View 4 RepliesI just got a new MacBook Pro and, well, the problem with itunes is simple :As soon as I open an mp3 file to listen to it, it immediately and automatically adds it to the library. How to solve this ?Normally, I guess, we should click on "add to library" to add files...My iTunes version is 8.1 and am running mac OS X Leopard 10.5.7

I have an .m3u file that I want to listen to. It say’s I need to use iTunes to hear it, but there seems to be no way to import or listen to anything on iTunes that does not come through it’s server. I’ve tried everything I could think of, without success. I can’t find a way to play it with QuickTime either. I’m stuck. It seems odd that I can’t listen to this snippet.

View 11 Replies View RelatedThe program will not quit. When I force quit iTunes or quit it normally, it relaunches almost immediately. I can not shut down my MacBook properly because the program is running and cannot be quit. Anytime I shut down my computer, I have to force it by holding down the power key and iTunes once again comes up on its own after the computer is turned on. It is so frustrating! I hoped that installing the newest version, 10.6.1 would solve the problem but it hasn't. To even install the program, iTunes had to be quit so I had to force shut down my computer, and hurry and move the version of iTunes I had to the trash as soon as I turned the computer back on before the program opened on its own.Still no luck..open iTunes in safe mode but I can't open iTunes that way because I can't even close it before I would be able to open it!

Hopefully someone will have the answer as I have searched high and low on this one. I have moved ALL my iTunes content (music, videos etc) to the Shared Music folder on my new WD MyBook World Edition 2 (just in case that's relevant info) and everytime my Mac attempts to load iTunes I have to repeatedly direct it to the library.xml file in the Shared Music folder.Surely there's a proper solution for this? Anyone else out there had this experience and has figured it out.I've noticed that it does this only the first time I open iTunes up, any subsequent bootup within a session is fine, but any restart of my Macbook Pro and I have to repeat this.
