ITunes :: Freezing Frequently - How To Create New Library

My iTunes freezes a lot since last December and it's really annoying and frustrating when it happens now. I get the whole beach ball thingy and sometimes need to Force Quit applications and still sometimes that doesn't seem to alleviate the problem. So a friend suggested to create a whole new iTunes library and see if I get the same issues of freezing on this newly created library. I can't even watch movies as it gives slight pauses when watching movies off iTunes. How to create a new Library.

My Macbook Pro has been freezing frequently for about 30-45 seconds at a time. The screen will freeze, sound will stop, but the color wheel will spin and i can move it around with the trackpad. I don't know what is causing this/any possible fixes to my problem. I purchased the macbook pro in mid 2009 and it has OS X lion 10.7.3 installed on it.

I have accumulated a large amount of Christmas music in my iTunes library and am running out of space on my hard drive. I would like to create a library on an external hard drive that contains only my Christmas music and delete it from my computer. I have successfully created a library that i named "iTunes - Christmas". On this HD there were 64 albums that had nothing to do with Christmas music.
My question is, how do I get my 758 pieceses Christmas music from my MacBook Pro to my iTunes Library on my external HD, freeing up space on my computer?

I have a brand new MBP. I have a 1tb external drive with 250gb's of music. I have it attached to my mac via USB. I CANNOT GET ITUNES TO CREATE A NEW LIBRARY ON THE EXTERNAL DRIVE. I CANNOT DRAG AND DROP OR ADD FILE/FOLDER.
But get this, I hook it up to my old Dell and I can do whatever I want. I am friggin pissed that I spent all this money on Mac equip and can't get it going. You may have seen my other post where I posed my issue of: 1tb ethernet drive hooked to airport extreme. Above mentioned 1tb hooked up to back of it via usb. I am completely unable to copy, move, or add files using my mac. But guess what. my pc handles it easily and quickly.

Since updating to SL itunes has been crashing unexpectedly. I updated about a week ago and already itunes has crashed 4 times. Just tonight it has crashed once while syncing to my ipod touch and once when attempting to access itunes store. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue. My system is a 1st gen unibody pro 2.8 GHz 15" 4 Gb RAM. I was also playing music while the last two crashes happened.

Since the upgrade to 11.2.2, radio in iTunes seems to be interrupted frequently...maybe every thirty minutes or less and it's very annoying. It seems that iTume is back to the first release when the radio streaming interrupted whenever the ad would air.

Ive copied my current iphoto library to an external hardrive because my hard disc is full. Now I want to creat a new library on my mac, but by pressing and holding either the alt or options tab,then clicking on iphoto does not give the option, only quit, remove from dock, show in finder etc.

We have ordered and installed FCP X .....except on 2 machines we are unable to create new libraries. When I click on File, it only gives us options to create a New Project or New Event.

i copied the iphoto library from my computer to an external Hard Drive, and deleted the one on my computer, the external HD has been stolen, but in iphoto there still apear photos, but when i click on them it doest show the big image, only a expression mark (!) in a circle.
1) How can i create a new iphoto library on my computer?
2)Can i recover my photos with time machine?
In another computer i start it and it apears a folder with a question mark, what should i do?

i recently got a new LaCie external hard drive in order to store photos from iphoto to free up space on my hd. However after researching how to do this i used the alt/option key when opening iphoto in order to create a new library, once i did this i directed the new library to my external hard drive. Now when i open iphoto there are no images and if i open my external hard drive to the new library it just opens iphoto and no images show up! What do i do? is there any way i can reverse the process?? Why is there nothing in my new eh library?

As the main title says I am trying to find out why Itunes adds a folder for each new song that I add to Itunes it very nice if you have a few albums but when you intend to add a few thousand songs it could becoming a House Keeping problem.

My search skills are seriously lacking here, as I cant find a guide to do what I want.I currently have a windows 7 pc and an iphone 3g plus ipod touch which sync via the windows 7 pc.I have a 27" imac arriving on tuesday and want to transfer the itunes library from the windows machine to the new imac.What is the easiest way to achieve this?

Hopefully someone will have the answer as I have searched high and low on this one. I have moved ALL my iTunes content (music, videos etc) to the Shared Music folder on my new WD MyBook World Edition 2 (just in case that's relevant info) and everytime my Mac attempts to load iTunes I have to repeatedly direct it to the library.xml file in the Shared Music folder.Surely there's a proper solution for this? Anyone else out there had this experience and has figured it out.I've noticed that it does this only the first time I open iTunes up, any subsequent bootup within a session is fine, but any restart of my Macbook Pro and I have to repeat this.

iTunes keeps freezing. It does not take down anything else with it. This happens eventually whenever it is running and force quit will not make it quit.

Also, is it possible to share an iTunes library between my MBA and my PC so I can sync my iPad and iPhone without having to create a new library? The library file is currently on the NAS and just wanted to use the same one. Would it allow me to sync my iPhone with the PC and the iPad with the MBA using the same library on the NAS? I know this is more of an iTunes question, but figured I would post it here instead of starting another thread.

I have new Ipod Nano. ITunes freezes 2 seconds into the sync. Only trying to load 2 playlist with a total of 80 songs. I have restored the ipod and still no luck.

A few days ago, my itunes began freezing shortly after startup. It would take forever to get through the "checking library" phase and then once it fully opened it would freeze. This may coincide with it beginning to download some itunes-u content in qeue, but i can't keep it running long enough to get into the store to cancel the downloads, if that's what it is. updating the software but everytime i try it says "software is up to date", even though it was just told me that one is available. I've tried removing and reinstalling and have got nowhere. I may have actually made it angrier. I have over 109 days of music that I can't listen to and and an iphone I can't add/remove files from.

I have always been able to solve any issues with a search and have not been this stumped before. So the problem iTunes (10.6.3) has started freezing every time I open it, it happens after about 10sec and also freezes the finder and any other apps that are open I regain control for 1 or 2 sec every 15 - 30 sec during this window I can quickly quit iTunes and then every thing unfreezes, if I start a song playing as soon as I open iTunes it will continue playing throughout the freeze. System is iMac i7 2.8 21.5 inch Mid 2011 OSX Lion 10.7.4What I have tried - All apple updates installed and up to date - Shutdown - Restart - reopen (Same result)- Repair disk permissions Restart (Same result)- Delete all iTunes .plist files (Same result)- Deleted iTunes Library Genius.itdb (Same result)- Deleted iTunes Music Library.xml (Same Result)- Create new user with empty Library (Same result)- Start iTunes in Safe mode Option and Command keys (Same result)- Deleted all plugins (Same result)- Deleted iTunes and installed 10.5.3 (Same result) - Deleted iTunes and reinstall (Same result)- Booted from Recover HD and ran repair disk and permissions (Same result) - Boot up in Safe mode Hold Shift key THIS WORKS NO FREEZE -Used time machine and restored whole system to 2 weeks earlier (Same result)-Re installed OS X Lion from Recovery HD (Same result) So basically the only thing that has worked is Safe Boot/Mode but this is not really a solution.

I've been having a terrible issue for the past serveral months. I have a MacBookPro and I do bunch of app updates every week or buy apps and music. Howerver, it seems almost everytime I download apps, it gets stuck in the "Downloads" section. It starts downloading than just sits there stalled 1/2 way. I'll have to maybe pause the download and re-activate 4-10times before it goes all the way through. I have no Idea how to fix this. I thought maybe it was the wireless so I plugg directly into the switch and still same issue.
Anyone have thoughts on what I can do to reslove this?

Is anyone else having the problem with iTunes 8 where your iMac freezes completely (only the mouse will move but you can't click anything)? I started having this problem after upgrading to 10.5.5 and iTunes 8.0.1.

Every time I pause something in iTunes ( usually a longer file, radio show, podcast ) theres this horrendous freeze that happens...
This started after I updated to 8.1.1

Yesterday, iTunes installed an update to 10.6.3, and since then freezes less than a minute after launch. The beachball just spins and iTunes is completely unresponsive. It is usually downloading a new podcast at the time, but that is simply because that's the first thing iTunes does if I'm not syncing.
I tried restarting. I tried restarting in Safe Mode. I tried restarting without anything connected to any ports. I tried uninstalling iTunes, restarting, installing a new download from apple website, and restarting again.
I'm not sure what to do next..Everything was working fine up the the moment the upgrade finished.
I'm running a fairly new Macbook Air running OSX 10.7.4 with all software updated.

Recently, iTunes has been freezing almost immediately after launching, irrespective of other applications running. The problem persists even in Safe Mode, and I have to Force Quit the application each time. Some times it runs fine for one song, but usually freezes immediately (not responding with spinning pinwheel).

I have a new 13" MBP and recently a problem arose and it is annoying the hell out of me. Pretty often(i'd say once every 30 minutes of web browsing)while doing simple web browing, everything will lock up and I will get the beachball for a solid minute. If iTunes is open and playing when this is going to happen, the music pauses like 3 seconds before everything else freezes. Has anyone ever seen this, and if so do you have a solution?

Mine is only a month old after being replaced due to a fault and now after the IOS 5.1 update it freezes when I try to unlock it and it has also frozen at the end of a call meaning I couldn't finish the call. I had to hold both buttons to reset it which doesn't always fix the freeze the first time.Also I have noticed that all my calendar notifications on the dashboard have gone too. No matter what I do with the notifications in the settings the calendar won't appear.
