My CD/DVD Drawer won't stay closedafter I insert a CD or DVD. It goes infor a couple of seconds, then comesback out.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust today, my TSST DVD writer tray will not stay closed during or after booting my G5. The "Eject" key will operate it normally, but a few seconds after I close it the tray will open again... and stay open. Same thing happens if I manually close it. No disc is in the tray. This problem is 100% repeatable. I reset the PRAM in my G5. I have "Patchburn v 4.0.5" software for the TSST CDDVDW SH-S222L installed, and I re-installed it but with no effect on the problem.

I haz a serial problem, but I'll spare you the plea for sympathy and leave that to my psych. A less serial problem is my 2.4ghz AluMacBook. It's super great funtime, number one! The problem is when I put it in my laptop bag, the lid pops back open! This means pencils or cd's could get inside of the clamshell and damage it! I don't like to have my properties damaged so I'm wondering if there's a way I could re-tension the spring or adjust something soez that it stays shut. No, I'm not complaining about a weak spring, as with the MacBook Pros, I'm complaining about maybe a spastic spring that just can't be subdued. Is there any chance the magnets that hold it shut are weak?

I dropped my Unibody Macbook off at the authorized repair shop (no Apple stores around Canada). They felt that the issue should be fixed but they needed apples go ahead, so they phoned Apple about it and they denied the claim. Next, the head technician at the shop didn't agree with their verdict so he sent an email to Apple with a video of the problem attached. They replied with saying that it was normal and they would offer me a sleeve for free. I wanted it fixed so I took it a step further. I called 1-800-my-apple and spoke with their tech support. She felt it should be fixed to so she let me speak with her supervisor. He also felt that it wasn't within normal spec, so he spoke with his manager (Highest level of tech support). The manager said no, all they could do for me is offer a free sleeve for it. The supervisor eventually transferred me to customer relations, where I spoke to gentlemen. I explained the problem to him and then he asked for the number of the repair shop. He spoke with the Manager of the shop and the repair was authorized.
If you connect say a 13inch macbook to a 19inch monitor using the closed clamshell mode, will the picture quality on the monitor be like a stretched out version of the 13inch screen? I.e. poor, or does the macbook just act like a desktop computer and allow high quality viewing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden when I pause iTunes on my iMac it will unexpectedly start playing again after a few minutes. Can't seem to find a way to stop this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI looked at the size of my library - huge! It's huge becuase I ripped all my CD's to iTunes as aiff to maintain quality a while back, but now I figured it was time to convert to Apple Lossless. I went to the iTunes music folder, filtered by bitrate to select out all the 1411 Kb aiff files, selected all of them, and right clicked to convert to Apple Lossless. The process went smoothly enough, but when I checked, the conversion had stripped all the playlist assignments for every tune. I had a bunch of empty playlists, and a huge list in "recent imports", all piled in to this single huge file. I shouldn't have to go back and re-assign every tune to it's previous playlists just because I wanted to convert format. There must be a workaround that leaves them with the playlist designations before they were converted.

View 2 Replies View RelatedCheck this out. Minimize iTunes using the green button to get the mini-player. Then plug in your iPhone. iTunes 8.1.1 no longer expands and pops to the front of your screen! That's really cool! I noticed this in 8.1.1, but it could have been introduced in 8.1, I don't know.

My iTunes media folder location is set to my iTunes media folder, which is stored on my external hard drive connected to my network via aiport extreme router. The problem is everytime I turn my mac off and back on my iTunes reverts the location back to my itunes media folder on my mac and I have to manually set it back to my itunes media folder on my external hard drive. Why does it keep changing?

If I change a folder name, while iTunes is working it's okay, it keeps playing the file just fine, but when I close iTunes and re-open it, it forgets the file path and make me find the path manually, then appears to be all right, but why it forgets the path when I close it?
I mean, even if I change the folder name (path) of the song that is actually playing, nothing happens and keep playing all the songs just fine, but if I close forgets all changes...
Every time I search for a song in iTunes, then close the search by hitting the "x" in the search bar, iTunes returns me to the top of my iTunes library (the A's), instead of staying on the song I've searched for and selected. It's incredibly annoying, and has been happening to my iTunes for a few years (but didn't in early versions of the software). Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a bug, or just a bad design? If so, is there a way to stop it?

I have an 13" MBP that I ordered new in April, 2012. It is running Lion. I have an external monitor that is capable of 1440x900 resolution. I have an external keyboard and trackpad hooked up, and I like to close my MBP up and stick it in a BookArc. I want to be able to have the internal display disabled and to have the MBP only allow me to put windows on the external display, so long as the lid is closed. I also want to be sure that I am taking advantage of the resolutions available on my external monitor, which are higher than those supported by the internal display (specifically 1440x900).
This doesn't seem to work because I either have to allow the MBP to continue to draw my desktop across both screens (internal and external), OR use the "mirror displays" mode, which restricts my resolution of my external monitor. This means I either forgoe the additional resolution benefits of my external monitor, or I end up with windows that fall off-the-cliff, so to speak, because they are drawn in the portion of the desktop that would be shown on my internal display (which is closed).
I've read the community support pages on using the MBP with an external monitor, most relevantly, this page. It simply recommends using the "mirror displays" option. However, this option, as I mentioned above, doesn't allow me to make use of the additional resolution, and my external display looks bad. how to keep the 13" MBP in closed clamshell position, with the internal display disabled, and use my external monitor at resolutions higher than those allowed by the 13" MBP but which are available to my external monitor when not in "mirror displays" mode?

If i set my displays to sleep in 1 minute (say, if I leave it on overnight, and want it to sleep pretty quickly), they both come back to life after a few minutes. Since they're bright, they absolutely illuminate the room and the S/O isn't too happy with me.
I have an Alu iMac 24", Dell 24", bluetooth mouse, external USB drive, USB keyboard. I tried switching off the bluetooth mouse, and it was no better.
So i have a Powermac G5 1.6ghz. I try to turn it on, but all I get are fans starting to "whirr" up. The blue light stays lit as long as I hold it in.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI put my iMac to sleep before I go to bed and it usually stays in that state until I get up. Lately something is waking it routinely during the night. I have attempted to fix this by following the suggestions in Mac Help but I still can't get to the bottom of it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWith OSX 10.6.4 my 2.66 GHz iMac will not stay asleep. It will wake up even though the Wake for Network Access box is NOT checked in System Preferences. Why is this? This happens every night. It is becoming very frustrating.
For some reason (which I hope someone knows why) my computer started to not stay sleeping. I would go to the apple menu, select sleep, the screen goes dark but then a few seconds later the screen comes back on. I haven't changed any preferences so not sure why it's doing this.
When using screen saver it stays.

Lion makes the sleep process take a while. But after a short time my Mac Pro wakes from sleep and even though I have it set up to go back to sleep after five minutes of inactivity it never goes back to sleep. This wasn't a problem with the first version of Lion.

While browsing the web I keep randomly getting messages that my computer isn't connected to the internet. Sometimes I can load a new page in another tab, but when I go back to the tab that wasn't working and refresh it still says I'm still not connected. It seems to go in and out pretty often. I don't have this problem on my pc laptop so I don't think its my DSL. It's happened randomly since I got the Air, but seems much more frequent (probably happened 15 times today).

The computer boots sometimes, othertimes not at all. When it does turn on it stays on for an unreliable ammount of time before shutting off.
ANybody ever take the case off and blow air over the inside to clear out dust?
My G5 tower is one of the early models. Today I turned it on. Immediately the drive bay fan was running at maximum speed. The Mac's temperature was cold as it had not been used for 12 hours. So the speeding fan could not have been due to the drive bay being overheated. The fan never slows down. Even after a restart it immediately spins at its maximum. Plus it stays at maximum speed all the time.
