Is there a way to set up an automatic paste function for frequently used phrases.
My husband has an unusually long email address which he cannot change - he is not good at typing. creating a sort of shortcut or auto paste function on his IMac to save him time and frustration.

I'm experiencing very annoying sleep/wakeup problems with Mid 2007 iMac. I think it started after 10.5.6 update.
1. iMac does not go to sleep according to the Energy saving settings, this was actually from the day one. It goes to screen saver, display sleep, but not complete sleep.
2. Since automatic sleeping does not work, I put it to sleep manually by pressing Power button. but in this case it sleeps so deep, that it does not wakeup. The only way to bring it back is to hold the Power button to complete OFF and then power back UP.
I tried, PRAM and permissions tricks, nothing seem to help.
My wireless mighty mouse has been disconnecting from my new iMac quite frequently. The bluetooth on the menu bar still shows the three little dots like its connected. Since I don't have another mouse to connect when this happens, I have to jump on my laptop and use screen share to "disconnect" and then reconnect the mouse. The guy at the Apple Store that sold me my computer told me that his does this a lot. I thought he was crazy. My MacBook has never done this before. I'm using the exact same mouse that I used with my MacBook. Should I call up Apple and ask them to send me a wired mighty mouse because this happens so often and send them the unused one?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo the first time it did it was I think two days ago and I was doing something in Mail, when all of a sudden 'Beep', it's not really high pitched, and lasts about a second or less, and then it did it again about 30 seconds later. Now it's doing it frequently. Is it bad? A sign of impending doom? Used the Applecare TechTool Deluxe and everything passed. Also, it isn't always beeping, sometimes it's silent, for ages, then it'll beep and beep for a while, then quiet again.

For the past 3 weeks now, everytime I try to use the Creative Suite 4 applications, the computer locks up...spins and spins and spins. I force quit when I can and oftentimes I cannot. I ran the disk utility from the Installation Disk and ran disk repair. The message that I received was a minor one but the problem continues....Vol Bit Map has minor problems. Does reformatting the hard drive is a good idea? It seems that I can get online with no problems. I have backed up all important files and am ready to reformat but want to make sure first that this option is the only one I have.

Since I installed Yosemite OS 10.10.1 on my imac, I frequently get that spinning ball, when using Safari. Doing a search for this problem it appears that there are a lot of others with the same condition.

Why Preview cannot search phrases in PDF? i.e, I want to search the phrase "Apple Macbook Air", but Preview show the result for "Apple" & "Macbook" & "Air". It's not accurate at all!

I'm looking for a program that will allow me to organize and tag a bank of phrases and quotes. Currently I am using Google notebook to do this It allows me to create a header for each section such as, "Pleasantries" and "Generic Phrases and I can tag each individual entry as I like. However, my list seems to have gotten too long for Google notebooks to accommodate it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBack in the days I used a PC, I used to be able to assign custom quick phrases (like "Sincerely, Emily") as a keyboard shortcut. For instance I'd assign my phrase to F3 or something...and then voila!!! I could insert commonly typed phrases into my emails or word processing. SO NICE! And I miss that. Anyone seen this feature in Mac Mail?

View 10 Replies View RelatedA couple of nights ago I set my iMac G3 (Blueberry) to stop automatic login at start up and put it to sleep. I did this because I didn't want my kids on the web in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. When morning comes, the computer is off. I try to start it but it won't turn over. When I push the on button, the button flashes on for a split second and I hear the crackle of static as if the computer is starting, but nothing happens after that. I tried plugging and unplugging the computer, but nothing helps.
It's like a car that won't turn over.
My 2009 iMac will not go to sleep by itself. It will go to sleep when it's induced but not automatically. I have been through several Apple support documents on this issue and searched here and on Google but nothing they suggest like resetting PRAM etc., works. I have been through console to see if I can find any errors and the only thing there is a couple of entries related to my Targus Bluetooth mouse. I have tried disabling and uninstalling this, updating the driver etc., and it doesn't make any difference.

Scenario: (Using iMac (Mavericks))
I want to send a document via email and decide to use the right click> 'share' function. This gives me these options: Messages, Air Drop & Mail.
I want to send my document by mail, but don't want to use apple's Mail app. I want the 'share' function to allow me to open my chosen browser (firefox) at a designated URL (Hotmail).
Question: Is it possible to add an addtional option to the 'share' sub menu? For example 'Hotmail' (via a URL).
So i can make an imac function as an external monitor by using a display port to display port cable. i would like to know if the usb ports on the imac will also function for a connected laptop? Most other monitors have extra usb ports and would be cool if they worked on the imac as an external monitor for a laptop.

Just picked up this iMac, and it was freshly loaded with Mac OS X 10.2.3. Boots up just fine, gets to desktop normally.
However, I can't use the Apple keyboard to eject the combo drive that is empty (no CD inside). The Eject menu is greyed out, and even when I drag the Eject icon to the window for favourites, it is greyed out, so I can't eject the drive.
However, when it boots up , if I hold down the mouse button, it does eject the drive.
Am having issues with mirroring my display to my apple tv via Airplay mirroring. I am able to airplay via iTunes movies/videos but can't get the mirroring display function to work.

Installed a new bluetooth keyboard today. Now my volume controls and other features on the F1 - F12 Keys do not work.Went into Keyboard Preferences and selected and deselected the [ ] Use All F1, F2, F3 keys as standard function keys. Regardless of the setting, the volume controls do not work. Even when holding down the [Fn] Key. I can adjust volume with the mouse ( new Magic Mouse ) using the control on the menu bar.

I just did a restart. I have done them several times before with no problem. This time I lost the swipe function on my mouse. Everything else works. If I right click and click "back", that works. My battery is ok. My IMAC is only 60 days old.

Using OSX 10.9.3 on my iMac. Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. Fairly new iMac, 21.5 inch, Late 2013. Just now, my right click function on my mouse does not work. I have checked my System Preferences and the right click is checked under secondary click. I did uncheck it, exit System Preferences, and then come in again and re-checked it, but that did no good.
I did restart my computer last night before I quit for the day because recently I uninstalled Sophos Anti-Virus because it seemed to be caught in a loop that was not finished "cleaning up" but that is only change I have made. Aside from the Sophos acting wonky there were no other issues with the machine last night.
The right click does not work in all programs, not just Finder. How can I get my right click function to work again?
