Is it possible to replace a movie that has been removed from the movie part of iTunes by using TimeMachine as I had backed up my Mac just before the loss?

I've just accidentally deleted the Hotmail mailbox from Mail. Mac says it's removed 'permanently' unless Time Machine is on, which is not. Does anyone know any other way I can add Hotmail to Mail again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an external disk drive, with which I can easily replace hard disks. Normally, I use my 2TB disk for TM backups but I had to remove it temporarily from my disk drive. After I have reinserted it (everything was fine) and mounted it, TM did not recognize the old backup bundle and failed to backup, because there is not enough disk space available to create a new backup bundle.
When I look at the root directory of my backup volume, I recognize that Finder has lost the sparse bundle bit and my backup is shown as normal directory.
How can resolve that without erasing my disk and creation of a new backup??
I have all my movies backed up on my time capsule and want to free up space on my computer. How do I delete movies and still be able to stream the movies from the time capsule to apple tv.

I love AirPlay. I use it on my iPod Touch the moment I get home to play music to my speakers connected via AirPort Express. I use it on my iPad too when i'm watching a movie..
Even on my MBP when listening to music from iTunes. But Movies in iTunes don't work. The AirPlay icon in a movie playing in iTunes only shows "computer" and doesn't show any other options.
I just updated my iTunes but it appears it deleted my library. This sucks because I have spent HOURS upon HOURS sorting it, renaming crooked song titles, finding covers and all that stuff. I used time machine to back up my computer like 5 days ago, but I can't figure out how to use it. I wish I could just select that given day (when I made my last backup) and make it turn everything back to what it was back then.How do I do this exactly? I don't care at all if I have to go back to the old iTunes (obviously they will fix this eventually!) - I just want it to look like it did a few days ago.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a new mac user (total convert--am on my second iMac in a month and am about to buy a macbook), and am having trouble with my itunes service. My first 24" iMac developed a clicking HDD, so I was lucky enough to be able to bring it back to the shop for a replacement iMac. I made a time machine backup of the first Mac and copied directly to the second one (which was flawless....how come I haven't been using macs prior to now? I've lost dozens of backups on PC). The only issue I've had is with iTunes--I keep getting an error that the iTunes library is newer than the version of iTunes on the computer. Is there anyway to fix this without losing my entire library of songs? I did make up a physical copy of the iTunes folder on my first Mac, just in case, so I assume that I could delete iTunes and reinstall a fresh copy, update it, and then copy the iTunes folder over to the new version. But this is a Windows approach to the issue and there is probably a simpler way of fixing this. Alternately, I could do the same but sync my iPod and copy everything to my library that way.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter restoring my Mac disk to a single volume, and deleting the BootCamp Assistant, I am now having a couple of issues, possibly more still to be found. I initially partitioned my HD to 5GB, but never went on to install Windows. After a while of leaving my HD partitioned, I choose to de-partition it. To do so I opened BootCamp Assistant by double clicking it. Clicked to restore the startup disk to a single volume, followed this up by inputting my admin info (name/password), then my Mac restarted. Last night this successfully removed the partition (hopefully no steps were left out of my description). I then downloaded a Firmware EFI Update that was supposed to be for those who've recently removed Boot Camp.
I figured this whole process would leave me as if I never did the whole partition thing, but now startup has become quite a long process. It was always rather fast. At startup, I now get to see a blank white screen for too long before I see the grey Apple logo and Mac OSX start up. Besides that, I believe my battery life might now be going down faster than before. I've been searching for answers on this forum and [URL] and have found similar complaints regarding startup times, but no definite answer to my problem. Besides the slow startup time and what might be seeming as a shorter battery (although I really haven't clocked before and after), everything else seems to be running fine.
Whenever I go into iTunes I get a message that there is a download that still needs to download. this is from an album I purchased over a year ago. For some reason the album downloaded but it is still sitting in the download que. So everytime I open iTunes it ask for my password in order to complete the download. How can I just delete the thing? When I right click and select delete from the drop down menu it goes away until I close iTunes and open it back up again. When I actual try to download the purchase I get the following message:

how to downgrade from iTunes 10 to iTunes 9.2.1 using Time Machine. I've researched but I'm still unsure if I'm supposed to be retrieving and/or trashing files or not (I've never restored anything with Time Machine before). If I could do it without having to re-create the library and playlists; that's be great.

I back up to a time capsule. I got a message saying that the last backup failed due to lack of space. It used to auto-delete old backups to make space for new ones. I entered time machine preferences and didn't see an option for "delete old backups to make space for new". I'm running the latest version of Lion with the latest update for Time Capsule installed.

Over the last year, when wanted to deleted something from iTunes, especially podcasts - I often by accident clicked the "keep files" option when asking about moving the files to the trash...
Now, I assume that these files are still clogging my HD - so - is there a way to delete these "lost" files automatically?
Upgrading to iTunes 10.6 on my mac removed all music from my iTunes library. I have managed to recover the music but all my playlists have gone. Is there any way to recover them (other than painfully recreating them from backups) ?

Lately I've been noticing that my devices are still registering as being plugged in, even after removing them. Their icons never disappear after removing devices (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV 1st gen). I can click the eject button and the icon disappears, but thats just a workaround.

can't open the program time machine located in the folder /applications/time machine anymore, message says program ain't working for unknown reaason, but I still can open time machine in the menu bar. any clues what the trouble might be? and/or is there any way to reinstall time machine only on os x 10.7.3?

A day ago, for an unknown reason, hundreds of my songs in my iTunes library lost their link location. I painstakingly got about 10% through refinding the location to each song but I got to thinking. Is there a way through Time Machine to just restore my library the way it was 2 days ago? Are there specific files I can copy over?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI added a few new albums to different artist folders, and instead of adding each folder to the library individually [using "Add to Library" from the File menu], I decided to take a shortcut and add my entire Music folder to the Library.
Now, a load of stuff is missing, and I have a massive collection, so I don't know exactly what's there and exactly what has gone. Searching using Finder confirms that the files are completely gone from my hard drive.

The only thing that seems to work properly is Mail (I can have it in focus, enter Time Machine, and use the Mail interface to restore e-mail).

I'm having a problem with time machine repeatedly backing up my /~/Music/iTunes directory. Everytime I plug in my drive, I get a 192Gb backup which will loop continuously. I've confirmed that it's this directory using BackupLoupe and have reset time machine, repaired the disk with no errors, completely reformatted my time machine disk, and continue to have these issues. Console shows no real issue, backupd process simply requests a 192Gb backup and proceeds with it. While I cannot be sure, this appears to have started sometime after the 10.6.4 update.

Most of my hard drive is taken up with music files. I want to know how I can move my library to my external drive (maybe just doing time machine will do this?) but keep some file on my computer so I can play them without the external drive. What's the best route? I know that consolidating my library to another drive will do half of what I want, but what about keeping some songs on my computer- like 50 GB worth (but I will also want these songs on the external drive so that they are backed up!)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've set up time machine on my new mac, it all seemed to be working well. I have a WD external hard drive 500GB (my estimated backup size is about 50GB). I have all my media on another WD hard drive, this is not in scope for back up. I run time machine and it all goes well. Just after a few weeks I noticed that some of my TV shows were missing from iTunes, when I actually check the files on the external hard drive they are missing, they are also not in the trash. I wasn't sure what was causing this but this happened a few times. Eventually I turned off time machine and now I don't have the issue anymore.
