network printer (HP Laserjet 2300) to my MB (OS 10.5.8) printer list and I can print single sided just fine. BUT there is no option anywhere in my print menu to print double sided. My two labmates can print double sided on this printer (one using MBP with OS 10.6, one a Windows PC). The menu on the MBP looks different and where I have the "reverse pages" option, they have a "double-sided" check box.
I have already:
-Checked the Duplex Unit box on the printer info menu in System preferences
-Looked at ALL the sub menus in the printer menu
-tried to reinstall the drivers (current driver v. 4.3.5.153 - I suspect this may be the issue because the MBP that can print double sided has driver v. 16.something). Actually the HP site was extraordinarily unhelpful in telling me even what version of drivers I should have or getting me to a place where i could download.
-Restarted my computer with various iterations of the above.
This printer can and does print double sided -just not from my computer because I don't have the check box.
I cannot quit Safari. Quit is shaded in the menu. I control/click on icon in dock and quit, but it does not work. I reset Safari - still no change. Can't shut down.
I'm using a new iMac (OS 10.7.4) and was wondereing if it possible to stop my machine from constantly changing the input menu from "Britsh" to "U.S.". This is the item with the small national flag icon in the Finder menu.
Is there a way of removing one of these options permanently, in my case remove the U.S. option?
Before I ask this question, I just want to emphasize that I KNOW how easy it is to create a service using automator. I'm not looking to clutter up my contextual menu more than it already is, I would just like to edit/alter an already existing submenu, or simply add a new one like Dropbox does.
I would like to add a share option to my right-click contextual share option for outlook, or whatever app/service I would like to send the file with.
add a share option to the contextual-menu, and possibly delete some I don't use, like flickr or twitter.

I am running Lion Version 10.7.3 and use Firefox most of the time. When I want to download video content I used to go to the Window tab, hit activity and find the file. I would then copy it and go back to the window tab a click on download. I updated Safari to 5.1.3 and no longer have the download option visible.
I reinstalled Tiger a few days ago, im running the latest version 10.4.11.Since the reinstall when I try to click the 'send file' option in the bluetooth menu, it just doesn't do anything. My bluetooth is working fine with my mouse, but doesn't even recognise that Ive clicked the option when I try to send file.Anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?
I'm trying to Print a "Phone List" from Entourage address book. I know "phone list" is an option in the drop down box of the print menu but cannot seem to have company name print on phone list. It only shows persons name and phone numbers.
I have several iMacs in my office with Lion and Mail 5.1. I have a user who wants to View attachments as Icons to ensure all are attached prior to sending. Unlike all the other iMacs, hers does not have the option "View in Place" and "View as Icon" when she right-clicks on the attachment.
I have found in other posts that you cannot set a defaul to ensure Icons or View in Place will always occur, and that the default depends on the type and size of attachment. I am not sure of that logic, but she can't even choose on an individual email basis. How can those options be enabled?
I have had chronic "buggy" issues with my mac. Here are some examples: - When I open a new window (i.e. double click on a Word or pdf document from the finder) it will open behind other windows. - When I click on a window that I want to work on, it won't come to the front, I have to click on other windows in front of it then click on the window I want to finally get it to the front. - In Finder if, for example, I click on a file to re-name it, the renaming box appears elsewhere on the screen - not in the spot that I clicked. Also, if I am moving a file from one folder to another, the folder I want to move it to often won't highlight when I am hovering on top of it, but when I am elsewhere on the screen (it's as if what is showing on the screen is not aligned with where the mac thinks things are located on the screen).
The Help file indicates that the LCD can show software instrument note and chord names (Choose Control > Show Chords in LCD to show note and chord names as you play on the selected Software Instrument track.), but the option is not in the Control Menu, or in the LCD.
I some local internet streams which I listen to, when I added them a long time ago I couldn't add them to the itunes radio tab :-( but created a playlist.I would like to have those streams available on my laptop but since there is no "music" it does not sync. Is there a way to do this? It would be nice to have them on the idevices as well but there i just use a radio app.
