I have no idea what's wrong. I tried reinstalling os x with no luck. 21.5" 3.06GHz 4GB ram 500GB hd iChat keeps disconnecting, pages and youtube vids load extremely slow(about 1min to load this post page).
View 8 RepliesFor about a week or so now, my Safari has been loading webpages incredibly slowly. It will often display the message 'server cannot be found/reached'. I have absolutely no idea what's causing this. I know it's not my actual connection, because I can play World of Warcraft with an average latency of 60ms, and direct download large files at a speed I expect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the last 2 weeks my wifi connection has been playing up. I use Wifi and my iMac connects directly to my router and it works slow if at all as some pages don't load. I can get by but its frustrating using it and this problem is specific to my iMac as every other device using Wifi works fine. These devices, that work fine, include mobile phones and a MacBook Pro.Â
I'm using Chrome and its the same with other browsers. I usually get a "resolving host' message in the taskbar when loading pages. Sometimes pages do not load at all or they are slow to load and at times some elements like images don't appear. My OS X is 10.9.4.Â

Some YouTube videos just wont load. The counter of the video counts up to 00:04 and then resets to 00:00 again and again, while the loading wheel in the video box just spins. Firefox plus others - works fine.Â

I'm a new Mac user and I recently purchased a 15" Macbook Pro. I noticed that it takes a while for youtube videos to load which is quite annoying. I've tried different browsers (google chrome, safari, and firefox) and emptied browsing history, cache, temp files, cookies, etc but it didn't change much. The videos still take a long time to load.

I'm having major problems with certain pages loading in Firefox and the same pages will not load in safari.
In fact they load some days and then not the next. I'm fine on my other mac and on my PC but when on my MacBook Pro I have problems.

Safari takes AGES to load pages and play videos!!! It takes 40 seconds to load the page the first time Safari is open (quit and open Safari or open after Mac reboot or cold boot) and 20 seconds to reload pages afterwards. Frustrating!!!
Firefox takes about 2 seconds, Chrome takes one second and Opera is real time. Latest versions of all in Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Got my iMac back in the end of February and it's been working flawlessly. About a month ago though, my connection started randomly dropping after periods of moderate internet-use. Say maybe, 20-30mins of browsing. It usually starts working fine after I shut the computer off for a while and try again. I thought maybe it was the ethernet cable, so I got another one, but with the same result. So it got me thinking, maybe it is my ISP. Called Verizon up and they said everything looked good on their end and that my IP was showing up fine. They reset my connection, but with no result. The gentleman on the phone suggested it maybe the computer.
I took my Dell laptop and tried surfing using the built-in Wifi for a while. 2 hours later...working fine. So I tried pluging the ethernet cable to the laptop, worked fine again. So now i'm thinking it HAS to be the computer. So switched the built-in Airport Wifi on the iMac on and tried it out. 2 1/2 hours later...everything works great. WHAT THE HELL!? I'm thinking, since it just suddenly happened, the problem must've been triggered by some sort of update I did(which I don't remember if I did). I searched the Apple Support forums and it turns out, several people have had the same/similar problem with their Macs with no solution.............
I have 3 macs working off my wireless router. Two out of three are still working fine, but the third (an iMac G5) keeps losing its network connection and either won't find the network or, if it does, will not allow me to rejoin it, even after entering the relevant key/password. It has been in the same location in my house and has worked fine for the last five years. But oddly, if I move the G5 to within a few feet of the router it starts working again (though sometimes seems unable to find the network, although when it does it will let me join it, hassle free).Â
Have spoken to some Apple guys and, following their advice, have gone into SYSTEM PREFERENCES, NETWORK, LOCATION but having got that far a pop-up appears telling me that an application has changed my network settings. Zapping OK, this dialog box just keeps re-appearing and the only way I can get out of this corner is by 'force quit'. Â

Any else having a problem with periodically losing their network connection on their new iMac? Basically not working properly with your router?
I've narrowed the problem down to the router by connecting directly to the modem and using PPPoe, which works fine.
I had a dlink router which I thought was causing this. Whenever I would use the new iMac I would lose the internet periodically (on my whole network). It would take about 5 minutes to return.
I bought a new linksys router WRT120N to replace the dlink and the problems continue but the internet now only goes out long enough to disconnect my instant messengers and interrupt my streams. Just a little blip. I updated the firmware on the router which I thought worked (ran flawlessly for two days) but now the problem is back.
I'm just wondering if I'm the only one suffering from this or has it been happening to others. It's rather annoying.
After a recent update, my iMac keeps losing the wireless internet connection, especially after going into "sleep" mode.

My mac is set to automatically connect to the internet, but since downloading Mac Lion 10.7.3, I'm having problems. I have to reconnect to the internet repeatedly throughout the day. I also recently updated Microsoft office - not sure if that's somehow related.

When I try to get email or go on the internet in general after being away for a short while, the internet is not connected and has trouble connecting. I have DSL and should always be connected. I also have a laptop (non Apple running Ubuntu) and there is no problem there.

I'm running an intel Imac 2.16ghz c2d with 3 gigs memory and 250 gig hard drive. Here's how it started. I was surfing on the Flock browser one day, and then all of a sudden, my hard drive space was full! I wasn't downloading anything. I checked my log folder in the library and lo and behold, there was almost 2 gigs stored in the console folder! What? Anyway, I cleaned it out and my Mac is now under routine maintenance via OnyX. I also use virus barrier x5 and nothing is wrong with my Mac. I also run disk inventory x and run activity monitor. Now, I got my hard drive space back at 200.37 gigs. But sometimes when I reboot, my hard drive shows it at 200.48, then as time goes by while I surf, it slowly decreases to 200.27 gigs, then it will slowly go back up to 200.37 gigs, and so forth. I'm not downloading anything, just surfing. Has this happened to you guys before? Is the virtual memory causing this? Are there any cure for this besides formatting the hd again? What's going on?

I've not downloaded any files bigger than a few Kilobytes (that I've kept) and all my email is IMAP, not POP, so I'm not actually downloading any mails.
A couple of days ago, my disk space available at the bottom of the Finder window said 152.36GB. Today it says 151.45GB.
I've checked my Download directory and other areas for any new data that I might have absent-mindedly downloaded and kept that I don't need, but haven't found anything.
Is there something else I should be checking and clearing from time to time?
Safari and Firefox are displaying this on every video I try to play from youtube, but not from other websites. This happens on both my iMac and my MBP.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz Imac and I am running Snow Leoprad 10.6.8. The problem I am having is that since I recently updated Safari, I cannot run Youtube videos. Every time I try watching one, the page crashes. I know I am not alone here and I am surprised Apple has not approached this situation yet. I have tried running youtube videos on Firefox and have had no problems doing so, thus I figure it must be Safari. I've tried running safari in 32 bit mode and that is also not fine. I have emptied the cache and reset Safari as well but still no go.

Before my new iMac took 2 minutes to boot up and I re-installed SL and it is now fixed but now, like the 27 inch, the videos on youtube are really choppy and the sound is messed up. It only happens occasionally and is fixed with a restart and is really annoying. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have a 2009 24" imac, and in the past week sufring on the web is almost unbearable no matter what browser I'm using, theres nothing wrong with my connection as ive an iphone and an ipad and they both work fine.
On certain websites it will not even load the page properly on others it takes forever (including this on). Ive unistalled flash and its still the same.
i read somewhere this could be to do with the router but I have no idea what do if it is.
I upgraded my internet yesterday to 100Mbps, and received a modem + router combo from my ISP (Charter). It is a Netgear CG3000D and I have another router hooked up, which is a Cisco/Linksys E3200. The problem I'm encountering is extremely slow page speeds, it'll take from 3 to 5 minutes for pages to load. My first thought was DNS, but of course I tried Google's Public DNS and OpenDNS. Unfortunately, they did not work. I called both the ISP and router manufacturer, but still no luck. I called Apple, but I'm not paying $49 for additional support. I'm assuming my Mac is caching something it's not supposed to. I do not live near an Apple store to see what's wrong. I went into safe mode and the issue still hasn't been resolved. There's multiple devices working fine, and I've noticed when my Mac is connected to my router, my PC goes haywire as well. And FYI -- I connected my iMac directly to the ISP's modem/router and it didn't work either.

I recently purchased (as in days ago) a refurbished 13" Macbook Pro. I just noticed today that my wireless connection on my Macbook Pro has been losing it's connection about every other 2-3 minutes. I was on iChat with a buddy this morning, and I must have been disconnected and then reconnected about 8 times in 20 minutes. I first thought it must have been a problem with iChat. That said, I have sat here looking at my screen for the past ten minutes, and I have seen the Airport wireless indicator disconnect and then reconnect again at least three times in the past ten minutes.
I have AT&T U-Verse Service, and I am forced to use their provided 2WIRE router. That said, I have had no problems with any other device that uses the wireless connection, from my iPhone to my PS3. I work from home and have my HP laptop literally sitting right next to my Macbook, and it has not disconnected once from the same wireless connection, whereas my Macbook has literally disconnected at least 20 times.
I can no longer watch YouTube videos. It says they are not compatible with QuickTime Player. What do I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSuddenly Safari either is very slow to load or doesn't load some pages at all. I have tracked it down to be pages containing html5 canvas element.
This happens only on iMac and Macbook Air. It doesn't happen on iPad nor on Safari on a Pc. It will happen on the Mac computer both when the pages are out on the internet and when the pages ar locally stored. It's driving me absolutely mad!
I've tried emptying cache both through Safari menu and by removing Safari's Cache.db, I've reset Safari preferences, restarted, and changed DNS to Open DNS (though it seems strange it should be an issue since the problem also occurs when I run the site on localhost). Â
If I open the page directly entering the url in the adressbar it works fine, it is when I try to access it from a link on another page on the site it doesn't load. If I press reload it will load fine. The link from other pages can be either an html <a href="url"> tag or javascript window.location or window.location.href neither works. The weird thing is it worked fine until just yesterday. And it works fine on every other machine except the Macintoshes.
