When I import photos from my iPhone to iPhoto I created a folder for photos that I want to move to my external hard drive. I hooked up my external hard drive to my MacBook Pro and tried to copy and paste the pics from that folder to my external hard drive and its not letting me copy anything to the external hard drive and I have no idea why. How come I can't cut and paste to my external hard drive?

My old PC had an option of "mingle" which accomplished it very well.
I am trying to import 403 pics from my iPhone 4s/iOS 7.1.2 into Aperture 3.5.1 on iMac running OSX 10.9.4.
All of the pics are showing up in Aperture and have been removed from the iPhone, but the pics are not going into the new project folder I created to hold these. The library lists the folder, but the Projects Viewer shows it nowhere.
There is a spinning gear at the bottom of my Aperture screen labeled "Importing..." and the clock indicates nearly completed import. Aperture seems hung up and has been importing for more than a day now.

Hi, I've an iMac g3 700 MHz with Tiger that I want to migrate to from an iMac g5 1.8 MHz with Leo. Anyone have any suggestions on the best solution? The G5 I am trying to free up, and return it to Tiger with classic, for the grandkids and their games, both os 9, & 10. For what I do I shouldn't need the G5 any more. Though I will create a regular user account for myself in addition to being the administrator.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm about to get a new iMac. My old G5 iMac is 5 years old now and showing it's age. I understand you are promted when you first turn on your new mac if you want to transfer any data from your old computer. So I assume this includes all the music I keep on my G5 imac's iTunes? I also plan to get a new ipod touch(the one with the camera) when they come out, and I want to transfer the music I had on my old one onto my new one.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been collating files and documents over the past few months. I have decided to keep them in a more organised fashion so I created a folder for films, music, etc and then I want to put further folders in the folders so I can keep certain files together.
I have created the folder but cant seem to move the files in to it - I can copy it then paste it but that seems a bit long winded just to move a file in to another folder (folder within folder.)
I'm thinking about moving from a Mac Pro with SSD. I'm not comfortable doing an SSD install on the iMac, so wondering how much of a drop off I'd experience going from an SSD to the iMac's hard drive.

I know it is possible to move it to the docks when we click on the yellow "-" button, but what I want is that it automatically puts itself to the dock when I navigate away from a window. Just like in Windows. Like I want all my windows to be in the docks. It's very annoying having to search for the opened windows.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently have not been able to drag widows, folders, or files on my desktop. Nor have I been able to draw boxes (text or picture) in PhotoShop or InDesign. If, for instance, you want to move a window in FireFox to accomodate another window, when you go to grab the bar at the top of the page to drag it it won't move; sometimes the result will pop the window to the Dock. Also trying to select text is very erratic; you can't always select the text you need. You can pretty well set the cursor anywhere, but that's about it. The scroll arrows work, but not the scroll bar if you grab it. At first I thought it was the Apple optical mouse, but I moved it to my laptop and it functions fine. I've tried trashing the Finder and Desktop Pref files, but that didn't work. I ran the Hardware Diagnostics off of the installer disk, but that didn't find anything wrong. Anyone have any ideas? I'm running the most up-to-date OS that I can on this machine; 10.4.11. Asside from this quirky thing, it's always run fine.

I thought it would be interesting as well as a good learning point for new Mac users whether you are moving files from your old PC to Mac or Mac to Mac. Explain if you would what method you are using such as Time Machine, or manual backups, or utilizing Mobile Me for your misc backups and how did you use them. What other methods worked for you? Be specific if you don't mind. I think this would be educational for all concerned. Let the Discussion begin:

I have late 2007 Mac mini and I have Snow Leopard installed and I was simply watching a Youtube video and then all of a sudden the entire system freezes (couldn't move the mouse) or anything and started choking on the audio (replaying a bit over and over)... had to manually power it off. The hard drive was replaced several months ago at the Apple Store... so I doubt it's the HD. The Mini is back on now of course... it's running fine, but I've never seen anything like that before. Anyone else ever have this issue?
View 11 Replies View RelatedMainly for the idea to use the monitor as a external monitor. This is what I need. I basically want the magic mouse to automatically connect to the macbook pro when I plug the MacBook into the iMac as an external display. Obviously then I need it to disconnect from the iMac (because apparently you can only pair with one thing w/ bluetooth). I realize you can go thru the tedious steps of disconnecting from the iMac and then reconnecting to the MacBook every time, but its a pain, and honestly I can't figure out how to reconnect to the iMac if the mouse is disconnected (ie I can't move the mouse to the bluetooth icon on the iMac if it's disconnected, I hope that makes sense).
