Aug 3, 2010I'm burning a few CD's to listen to in my car...
the audiobooks i'm burning are going at the maximum speed, as its simply an audiobook...but as for my music, i'd prefer the best sound I can get..
..So this leads me to wonder if a slower burning speed, such as 2x or 4x, are better than say 12x, for sound?
Can anyone verify this provide some insight on the matter?

Jul 15, 2009We have a desktop PC wired into an Airport Extreme and then my macbook pro wirelessly connected. We are both running at the same speed - slower than dial up! I had Time Warner talk me through checking the connection and everything is fine on their end. They said it the problem was airport. I called Apple and was suggested to "change channels" to an odd number instead of using "automatic" through manual set up. Tried that - just as slow. I also upgraded to 7.4.2.

I'm not sure what is causing it....Is there a log that will show me any memory leaks or at least what was using up the most memory/CPU at the time it freezes? a lot of times it freezes awhile after the screensaver kicks in.

Software :: Unable To Play Game - Requires Bus Speed Of 500MHz?
Apr 30, 2010I just bought a new iMac with 1 processor with a speed of 3.06 GHz, dual core, 4 gigs of memory, and a bus speed of 1.07 GHz.
I'm trying to run an old Tiger Woods golf game on it. When I put in the CD it says the game requires a bus speed of 500 MHz and at least 1 MB of disk space free and the game will not run.
Being brand new, the Mac has almost all of it's memory space available and the speed required (500MHz) for the game is well below the bus speed of my computer (1.07GHz). Any ideas why the game won't run?

Dec 31, 2010System Spec: Late 09 21" 3.06, GeForce 9400, 4gb ramCurrently I have itunes and safari running, if i enable the visualizer my imac is noticeably slower, especially when browsing the internet.I thought it might be the fact I was running a second 1080p display from the 9400 would have caused the slow down. But the same thing occurred after i disconnected it. After repairing permissions and restarting, pmram etc.Is the 9400 causing the slowdown? I know its fairly old but itunes visualizer and safari should be quite basic tasks. Its not the end of the world i know but does the 27" imac have similar issues as i plan to upgrade my machine in 2011.

I went to Support but could not find a solution specific to my issue. I have downloaded over 2500 songs and this has not happened before. This song was one of nine other songs I downloaded that evening...all others came through successfully.

Sep 1, 2010I recently upgraded my system HDD to an SSD with a new install of OSX 10.6.4 and mimicked the settings I had on my previous set up to replicate it. however, when for example I was using iTunes to play music the screen saver would come on and a short time later the system would pause iTunes and goes into Sleep mode.
my previous install never did that so I'm not sure if its because of the SSD and it not being mechanical it doesnt recognize it accessing or seeking 'per se' because regardless of unchecking "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" it still does it. here is an image of energy saver settings; btw I had the system plugged into and still went into sleep mode when iTunes was playing and even other media formats such as Video in iTunes or VLC.

Nov 22, 2010I transferred all my itunes library to an external hard drive.I had all my songs in itunes and then went to "preferences" and set itunes to look on my external hard drive for my itunes. Then I went to "library" and then "consolidate", and it moved all my library over to my external. I can verify that my songs are all there on my externalHowever, now, itunes won't play any songs of mine. I double click on the song in itunes and it just wont play. There's no error message, there's no exclamation point, it just won't play. Any idea what is goign on? Preferences still shows that my library is directing to the external

Nov 30, 2008Anyone know how to speed up movies downloaded via iTunes so they play at the correct speed? Movies don't sync with the sound correctly and pause a lot while playing. I've got an iBook G4 with OSX 10.3.9, 1GHZ Processor and 640 mb ddr sdram. Do I need to upgrade the ram to 1024mb? Or could my video card be going out? I use quicktime v. 7.5 to watch them. Apr 30, 2009Sorry for the title but I couldn't think of anything better. Hopefully I'll be able to explain my problem. I have a MPR 2.53 ghz, 4 gig ram, I'm using Safari 4.04. I am using the WIFI at a guesthouse in Thailand (but I had the same issue in China, Vietnam ...). I ran a speed test and it said download 7mb/sec and upload about 1mb/sec. I have an "app" that says bandwidth in 1.3kb/sec out 1.0kbs. I thought maybe it was Safari so I downloaded and installed Firefox. firefox gives me similar speeds. When I downloaded Firefox though I had a download speed of over 1mb/sec. But as soon as it finished downloading the speed went back to around 1kb/sec. I have rebooted my MBP many times. I did some Google searches but didn't find anything helpful.

Apr 10, 2009I have a WDS local network at my house. I use a Airport Extreme in my main part of the house and a Airport Express for my back part of the house i.e. the backyard. Now every two weeks or so my internet speed through my Airport Express slows down about half the speed but when I am connected trough the Airport Extreme my speed is normal. I know this because I test my connection very often. Now when I want the Airport Express to get back up to speed I have to unplug, and plug it back in. Then after awhile it starts to slow down again in a time period of two weeks or so.

I have this problem that is completely reproducible every time and I wanted to check whether anyone else can confirm it .
When I'm listening to music over airTunes while anything is being downloaded at ~700KB/s, fully utilizing the capacity of my internet connection, the music temporarily stops - the little scrubber thing actually continues to move, but no music can be heard. As soon as I pause the download, the music continues. It will also stop again when I resume the download.
I can't quite believe that the data throughput should be above what my wireless 802.11g network can handle. This also didn't seem to be a problem "pre-iTunes 8".

Aug 6, 2010...now I don't have the same functionality with iTunes. Basically, I can't use iTunes at all anymore as the interface for my music and videos. Once the external drive is mounted, I can navigate through it and play individual songs, but I can't use iTunes to do that. All my previous Playlists show up down the left side of iTunes, but there isn't any music in them.
I downloaded 2 songs yesterday, made a Playlist out of them, and because the path in the Advanced tab of the iTunes Preferences is correct, it automatically added the songs to the external hard drive. I synced my iPod and it was completely erased except for the 2 new songs. Is there a way to use iTunes to navigate my music like I used to when I stored the information on the internal hard drive but keep the information on the external drive? I have a Mac running Snow Leopard and the latest version of iTunes.

Apr 12, 2009i have a 1.5 Mbps AT&T DSL connection, and multiple speed tests show a download speed of 1.2 Mbps (and 200 Kbps upload). when i download files, such as software updates from Apple, various podcasts, and even Silverlight from Microshaft, the speed is always between 140 - 160 Kbps. i contacted AT&T, and the rep said it was because of buffering by the servers i was receiving the files from. is this a reasonable explanation? is this an accurate use of the term "buffering"?
