ITunes For Mac :: Script To Find AND Repair Missing Links

Aug 28, 2014

I'm looking for a script that both finds the "missing tracks" in my iTunes media music folder for songs that iTunes itself shows as missing with "!" AND also repairs them. I know there's a dougscript for finding the tracks that are missing but from the explanation I can't see that it fixes them. I want something that can do batches of a couple hundred tracks rather than one by one, when iTunes offers to locate and then use location to find other tracks, it only looks in that specific artist's album folder.

iMac

ITunes :: Find All Missing Files?

May 4, 2012

I have iTunes 10.6.1 running on MacOS 10.7.3 Because I was running out of harddrive space on my iMac (500GB), I had to move something off to my TimeCapsule.  So I dragged my iTunes folder into the Data folder in the Time Capsule.  (Time Capsule would not let me create any folders in the root directory so I had to use Data folder even though I thought that Data folder was reserved for the Time Machine.) My problem is that all my music files have an ! (meaning that iTunes can't locate the original file).

Current settings: iTunes Media folder location:  /Volumes/Data/iTunes/iTunes Mediaunchecked "keep iTunes Media folder organized" I also tried moving the music folder with its many sub-folders to different parts of the Time Capsule. So now I can click on each song and tell the iTunes where to locate it.  It will ask me whether I want to locate all the rest, to which I always answer "yes".  But then it would tell me after half a minute that it can't locate any of the files.

Info:
iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3), iTunes 10.6.1

ITunes For Mac :: How To Find All Missing Songs Which Are In Library

Aug 21, 2014

iTunes keeps telling me it can't find around 150 songs and I have to manually point it to each folder - it offers to use location to find other missing tracks but that only works for songs in the same album folder, not other artists/albums. Is there something I can do to find all songs at once?

Applications :: Recover Missing Links From Illustrator File?

Jul 31, 2010

I made something in Illustrator, neglected to embed the link using the Links panel, and then deleted the link. Everything shows up fine in Acrobat and the Illustrator file is huge, indicative that the links are actually in the Illustrator file. I can place it into a new Illustrator document and everything shows up just fine, but I can't edit it. How do I extract the links from this Illustrator file and/or relink them to the one that is in the .ai itself?

Mac Pro :: To Find Service Repair Manual

May 27, 2006

I have tried to find a service repair manual on the web for the MacBook Pro, but to no avail.

Where can I find this document; IBM's website has all these docs, but to my knowledge apple does not.

Second, do any of you know of an outlet repair person that sells MacBook Pro service parts (i.e. for those of us without warranty....)

Applications :: How To Find Hard Drive Repair / Recovery / Maintenance Software?

Jun 14, 2010

I recently discovered this old OLD software that was supposedly leaps beyond it's competitors called spinrite. [URL]

It's probably old news for anyone who did any research on finding this type of software but this is my first time researching the matter and coming across this.

The problem is that this software is PC only it seems. I was wondering if there is an equivalent software that could do just the same for my Mac.

Or can this software already run on Mac considering that Mac is now intel based and can run Windows in bootcamp?

The website says that I could remove my HD and place it into a PC system, but I don't have a PC system so that's not an option for me.

Applications :: Won't Find Features That Are Missing In IMail

Nov 13, 2010

I switched to a MacBook Pro 3 months ago from using WXP with Outlook 2003.

I need to be able to hold my outgoing mail rather then sending it immediately. In Outlook I could set it to stay in the outbox until I was ready to send it.

I'd also like to have the "capitalize the first word of each sentence" feature that Word edit would do in Outlook.

I am presuming neither of these features are in iMail so my question is: Do I need to buy Outlook for Mac or Office for Mac to get these 2 features?

Seriously, it is a big problem and I didn't expect this from a 5 month old MBP. Has this happened to anyone? Is there a way to recover? I was used to this sort on Windows and that was completely understandable on that platform. Please tell me Mac is not same as PC only nicer box.

Applications :: ITunes Cannot Find Music Anymore (Mass Find Option)

Jan 30, 2009

Yesterday, I had to re-format my external hard drive so that it could be "recordable" within Pro Tools, which wasn't a major issue, I just had to move everything from my Lacie drive to another drive, do the format, and then throw it all back on. It took a little while but this also included moving my nearly 60gb itunes library. Now that it is on the newly formatted hard drive, itunes doesn't seem to be able to find the majority of the songs any more. I've tried changing the music folder and a few other things, and there is no way I'm going through and doing the "cant find music - click here to find it" palava. Is anyone aware of a way that you can "mass find" all of the music in any way other than starting the library again and adding all the music (I don't really want to lose all of my play counts and ratings if possible!)

OS X :: Time Machine Backups Missing / Unable To Find Backups

Sep 30, 2008

My Time Machine has been making the usual regular backups for a few months onto my Time Capsule. I just found that all the backups prior to about a week ago have vanished. It's not a disaster (I think) as I assume that the current backups reflect what's on my iMac (I haven't had to delete files from it yet).

Where did they go? Why did they go?

A possible connection: My TC is 500GB; my iMac 1TB. I recently put extra files for temporary use onto the iMac hard drive - Time Machine said (in effect) 'that's too much, try removing certain folders from the backup'. I excluded said folder and things seemed okay, but it would be at around the time I did that that my old backups have gone.

MacBook Pro :: Sending In For Repair Vs Local Repair?

Oct 9, 2009

My MBP recently had a bunch of problems with the logic board and speakers. I brought it into the Apple Store (on Monday) and they gave me the option of them sending it into a repair center, or them repairing it locally in store. I requested that they sent out just because I was curious to see how long it would take. To my surprise, my MBP arrived, fixed and as good as new on my doorstep today. That's amazingly fast for sending it out to a offsite repair center. The repair center is in Philadelphia. I live in Maine. You do the math. When I've had things repaired locally in the Apple Store it's taken weeks to repair instead of days because they need to order the parts.

Anyways, the point of this thread was to suggest to people that they choose the offsite repair option. It's amazingly fast, and it saved me a trip to the Apple Store (they shipped my MBP directly to my house).

OS X :: ITunes Missing Track Info?

Oct 20, 2010

I have been using iTunes with PC for about 5 years or more and never really had any problems ripping my CD collection, even when I switched at one point to using dbpowerAMP and then importing into itunes manually. I'm using itunes to rip again now.

Now I have my first mac (mac mini 2010). I am starting to import parts of my CD collection that I never had room for on my old notebook PC.

So before I went to bed last night I tried to rip and import 3 CDs using itunes exclusively now to do the ripping because I have come to the realization that itunes plus AAC is good enough for my ears and especially my equipment (ipod classic 160gb & Senn PX-100's). Now these 3 CDs I know for a fact the iTunes Store sells and definitely has the artwork and track info for.

Well, the first 2 CDs loaded artwork and track info fine after I remembered to check in the settings about the artwork anyway..

Then comes the 3rd and newest CD I tried, Eagles OF Death Metal's "Heart On". I stick it in the mac mini's slot *giggles* and then the iTunes pane at the top center of the screen keeps scrolling and saying something like "searching for grace-note whatever".. Then after about 2 or 3 minutes of that it just gives up and acts like it doesn't know the CD and lists the songs as "track 1, track 2" etc..

Now this CD is immaculate. It has been ripped before on my PC with no problem. I double checked to make sure the iTunes store sells it because in the past I've had to download my own artwork if it's something they don't sell in their store.

So I'm at a loss here I don't want to have to enter all this info manually as I have about 500 CDs to rip and only being on number 3 I didn't know if it was just this one being trouble, or what to expect how many are going to do this?

Software :: Missing ITunes Mp3 Files

Apr 28, 2010

Recently my iMac power source died & after figuring that it wasn't worth my while replacing it (upgrading the machine was a better option) I removed the hard drive with the intention of retrieving all my iTunes mp3 files (over 160 gb worth). Upon trying to locate them I found that the iTunes music folder was now completely empty, & the hard drive was only holding 98 gb worth of data. A search of the net has thrown up all sorts of information pertaining to some sort of spyware built into iTunes that 'manages' your music. However, it sounds as much like speculation as fact so I thought I'd pose the question over here before I start ripping my CDs again, which is something I really want to avoid doing.

ITunes :: How To Remove All Missing Content

Apr 8, 2012

I was temporarily using my MAcBook Air as the family media server while our iMac was being repaired. To do so, I plugged in the external drive that is home to all our music, movies and tv shows. Now that the iMac is fixed, I set it back up as the server, plugging the iTunes drive into it and resetting AppleTV to work with it. Now to my question: All the content that had been on the iTunes external drive is now listed, but missing in iTunes. Obviously. Short of having to delete every file one at a time, is there any way to remove everything that is "missing" all at once? I'd like to only keep a few songs on my laptop, and keep the lists of what I have very tidy, hence the need to delete everything iTunes can't find.
