View 9 Replies View RelatedOn pressing the power button on the back of my brand new iMac i5 (Bought in store on Nov 21st), the white screen appears after 5-7 seconds and then the boot time is incredibly fast since I have an SSD installed. But I'm disturbed now with the fact that the white screen takes such a long time and I was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed iStat 2 days ago and just yesterday I noticed that my HD space slowly decreases; not by a lot. For example, yesterday it said that I had used only 12.06 GB of space. A little later it said 12.07 GB and then 12.08 or 12.09 (I don't remember which one). Today it started in the low 13's and then it went to 13.07 and then 13.09. Currently, it's at 13.17 GB used.

i do have a lot of photos on the computer (they're in a folder and also in iphoto) and some videos, but the videos from my video camera are all stored on my external drive.
This problem started after a power surge a few weeks ago. The surge protector fried, but seemed to save the computer in the process. Symptoms are:If the Mac goes to sleep, the fans eventually go in hyperspeed mode and it's impossible to wake.Boot time is over 6 minutes. 1.5 minutes on the gray Apple, then 5 minutes on blue screen.In verbose mode, I get some IOKitWaitQuiet error just before the blue screenI repaired permissions, checked the disk with Disk Utility, and zapped the PRAM. Here's the console report of a restart. The blue screen was between 8 and 8:05.Â

Every since I upgraded my OS to 10.9, my performance has been going downhill. Now, even though I have reformatted my hard drive and have not even put any new data on it, it takes 45 minutes to restart and 25 minutes for me to open the window to write this message. Below is my system info. Why my system seems to have slowed down so much. You can see there is nothing on the hard drive to slow it down.

My 3-month old iMac was responding very slowly when I used the latest version of Safari. So I forced quit the program. From then on, whenever I turned on the iMac, it would get stuck at the Apple logo start up screen. I had to unplug the power since the machine is getting very hot after 15 mins.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook Pro will not open any app or program that requires Internet, even though I am connected to the web. I recently installed Norton AntiVirus and think it may have changed a setting that I couldn't find. I uninstalled Norton and it didn't help. Every time I open Safari, iTunes or any other program that tries to connect to the Internet, it crashes. Strangely enough, Skype still works, but nothing else. I have OSx 10.6.8.  I have tried erasing plists, and all the standard troubleshooting, ie resetting modem, restarting computer, reloading Safari from disk.Â

I installed a small program which I now can't get rid of. The program is called Imac fan control. The package does have uninstall instructions, but these don't seem to work in Lion. I've asked the developers for help, but this being freeware, they don't offer any support. Can anyone tell me whether the program will be deleted if I use time machine to go back to the day before it was installed?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI decided not to keep the Trend Micro Smart Surfing program after my subsription expired. Well I deleted by dragging it into the trash can. It's been over two months and every time I start my iMac it pops up on my menu bar and tells me about my expiration of service.I emptied my trash can, but no luck. I have tried reinstalling the program thinking there may be some uninstaller program I needed to use, but it tells me I have to delete the current version first. I have searched in spotlight and in finder, but no trend micro or smart surfing shows up. I don't know what to do anymore, but it is a pain to have to deal with that program after I deleted it.

Anyhow, I bought a used Mac Book Pro and the previous owner had Little Snitch installed on the computer. I keep getting some fairly annoying messages about kernal tasks and programs accessing the internet. I know what it is trying to do, I just don't find it necessary. So, I went into my applications, found Little Snitch, and dragged it to the trash. I then emptied the trash secure in the knowledge that I had just uninstalled and gotten rid of the Little Snitch. But no. The pop up box persists. Does anyone have any insight as to how I can rid myself of this nuisance?

When I try to delete it I get the message "sorry, the operation could not be complete because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code -61)." I made sure the program was "forced quit," but this made no difference at all. I tried to make the files "shares" files and not "locked" files in the "get info" tab, but it still doesn't allow me to delete them. Any idea of how I can get rid of this program now?

When I try to move it to the trash, I get a message that the app is still open. Where can I see it running? This also happened on another occasion where the move to trash cannot be done because "The item can’t be moved to the Trash because it’s open". And I don't know how to find where it is open so I can close and delete it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed a game called PlaneShift and now want to uninstall it. It does not appear to have an uninstaller. When I try to move the file the client is in, the client itself, or any of the other files in the folder to the trash I get a message that says this cannot be done because the file cannot be deleted. The file stays where it was and nothing happens. The file is not locked nor is the application running. I even downloaded CleanMyMac to delete it which would claim to have done the job yet the folder and everything it it would still remain. Googling it yielded some commands to put in to the terminal to delete it with the root account

Whenever I try and delete an application on my mac, the finder just freezes. It isn't able to delete any of the appliction.
When I clicked on the appliction a 'You can't open the application Spotify because it may be damaged or incomplete.' box appears.Â
