ITunes :: 'Mark As Unwatched' Resets Play Counts
Jun 27, 2012
Whenever I try to mark videos as unwatched in iTunes, it also resets the play counts for those items. I'd like to mark them as unwatched so that I can see the blue dots on the Apple TV whenever I want to rewatch a series so that I can keep my place, but I also have playlists that depend on the play counts.

I have a new MBP that came with Snow Leopard and I use it mostly for internet and iTunes for videos. I've noticed that watching videos through Front Row does not update the last played and play counts in iTunes. They just show as partially watched with half a blue dot.
I'm wondering how many other people have this happening as well.Did your computer come with Snow Leopard? Did you upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard?

My iTunes library sidebar in TV is showing 1 unwatched TV show, when in fact I have no TV shows in the library - I delete them after I view them.
How do I reset the 1 to zero?

After some Google trawling, I can't seem to find any answers to this question, so here goes nothing:
The 'Artist' bar on the left of the iTunes 9 interface will jump back up to the top of its scrollbar every time you click on an artist in it, and often when I select an artist that requires any scrolling to get to it it immediately jumps to the top of the list and thinks I clicked on one of those artists.
This has basically crippled my music browsing, or at least made it insanely annoying, so a fix would be nice.
I've tried trashing all the preferences and rebooting, to no avail.

I'm not sure why, but I have the latest version of iTunes running on my machine [Windows XP] and whenever I turn my computer on and open iTunes that window pops up asking me if I want to import songs and start using iTunes yadda yadda.
And my settings get reset, meaning that my library isn't set to be consolidated, my equalizer isn't how i want it etc etc.

The red badges on top of the mail icon, as well as the oval dark grey badges next to mailboxes are only very rarely correct. For example, at this moment the "Flagged" mailbox has a badge with the number 4. Clicking on it reveals that there are actually only three mails in that mailbox, and that furthermore none is flagged. So it is doubly wrong. There are similar issues with the "recent" mailbox, and the Dock icon. It is very annoying to see an unread mail badge, and not being able to find any unread mails. I am mainly using IMAP mail; perhaps the problem does not occur with iCloud mail.
This problem first appeared in OSX Leopard(!) years ago, and I have seen it on at least six different computers, in all later versions of OSX, during many years. With every new version I am hoping that it is fixed, and with Yosemite once again I am disappointed. How hard can it be to count? Or is there perhaps something I can change to fix this problem once and for all?

I have an account in Mail.app that won't let me do anything to the e-mails coming into it. I can't delete e-mails, I can't mark them as read, and if I try to move an e-mail to another mailbox, it's copied, not moved.I've tried repairing disk permissions, and I've tried to remove the account and then adding it again ? but the problem persists. "Rebuild" in the Mailbox menu is inactive when this mailbox is selected, but works on my other accounts. The same account works fine on my iPhone; mails are getting marked as read and I can delete and move e-mails around. Same thing with webmail

My computer had barely any space on it, so I was deleting as many things as possible. By accident, I deleted my ITunes library (1898 songs)I didn't delete it from ITunes. I deleted it from applications, then ITunes drop down menu, then all these artists. After that, I emptied my trash. So I have nothing. Now I only have one song on my ITunes, which is the one I was listening to when my songs got deleted. But now, when I go on ITunes, it looks like I have all my songs, except there are small little exclamation points next to each song. When I click a song to play, the song cant be found.

I have downloaded a song and when I go to play it...it bounces off of the song and will not play. I have iTunes 10.6.1......Apple charged me for the song already. I went to Support but could not find a solution specific to my issue. I have downloaded over 2500 songs and this has not happened before. This song was one of nine other songs I downloaded that evening...all others came through successfully.

I like putting different background pictures on my various folders, but I cant get the Mac OS X HD background to stick. My user folder sticks around after logout, but the Mac OS X one reverts to what I have set as defaults.
I'm the only user (therefore administrator as well), so I don't see what the problem is.

Hopefully this goes here and not the "help" forum. I'm coming to you guys for help because I'm not use to solving Mac-related issues. I'm more of a PC guy usually.
My girlfriend's Macbook (older white one. Bought in 2008, but I believe it was refurbished. I think it's a 13" but I'm not positive) fell a few feet yesterday (it was closed, but hibernating), and I thought it was fine until later that night stuff kept crashing on her and it reset a couple of times. Then it refused to boot up. Finally it started beeping at her 3 times instead of starting up, so I knew it had to be a RAM issue. I figured maybe it got knocked loose.
So I took out the RAM and put it back in. No dice, so I tried it again. This time the Mac booted up like normal. I thought that was it.
Except now, every time she moves the Mac much at all (which is somewhat important, being a laptop and all) something apparently gets jostled and the computer resets. One of these times, it beeped at her three times again, but I was able to boot it back up without having to touch the RAM again.
Any ideas of what the issue or possible fix could be? She's running OS X. It's up and running fine now but I'm afraid to move it too much.

I've just booted my MacBook (Snow Leopard 10.6.3) and got a warning that my clock is set to a date before 2008 (it's Jan 1, 2001, 0:00) and that this may affect some applications. Moreover, OS X forgot my preferred wireless network (which makes me think it's not just the time server acting up). I've found out that other people had a similar problem, but I couldn't out the reason for this weird behavior. Did anyone here experience something similar?

After working with two external drives and trying to erase one through the disk utility tool my mac stopped working. I have snow leopard on the standard mac.
The erasing didn't work, after 3 hrs it was still "busy" so I restarted my mac. After the restart the desktop background had changed to the original one, the dock was back to its original place with all the original items in it. Non of the items I put there was in it.
A lot of my applications didn't work anymore and I had a separate partition with my documents, but that entire partition was erased, I thought at first. But when I looked for a folder through the go menu of the finder and typed /volumes/documents this still existed, it doesn't show however in the finder and except for one folder (parallels) everything on it is deleted.
After putting some things back where I had them and seeing if I could get back the documents partition I restarted my mac for something and when it was restarted everything had reset itself again! The background, the apps not working, the items in the dock, all the settings (spaces and so). Now every time I restart it resets and deletes everything again.
Is there a way to get everything back, especially everything from the document partition? Since my Msc thesis is on there, it is pretty important to get that data back.

I recently upgraded my system HDD to an SSD with a new install of OSX 10.6.4 and mimicked the settings I had on my previous set up to replicate it. however, when for example I was using iTunes to play music the screen saver would come on and a short time later the system would pause iTunes and goes into Sleep mode.
my previous install never did that so I'm not sure if its because of the SSD and it not being mechanical it doesnt recognize it accessing or seeking 'per se' because regardless of unchecking "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" it still does it. here is an image of energy saver settings; btw I had the system plugged into and still went into sleep mode when iTunes was playing and even other media formats such as Video in iTunes or VLC.

I transferred all my itunes library to an external hard drive.I had all my songs in itunes and then went to "preferences" and set itunes to look on my external hard drive for my itunes. Then I went to "library" and then "consolidate", and it moved all my library over to my external. I can verify that my songs are all there on my externalHowever, now, itunes won't play any songs of mine. I double click on the song in itunes and it just wont play. There's no error message, there's no exclamation point, it just won't play. Any idea what is goign on? Preferences still shows that my library is directing to the external

My copy of Safari keeps resetting every time I close it. I lose bookmarks, history and extensions. This started in Leopard. It keeps giving me the copy I get after a fresh install of Safari, with the default bookmark tabs, every time i open it.
I deleted Safari using AppCleaner, then I reinstalled Safari after downloading it from Apple, both before and after the upgrade to Snow Leopard, all the way to 10.6.4. I have fixed and repaired permissions. Completely baffled. Only extension I use is clicktoFlash. Happens even if no extension installed. Examined plist file, keeps defaulting to the copy on first install.
I find Firefox too slow and Chrome still needs work. I loved Safari until this started happening. Just want it to keep my bookmarks and tabs after each open.
