I want to load a second itunes library [just temporary] so I can edit some ID Tags. Is there a way I can load it without disturbing my existing one in play counts and what not?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new MBP that came with Snow Leopard and I use it mostly for internet and iTunes for videos. I've noticed that watching videos through Front Row does not update the last played and play counts in iTunes. They just show as partially watched with half a blue dot.
I'm wondering how many other people have this happening as well.Did your computer come with Snow Leopard? Did you upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard?
Whenever I try to mark videos as unwatched in iTunes, it also resets the play counts for those items. I'd like to mark them as unwatched so that I can see the blue dots on the Apple TV whenever I want to rewatch a series so that I can keep my place, but I also have playlists that depend on the play counts.

I dragged the artists into my iTunes music folder.
I was asked whether I wanted to replace existing folders... e.g we both had "Arctic Monkeys" folders.
I CLICKED REPACE ALL... What a mistake.
I'm very much into music and I have lots of songs, whereas my cousin only had a small library.
Now, my "Arctic Monkeys" folder only has a few songs in that she had, and i've lost loads from my library from many artists that both of us had.
One possible way I can think of is to open up the iPhoto package, copy all the files to a new location (e.g. external hard drive). Uncheck Copy Items to iPhoto, create a new iPhoto library, and import the images from the new location. However, I am afraid that all of the metadata (keywords, location), events, faces, etc will not get transferred to the new library.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have roughly a 35gb iTunes library saved to my external hard drive. Initially, I had the files on my internal, but copied the iTunes folder (like Apple's web site told me to do), and went into preferences and pointed the library to my external. After that, I deleted the files from my internal, and voila, everything was working perfectly.
However, I turned my computer off, and the next day plugged my external in, and opened iTunes, but there was no library, just the iTunes intro screen.
I have a Mac Mini connected to a Lacie external HD that houses all of my iTunes library. I've just bought a new iMac to replace the Mini and want to keep the iTunes library on the external, just point the new machine's iTunes to the existing library on the external.
How best to do that? I don't want to restore from TM because I want to start fresh from this Mac and there really isn't a lot to keep other than the iTunes (most of it is on the external). If I point to an existing location, I don't need to Consolidate, do I? Any risk of losing the library? Do I need to unlink the library on the existing Mac?
My old computer died and my most recent iPod stolen. I have a new computer and a new iPod but iTunes won't let me authorize the new computer to access my previous library. How to authorize a new computer when old computer died? The iTunes I have downloaded does not give me a deauthorize previous computers option nor does it give me an option to authorize the new computer. I would very much like to access my previous iTunes library.

i have a problem with i tunes, i'm trying to make a ring tone for my iphone from an existing file in my library. to do that i need to press "create an acc version" from the "advanced" tab amongst other procedures but the problem is that the aforementioned option is grey, meaning it can not be pressed, i have a similar problem where a simple thing as copy/paste can't be done on the computer because that to is grey and their fore i just cant press it.

I found the reason for this behaviour: those old podcasts are still present in my iTunes library xml file. I deleted this file and restarted iTunes. iTunes will create a brand new xml file from the original .itl file. However, the old non-existent podcasts are still present in the new xml file. So the error must be present in my .itl file.Â

I want to restore my iTunes library from the old computer since it took a long time to get all the playlists together. I moved over the old playlist files and of course all my music, but I cannot get the library to show. I had to move my iTunes library into that "automatically add to iTunes" folder to get it to show in iTunes, but I still can't get the playlists and stuff to come up. I did the thing where I hold down the option key while starting up and then choose the library, but nothing changes in iTunes. Safari takes AGES to load pages and play videos!!! It takes 40 seconds to load the page the first time Safari is open (quit and open Safari or open after Mac reboot or cold boot) and 20 seconds to reload pages afterwards. Frustrating!!!
Firefox takes about 2 seconds, Chrome takes one second and Opera is real time. Latest versions of all in Mac OS X 10.6.8.

As anyone found a way to create a video playing screen saver in Quartz Composer in Snow Leopard. These screen savers work fine in Leopard but crash System Preferences when you attempt to load them in Snow Leopard. They seem to work just fine within Quartz Composer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe red badges on top of the mail icon, as well as the oval dark grey badges next to mailboxes are only very rarely correct. For example, at this moment the "Flagged" mailbox has a badge with the number 4. Clicking on it reveals that there are actually only three mails in that mailbox, and that furthermore none is flagged. So it is doubly wrong. There are similar issues with the "recent" mailbox, and the Dock icon. It is very annoying to see an unread mail badge, and not being able to find any unread mails. I am mainly using IMAP mail; perhaps the problem does not occur with iCloud mail.Â
This problem first appeared in OSX Leopard(!) years ago, and I have seen it on at least six different computers, in all later versions of OSX, during many years. With every new version I am hoping that it is fixed, and with Yosemite once again I am disappointed. How hard can it be to count? Or is there perhaps something I can change to fix this problem once and for all?
